The largest number of shoots produced from intact cultured epicotyl tissue (ca 8 per explant) were obtained after 12 weeks on a medium containing 4.4 μM BA. The first flowers were observed in vitro after only 13 weeks from initial germination of the seedlings. The highest frequency of flowering (47% of nodal explants) was obtained when cultured explants were transferred from 22.2 μM BA to a growth regulator-free medium after 8 weeks.
