This is applicable in open-hole completions in which wire-wrapped production screens are deployed. The key objective of a PST is to reduce the risk of plugging key completion components, such as production screens, during subsequent flow back. Hence, a PST increases the chance of preserving well productivity (or injectivity), ultimate recovery and project economics. However, conducting and achieving PST-quality RDIF in offshore fields can be cumbersome, time-consuming, and expensive, yet the quality is not guaranteed. This paper presents the formulation, implementation, and results of a simple strategy to reduce the turnaround time and costs of achieving PST-quality RDIF for applications in offshore fields. Employing a combination of on-the-job assessment, empirical data and expert opinions, the strengths an...

Ecosystem services, biodiversity development, and economic growth in any nation depend on the proficient use of forests and their resources. However, deforestation has remained the single most important environmental phenomenon threatening the existence of the forest environment in Nigeria. This study was carried out to assess the exploitation of forestland in the central zone of Taraba state using GIS and remote sensing techniques. The satellite imageries used are Lands at imageries of 2006, 2012, and 2018. Ground Control points (GCPs) were obtained from Google earth to validate the coordinates of the classified imageries. The result obtained from 2006 classification showed that thick forest occupied the total of 1685448.99 ha equivalent to 80.38% and was the highest land cover suffering a decline in the area amounting to 694696 ha which equals to 33.13% in 2018. The pattern of land cover cha...

Individuals and organizations that utilize this data, had no idea, nor were they prepared for this data explosion. Hence, the available solutions cannot meet the needs of the growing heterogeneous data in terms of processing. This results in inefficient information retrieval or search query results. The design of indexing strategies that can support this need is required. A survey on various indexing strategies and how they are utilized for solving Big Data management issues can serve as a guide for choosing the strategy best suited for a problem, and can also serve as a base for the design of more efficient indexing strategies. The aim of the study is to explore the characteristics of the indexing strategies used in Big Data manageability by covering some of the weaknesses and strengths of B-tree, R-tree, to name but a few. This paper covers some popular indexing strategies used for Big Data management. It exposes the potentials of each by carefully exploring their properties in ways that are related to problem solving.

Some mathematical statistics properties viz: quantile function, moments, probability-weighted moment, entropies, and order statistics were derived among others. The method of maximum likelihood estimation is suitable for the derivation of estimators of the distribution parameters. And the Generalized odd Nakagami Frechet (GONak-Fr) distribution gives the best fit visa -vis its competitors via application to real life data sets.

The study employed secondary data obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria and National Bureau of Statistics. The data obtained was subjected to stationarity and cointegration tests with the use of Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips-Perron (PP) tests. Furthermore, ordinary least square regression was employed in analyzing the relationship between the dependent variable (unemployment rate) and the independent variables (microfinance banks’ credit facilities, gross domestic product, interest rate and inflation). The outcomes of the study show that three independent variables (microfinance banks’ credit facilities, interest rate and inflation) at 5% alpha level have significant impact on unemployment while gross domestic product was found not to have any significant impact on unemployment. The study concludes ...

Biogas could therefore be an alternative that provides energy security and environmental sustainability. The success of any Biogas plant lies solemnly on the adopted design methodology and for this reason many failures were reported from Biogas plants due to poor design. In this book, a good design criteria is highlighted and effects of seeding and temperature being important kinetic parameters affecting the production of Biogas, were checked and determined using cow dung. Temperature is an important parameter that keeps a Biogas plant as economical as possible while seeding on the other hand initiates the anaerobic digestion within a short period of time.

In recent times, there has been the proliferation of armed drones technology and its usage. From when drones were made operational in the Balkans war, they have been used particularly by the US in places like Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and Iraq and controlled by the CIA. With these rapid development and proliferations, machines are starting to take the place of humans in the battlefield. The proliferation and usage of these armed drones poses challenges to the principles of international humanitarian and human rights laws especially when they are operated by non- military personnel like the CIA, the parameters of their detention and prosecution. This paper therefore analyses the effects that the proliferation and usage of armed drones has on the basic principles of international humanitarian and human rights law and concludes that the ability of armed drones to carry out targeted killings without exerc...

Literature review has revealed more reports of hypercalcemia than hypocalcemia as a feature of hyperthyroidism. The recurrence of hypocalcemic tetany in the 3 cases reported ceased following the treatment of hyperthyroidism. The aim of this case series is to alert clinicians to the fact that hypocalcemic tetany can be the initial clinical presentation of hyperthyroidism. It also highlights the resilience of managing endocrine patients in resource-poor settings with the aid of high clinical acumen and fewer-than-expected laboratory investigations. Further research is needed to investigate our hypothesis that disordered calcium metabolism in thyrotoxicosis may manifest in successive phases of hypercalcemia-normocalcemia-hypocalcemia. The rate at which individual thyrotoxic patient traverses these phases may be directly proportional to the background vitamin D deficiency...

Understanding deeply published papers helps to modify methods and identify research gaps. The aim of this study is to discover the existing gap in the S-LCA of products and to find the weaknesses of the approach. The method of performing the review was a narrative review where published papers from 2006 to 2020 were included through the use of the Web of Science and Scopus databases. S-LCA is considered to be relevant to a majority of sectors and processes (agricultural, industrial, technology, energy, and tourism). However, there is not sufficient research on evaluation of S-LCA on cereal crops and livestock output. It is indicated that, in the present S-LCA studies, there has been a lack of attention paid to the society and value chain actors and final consumer stakeholders. The elements of sexual harassment and employment relationships are no...

The local stability for the disease free equilibrium (DFE) was proved for Rc < 1 and Kransnoselki sublinearity trick was used to show that the endemic equilibrium (EE) is locally asymptotically stable for a special case whenever Rc > 1. Numerical simulation was also carried out to investigate the effects of screening unaware (unscreened) asymptomatic individuals and Condom compliance. The result shows the influence of condom compliance and screening on the transmission dynamics of HIV/AIDS. The result clearly shows that increase in the compliance of Condom usage and increase of screening rate of HIV individuals reduces the total number of HIV/AIDS individuals. This point that increase in Condom usage and screening reduces HIV/AIDS burden.

This study investigated these constraints using a 24-hour lifestyle assessment among 6 stroke survivors. Objectives: The objective of this study was to provide an understanding of the ways in which stroke survivors are experiencing stroke, along with the opportunities and challenges of everyday life. Materials and Methods: Six stroke survivors were recruited to participate in this qualitative study. The study participants were 3 males and 3 females. Participants were engaged in in-depth interviews to generate information regarding the objective of this study. The interview was recorded on audiotape and transcribed. The generated data were analysed by thematic framework analysis. Results: Findings showed that 5 out of the 6 stroke survivors faced challenges in everyday life, in reconstructing their identity and depended on their family members to take care of them. All the stroke survivors reported some form of functional restrictions, with 4 out of the 6 responents indicating that their movement was restricted to their immediate compound and 5 out of the 6 respondents indicating that they were unable to do most of their house-hold chores; and one respondent said that he 'barely could do anything for self'. Conclusion and Recommendations: Among the 6 respondents, stroke has several manifestations on patients' mobility and indepdence. These have significant bearing on their wellbeing. Studies with larger sample sizes incorporating quantitative methods and longitudinal follow-up are recommended to shed more light on these findings.
