The method is based on an analysis of students’ behavior during working with online materials after visiting the classroom lectures or viewing prerecorded lectures. The students’ behavior is monitored via analysis of Log files, and via special extensions of e-book readers and online movie viewers. All the data are recorded on a web site. The gathered data is analyzed to draw conclusions about the quality of lecturing.

Learning Management System can be seen as a structured repository of courseware materials provided with additional communication facilities such as discussion forum, annotations, chats, etc. In this paper, we present innovative features of a modern LMS called WBT-Master. These features actually justify the development of yet another LMS.

No Aterro Sanitário de Curitiba ocorre o pós-tratamento do lixiviado em áreas alagadas naturais. ... more No Aterro Sanitário de Curitiba ocorre o pós-tratamento do lixiviado em áreas alagadas naturais. Para avaliar o papel das macrófitas nesse pós-tratamento, foi desenvolvido um sistema piloto. Dessa forma, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a eficiência do sistema piloto utilizado para o pós-tratamento do lixiviado desse aterro sanitário. O sistema foi construído com duas caixas d' água: na primeira foi colocada a macrófita Echinochloa polystachya e na segunda, Eichhornia crassipes. O sistema operou em batelada e foi realizado um ciclo de sete dias. Para o monitoramento do sistema foram efetuadas coletas e análises do lixiviado, do substrato e das macrófitas. A eficiência do sistema no pós-tratamento do lixiviado foi de 72% para demanda bioquímica de oxigênio, 30% para demanda química de oxigênio, 76% para fósforo total e fósforo inorgânico, 38% para nitrato, 33% para nitrito, 58% para nitrogênio amonical, 44% para nitrogênio orgânico e 13% para zinco.

Developing LMS that satisfy the needs and desires of teachers is crucial in elearning. In a simple case, teachers need to provide a set of files to be downloaded by students (library) and participate in an asynchronous discussion (discussion forum). In more complex cases, students are provided with synchronous communication and collaboration tools, implement practical assignments, use virtual reality landscapes, etc. Teachers see a particular LMS from the perspective whether it is capable of implementing an e-learning scenario needed by the teacher, or not. Thus, a modern LMS should demonstrate the ability to implement a variety of different e-learning scenarios, and should support an evolutionary development paradigm to adopt the system functionality to permanent changes of user requirements. The Business Process Knowledge Framework

Organizations today are confronted with huge problems regarding following and implementing their ... more Organizations today are confronted with huge problems regarding following and implementing their own business process models. On the one hand, due to a lack of planning and requirements analysis, process models are often unfeasible or difficult to execute in practice. On the other hand, process designers often ignore the importance of studying the different roles and their perspectives on a business process when constructing a process model. This leads to the deployment of process models that do not "satisfy" process stakeholders. This paper addresses those two problems and proposes a business process knowledge framework as a possible solution. Our framework for business process knowledge management integrates three elements that we consider fundamental to correctly model business processes: stakeholders' perspectives, knowledge types and views. It is shown how the business process framework can contribute to the improvement of the process knowledge acquisition phase of process design, and how it can support process knowledge communication to stakeholders. Finally, we argue that the latest developments in the Semantic Web are an interesting solution to support the integration of information and knowledge represented within our framework.
