Geschied- en Oudheidkundige Kring Kortrijk K.G.O.K.K.
The Koninklijke Geschied- & Oudheidkundige Kring Kortrijk or in short K.G.O.K.K. is a local historical society founded in 1903 in Kortrijk (Courtray, Belgium). Our society devotes his attention to the study of al subject related to the history of Kortrijk, its broader region, or notable scions who swarmed out and made a name for themselves on an international level.
We organise multiple lectures during the year and publish annually a book containing several articles devoted to one theme or a monograph that gives an in-depth look into a certain topic.
Our current research tracks are :
- Historical theater decors, by dr. Bruno Forment
- The spandrels in the Gothic 14th century Chapel of the Counts of Flanders (with an upcoming conference on the matter)
- An insight in the economical history of the region via a close look at some of its most notable companies
- The painter Roeland Savery
