The flux is predicted by the beam Monte Carlo and 3 external data, including the results from the NA61/SHINE experiment. The data used for this measurement were taken in 2010 and 2011, with a total of 10.8 × 10 19 protons-on-target. The analysis is performed on 4485 inclusive charged current interaction candidates selected in the most upstream fine-grained scintillator detector of the near detector. The flux-averaged total cross section is σCC φ = (6.91 ± 0.13(stat) ± 0.84(syst)) × 10 −39 cm 2 nucleon for a mean neutrino energy of 0.85 GeV.

A Matlab algorithm was developed for the estimation of model parameters. Glucose fermentation by B. bruxellensis was studied by varying its concentration (5, 9.3, 13.8, 16.5, 17.6 and 21.4%). The increase in substrate concentration up to a certain limit was accompanied by an increase in ethanol and biomass production; at a substrate concentration of 50-138 g l(-1), the ethanol and biomass production were 24, 59 and 6.3, 11.4 g l(-1), respectively. However, an increase in glucose concentration to 165 g l(-1) led to a drastic decrease in product formation and substrate utilization. The model successfully simulated the batch kinetic observed in all cases. The confidence intervals were also estimated at each phase at a 0.95 probability level in a t-Student distribution for f degrees of freedom. The maximum ethanol and biomass yields were obtained with an initial glucose concentration of 138 g l(-1). These experiments illustrate the importance of using a mathematical model applied to kinetic behaviour on glucose concentration by B. bruxellensis.

Empirical treatment with ampicillin plus gentamicin failed to achieve a marked clinical improvement. When the results of antibiotic susceptibility were available (ampicillin MIC < or = 0.06 mg/l; ampicillin MBC 2 mg/l; MBC:MIC ratio > 32) therapy was changed to vancomycin plus gentamicin. During the following days progressive clinical and radiological improvement was observed. The patient received antibiotics for 30 days and no relapse occurred during a 14-month follow-up. The literature of endocarditis due to this uncommon bacterium is reviewed here.

Adventitial cystic disease of the veins affects the vessels of the lower limbs, and often appears in the femoral region. The disease presents as swelling of the extremity of several months' evolution. Phlebography shows extrinsic compression of the vein without thrombosis. Simple resection of the cyst leads to better results than does transcutaneous aspiration or drainage. Clinical case. We describe a 56-year-old woman who presented with a swollen left leg. Phlebography showed extrinsic compression of the external iliac vein by a 4 cm cystic mass. Surgical resection of the cyst was followed by recurrence in the retroperitoneal abdominal cavity.

Glucose utilization by Brettanomyces bruxellensis at different acetic acid concentrations under a... more Glucose utilization by Brettanomyces bruxellensis at different acetic acid concentrations under aerobic and anaerobic conditions was investigated. The presence of the organic acid disturbs the growth and fermentative activity of the yeast when its concentration exceeds 2 g l(-1). A mathematical model is proposed for the kinetic behavior analysis of yeast growing in batch culture. A Matlab algorithm was used for estimation of model parameters, whose confidence intervals were also calculated at a 0.95 probability level using a t-Student distribution for f degrees of freedom. The model successfully simulated the batch kinetics observed at different concentrations of acetic acid under both oxygen conditions.

In this pathology, is hard to generate a diagnosis until the first symptoms don't appear, and for hence, the preventive diagnosis based on risk factors are generally the best
