It offers a more profound grasp and understanding of Eliot's work beyond the literary tradition of the Western culture. This study reveals that Eliot was deeply influenced by non-Western religions and cultures that fascinated him as experiences pertaining to the human existence. He was particularly influenced by the Buddhist, Hindu and Sophist philosophies and religious perspectives in matters related to life, death and religious faith and dogma.
