Symbolic Image with Negative Nuance of Zodiac Animals Being Domestic Animals in Korean and Vietnamese Proverbs

Symbolic images with negative nuance of domestic animals in proverbs is the result of symbolizing... more Symbolic images with negative nuance of domestic animals in proverbs is the result of symbolizing aesthetic materials with negative nuance. Vietnamese people and Korean people have many similarities in symbolizing negative features of zodiac animals being domestic animals into symbolic images with negative nuance. This is proved by 26 symbolic images with both partial and impartial homogeneity in terms of number and species of zodiac animals. The differences in the way of thinking and perceiving the world of Vietnamese and Korean people are also reflected in proverbial units of zodiac animals being domestic animals. The corpus of Korean language has 15 blanks, and the corpus of Vietnamese language has 3 blanks of zodiac animals, which are the materials to establish symbolic images with negative nuance in proverbs.

Therefore, this study aimed to establish rice planting seasons in An Giang, an upper-located province in the Mekong Delta. Design/methodology/approach The impacts of seasonal variation on the key rice seasons were simulated using the Food and Agriculture Organization-crop model for the OM6976 rice variety grown in the study area. For the simulation, the model combined crop, soil, weather and crop management data. Findings The results show that seasonal variation because of changes in weather factors leads to alternation in crop yields across the study area. Specifically, the spring and summer rice planting seasons are advanced by one to two weeks compared with the baseline, and crop yield increased by 5.9% and 4.2%, respectively. Consequently, the main result of this study provides a characterization of a sequentially Cohen-Macaulay ring in terms of its Hilbert coefficients of non-parameter ideals. As corollaries to the main theorem, we obtain characterizations of a Gorenstein/Cohen-Macaulay ring in terms of its Chern coefficients of non-parameter ideals.

FLS from tea has been shown to metabolize dihydroquercetin to quercetin. In this study, we conducted studying on the relationship between quercetin content and the expression level of FLS in two traditional tea cultivars of Vietnam, TrungDuxanh and TrungDutim tea grown in tea garden of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. Tea shoots with one apical bud and two to three young leaves using as research materials which collected in September 2017. The using of HPLC technique did not detect the quercetin content from the these tea samples. Isolation and characterization of genes encoding leucoanthocyanidin reductase and anthocyanidin reductase from the green Trung Du tea in Thai Nguyen (Camellia sinensis)

Catechins are major components of the flavonoid pathway in tea in which they are synthesized in f... more Catechins are major components of the flavonoid pathway in tea in which they are synthesized in four distinct ways under the direct catalysis of two enzymes, leucoanthocyanidin reductase (LAR) and anthocyanidin reductase (ANR). In this study, we conducted the cloning and sequence analysis of genes encoding ANR and LAR (namely, CsANR2 and CsLAR1) from the Green Trung Du cultivar. The length of CsANR2 gene is 1,014 bp, encoding 337 amino acids. Comparative analysis of the nucleotide sequences showed that there was limited difference between the CsANR2 gene in the green tea cultivar and the CsANR2 sequence published in Genbank, with nucleotide identity of 98.9-99.6%, and amino acid similarity of 95.7-99.5%. CsANR2 has two major functional regions, the N-terminal glycine-rich domain that functions in association with NAD or NADP (GGTGFVAA); the substrate-specific domain has amino acids involved in enzyme catalysis (S130, Y167 and K171). The results showed that the difference in nucleotide sequences does not lead to amino acid change in the important functional domains of CsANR2. The length of CsLAR1 gene is 1,029 bp, encoding 342 amino acids. The difference between CsLAR1 of green Trung Du tea and those published in GenBank ranged from 96.3-100% in nucleotide, and 88.3-100% in amino acid sequence. CsLAR1 contains 3 conserved amino acid motifs among species, RFLP, ICCN and THD. However, the ICCN motif of CsLAR1 from green Trung Du tea has a distinct amino acid from the published sequences (I153T). Analysis of the functional domains of CsLAR1 showed that CsLAR1 in tea was conserved in the amino acids linked to the substrate, and the N-terminal glycine-rich domain binding to NADP has a modified amino acid (GACGFIG). How these amino acid modifications affect CsANR2 and CsLAR1 enzymatic activities, that further research is needed to be conducted for clarification.

In tea, FLS has been shown to metabolize dihydroquercetin to quercetin. The FLS gene was cloned and sequenced from the cultivated tea (Camellia sinensis var. macrophylla) in Thai Nguyen province. In this study, we presented the results of optimizing and designing an expression vector for recombinant FLS (recombinant FLS-rFLS). The FLS gene was ligated completely to the pET32a (+) vector, then expressed in E. coli Rosetta1 and Rosetta2 strain. Using 1mM IPTG to induce the expression of rFLS at 37oC, rFLS was obtained with 52.83 kDa in size and existed predominantly as insoluble form. Aesthetic signs in Korean comparative proverbs having the structure t like B with t being a verb... more Aesthetic signs in Korean comparative proverbs having the structure t like B with t being a verb refer to aesthetic material, which are the 12 animals in Oriental Zodiac and their typical action. The verbs expressing t in aesthetic signs include human actions and actions/movements of the Zodiac animals. Aesthetic signs with t being monovalent verbs (or those which do not require an object) include verbs of movements (e.g. go, walk, chase, jump), non-movement (e.g. sit, stick, shake, gather) and verbs of sound (e.g. talk, scream, yell, call). Aesthetic signs with t being bivalent verbs (or those requiring an object) include verbs denoting human basic daily activities (e.g. look, eat/drink, hit/throw, copy). Proverbs are expressed in very lively and clear manner, reflecting how Korean people think, feel and treat the world around in general and the Zodiac animals in particular.

Efficient bimetallic nanocatalysts based on non-noble metals are highly desired for the developme... more Efficient bimetallic nanocatalysts based on non-noble metals are highly desired for the development of new energy storage materials. In this work, we report a simple method for the synthesis of highly dispersed CuNi catalysts supported on mesoporous carbon or silica nanospheres using low-cost metal nitrate precursors. The mesoporous carbon-supported Cu0.5Ni0.5 nanocatalysts exhibit excellent catalytic performance for the hydrolysis of ammonia borane and decomposition of hydrous hydrazine with 100% hydrogen selectivity in aqueous alkaline solution at 60 °C. The chemical composition and size of the metal particles, which have a significant influence on the catalytic properties of the supported bimetallic CuNi materials, can readily be controlled by adjusting the metal loading and ratio of metal precursors. The plant Trichosanthes anguina L. is cultivated as vegetable crop in Vietnam. T. anguina is often used to treat sore throat and skin diseases. There are few reports about chemical constituents such as isoflavone glycoside and trichoanguin of this plants. In addition, trichoanguin showed antitumor and antiHIV-1 activities. This study deals with the isolation and structure identification of two novel coumarinmonoterpenes from the leaves of T. anguina (Fig. 1).

One new lignan, trichobenzolignan (1), and seven known compounds, ligballinol (2), (-)-pinoresino... more One new lignan, trichobenzolignan (1), and seven known compounds, ligballinol (2), (-)-pinoresinol (3), ehletianol C (4), luteolin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), chrysoeriol-7- O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), 10α-cucurbita-5,24-dien-3β-ol (7), and arvenin I (8). Their structures were established on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence, which were in agreement with those reported in literature. The cytotoxic activities of these compounds were evaluated on four cancer cell lines such as A-549 (human lung cancer), HT-29 (human colon adenocarcinoma), OVCAR (human ovarian carcinoma), and MCF-7 (human breast cancer). As the results, compound 7 showed significant activity on HT-29 and OVCAR cancer cell lines with IC50 of 4.1 and 6.5 µM, respectively. Compounds 1, 5, 6, and 8 exhibited moderate activities in all cancer cell lines with IC50 ranging from 11.3 to 42.8 µM.

The sample was modified by doping transition metal ion (V, Cr and Fe) and non metal (N). Doped TiO2 samples were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction), FE-SEM (Fieldemission scanning electron microscopy) and UV-Vis (UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy). Photocatalytic activity in mineralization of xylene (vapor phase), methylene blue and active dyer PR (liquid phase) were tested. In comparison to non-doped TiO2, V-,Cr-,Fe-doped TiO2 and N-doped TiO2 samples exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity using visible light instead of UV.

The plant Trichosanthes anguina L. is cultivated as vegetable crop in Vietnam. T. anguina is often used to treat sore throat and skin diseases. There are few reports about chemical constituents such as isoflavone glycoside and trichoanguin of this plants. In addition, trichoanguin showed antitumor and antiHIV-1 activities. This study deals with the isolation and structure identification of two novel coumarinmonoterpenes from the leaves of T. anguina (Fig. 1).

One new lignan, trichobenzolignan (1), and seven known compounds, ligballinol (2), (-)-pinoresino... more One new lignan, trichobenzolignan (1), and seven known compounds, ligballinol (2), (-)-pinoresinol (3), ehletianol C (4), luteolin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), chrysoeriol-7- O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), 10α-cucurbita-5,24-dien-3β-ol (7), and arvenin I (8). Their structures were established on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence, which were in agreement with those reported in literature. The cytotoxic activities of these compounds were evaluated on four cancer cell lines such as A-549 (human lung cancer), HT-29 (human colon adenocarcinoma), OVCAR (human ovarian carcinoma), and MCF-7 (human breast cancer). As the results, compound 7 showed significant activity on HT-29 and OVCAR cancer cell lines with IC50 of 4.1 and 6.5 µM, respectively. Compounds 1, 5, 6, and 8 exhibited moderate activities in all cancer cell lines with IC50 ranging from 11.3 to 42.8 µM.

The sample was modified by doping transition metal ion (V, Cr and Fe) and non metal (N). Doped TiO2 samples were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction), FE-SEM (Fieldemission scanning electron microscopy) and UV-Vis (UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy). Photocatalytic activity in mineralization of xylene (vapor phase), methylene blue and active dyer PR (liquid phase) were tested. In comparison to non-doped TiO2, V-,Cr-,Fe-doped TiO2 and N-doped TiO2 samples exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity using visible light instead of UV.
