Ivan Kazachkov is Mech. Engineer: PhD (Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, 1981) and MSc (1976) from Kyiv National T. Shevchenko University. Full Doctorship (1991) in Engineering Sciences from the Institute of Physics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences in Riga. Full Professor at the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Ukrainian Academy of Sciences since 1989, since 1995 - Head of Dept and Principal Investigator at the State scienfifc and Technical Center on Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine. During 1998-2004 - at the KTH, Energy Technology Dept as Guest Professor, then during 5 years teaching and doing research at the National Technical Univeristy of Ukraine “KPI” continuing his work part-time as Visiting Professor at KTH, teaching numerical methods and doing research in modeling of multiphase systems. 2008-2014 - Affiliated Professor at KTH. Modeling of the Plane Film Flow in Alternating Electromagnetic Field

The modeling of a plane film flow affected by alternating electromagnetic field (running EM wave)... more The modeling of a plane film flow affected by alternating electromagnetic field (running EM wave) is considered in the paper. Basic parameters of film flow and specific peculiarities of parametrically excited oscillations in a film flow are studied and discussed for the theory, as well as for the diverse engineering and technological applications. The main attention is focused on the film flow spreading on a solid surface or in another liquid medium with comparably high velocities when inertia forces are playing together with capillary and electromagnetic ones (gravity forces are of lower impact due to high flow velocity). Scientific novelty of present study consists in the revealed new phenomena of the film flow oscillations and available decay or stabilization under appropriate practical statement.

Theoretically the problem considered belongs to the thermalhydraulics of the multiphase systems, ... more Theoretically the problem considered belongs to the thermalhydraulics of the multiphase systems, while practically the problem is of paramount interest for many applications in the nuclear power safety (e.g. modeling of the severe accidents scenario), chemical technology, geology, volcano, etc. For instance, present operation of the nuclear power plants (NPP) still considered by many countries as the energy source of the highest priority requires strict substantiation of the nuclear power safety. Now the second-generation nuclear reactors are replaced by the third-generation reactors, which are necessary at the change to the operable reactors. And the passive protection systems against severe accidents at NPP capable for work even under the conditions of the complete NPP de-energizing must work perfectly under any severe accident scenario, to localize emergency and prevent spreading of the radioactive fuel melt (high-temperature corium melt) outside the containment. As it is stated in the International (IAEA) regulatory documents by the nuclear power safety, the successful construction and operation of the passive protection systems against severe accidents at NPP must prevent outlet of any radioactive materials outside the containment of the NPP. Therefore the detail precise modeling and simulation of the diverse thermal hydraulic processes with the "hypothetical severe accidents" scenario is of paramount interest and this paper considers one type of such problems for high-temperature jet penerating the volatile coolant pool.

Nowadays many dynamic systems, both deterministic as well as stochastic by nature, have become mo... more Nowadays many dynamic systems, both deterministic as well as stochastic by nature, have become more and more complex: nonlinearity, the influence of the time delays and time forecasting terms, etc. Applicability of such systems is widespread: system analysis of the safety problems and optimization of the diverse technical, technological, socioeconomic and other processes. The concept of the complex dynamic system (CDS) and the problem of a creation and an investigation of the mathematical models of the CDS are in focus of a number of the modern scientific and engineering fields, and of the many other areas including the robotics and automation. The basic features of the CDS, approaches for their modeling with an account of the real factors, time delays, and forecasting terms, the influence of the different possible non-linearity effects are presented and discussed. Different modeling approaches are considered and analyzed in detail together with the problem of stability and stabilization of the systems. Instability of a system may cause improper work of it or even lead to a critical regime or a total collapse of the system, which is highly important for a control. The question of an optimal control is discussed too because the modeling and controlling challenging tasks are interconnected in the CDS. Some results of the research are provided together with the examples of computer simulations. Conclusions about the results obtained and the future research directions are given.

Parametric oscillations of phase transition boundaries, which, unlike surface oscillations of liq... more Parametric oscillations of phase transition boundaries, which, unlike surface oscillations of liquid metal film flows described in literature, are shown as defined by an energy exchange between the electromagnetic regulator and the object. While the force influence was considered in film flows, here we consider the thermal influence that makes the frequency of the applied electromagnetic field irrelevant. It has to be rather high so that Joule heat dissipation could occur in a thin skin-layer near the boundary of phase transition (for implementation of the boundary control). Oscillations of phase transition boundaries reveal a low frequency; the system exhibits considerable inertness in thermodynamic relation. Thus, stabilization (suppression of oscillations) is possible at the expense of Joule heat dissipation, i.e. the stabilizing effect of an electromagnetic field is mediated and force actions, as it was demonstrated by our experiments, are rather small. The problem is of practical interest for protection of the metallurgical aggregate machines against high-temperature and chemically aggressive melt with artificial controlled thin layer of garnissage.

The oil-water flows are multiphase because these liquids are mutually immiscible; therefore such ... more The oil-water flows are multiphase because these liquids are mutually immiscible; therefore such flows are difficult for mathematical modeling and experimentalstudy. Peculiarities of the turbulent two-phase and multiphase flows of the mutually immiscible liquids and averaged differential equations for their modeling are considered. Such equations were first derived by Prof. A.I. Nakorchevski as an alternative to a number of the well-known averaged multiphase dynamics equations. The main difference of the new method was in an averaging of the Navier-Stokes equations by phases and components in time instead of the widely spread spatial averaging in multiphase mechanics. What was more, the introduction of the so-called functionindicator of the phases in a flow allowed recognizing the phases in their movement in a multiphase mixture, both theoretically and experimentally. For the experimentalstudy, the special micro sensor was invented and created, which was successfully applied. In this paper, the method of Nakorchevski is described in application to some multiphase tasks, and a discussion is presented as concern to advantages of the method for study of turbulent two-phase flows of water-oil immiscible mixture, as well as many other similar mixtures, where it is important to know the peculiarities of the phases' movement and their mixing in a multiphase flow.

The offered measures based on the wide and skilled application of some inexhaustible mineral resources of the planet are discussed, which have the ecology-economical meaningfulness, as far as they pursue not only possibility for prevention of negative consequences of the anthropogenic activity in the world but also up to a large extent for help in solving the food production problem, in particular in the developing countries. An additional feature of such approach is prevention of massive migration of population from unfortunate regions!

The developed mathematical models of parametric oscillations on the phase change boundaries in a ... more The developed mathematical models of parametric oscillations on the phase change boundaries in a cylindrical channel are presented in a continuation of the previously published paper, which made an introduction to the subject. Analysis of the advanced models and processes described by them, together with the computer simulations, revealed a number of important features of the complex systems with dynamical boundaries of the phase change. Influence of the diverse factors and parameters with their interconnections is investigated in detail: the Peclet number, Bio number, modified Bio number (for the heat flux control system), the ratios of physical properties for the liquid and solid phases, a thickness of a solid layer, and the wave numbers of oscillations. Parameters of a garnissage on the internal surface of a cylindrical channel and the regularities of its instability are discussed for the linear and nonlinear cases. A possibility for the system's stabilization against unstable perturbations is examined using the automatic heat flux control. The control parameters are estimated in computer simulation for a wide range of the variable parameters. The results may be useful for the wall's protection against destruction with the artificially controlled garnissage in the metallurgical machines, as well as in some other applications.
