Education is a meaningful subject to understand the secularization processes that took place in t... more Education is a meaningful subject to understand the secularization processes that took place in the Western societies since the first liberal revolutions and the writing of the first constitutions, all of which helped to give birth to a new social and political order. Debates on secularization and on different types of secular state are mainly contemporary and remain alive in our collectivity as part of the democratization process, yet incomplete in this issue. However, these processes have to be placed in their historical moment and context and different approaches should be made to them. A good example is the education through the education policies, the role of the institutions in this matter, or the controversy caused in the core of the organizations that took active part in this subject. As well as its consequences and reflection on the social attitudes and behaviours. A historic period of interest for this approach in Spain may be well enclosed between the Democratic Sexenio in the XIX century and the beginning of the Second Republic.
