The statistical evidence shows that these inflationary experiences are fractional brownian noises. Several authors showed that self-organized criticality (SOC) processes may constitute the best explanation of the origin of such noises. But this hypothesis requires that the underlying structure remains timeinvariant. We conjecture, instead, that the economic structures evolve in time being, at each stage of their evolution, ...

One of the mainstays of Industry 4.0 is the application of Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS). CPPSs will redefine decision-making processes in manufacturing environments, integrating traditionally disparate functionalities in a single system. One of the questions to be answered is how will the process of scheduling activities be redefined in this scenario. We examine the advances in the scheduling literature and analyze which aspects should be taken into account in future designs. Among them, we focus on topics as dynamic scheduling, distributed scheduling and inverse scheduling.

We study the problem of how multiple such judgments can be aggregated. We define the problem by adapting various classical social-choice-theoretic properties for the argumentation domain. We show that while argument-wise plurality voting satisfies many properties, it fails to guarantee the collective rationality of the outcome. We then present more general results, proving multiple impossibility results on the existence of any good aggregation operator. After characterising the sufficient and necessary conditions for satisfying collective rationality, we study whether restricting the domain of argument-wise plurality voting to classical semantics allows us to escape the impossibility result. We close by mentioning a couple of graph-theoretical restrictions under which the argument-wise plurality rule does produce collectively rational outcomes. In addition to identifying fundamental barriers to collective argument evaluation, our results contribute to research at the intersection of the argumentation and computational social choice fields.

In the model proposed here of Evolutionary Self-organized Systems non-wriform shocks generate as a response a new set of rules of interaction, which in turn determine new values for the critical parameter. An interesting possibility that arises here is the change of dimensionality of the system as a result of previous experiences. This framework will be shown useful for representing evolving economies in a general and abstract way.

A more precise version of this position is that one of the main reasons for this unrealistic stance is the use of the wrong formal tools. So, for example, it has been pointed out that the computability of choice functions as well as the existence of economic equilibria and of states of the world may not be ensured in general if the assumed set theory is ZFC. We will ...

We discuss briefly the technologies proper of this new paradigm and how they can affect decision-making in the context in which schedules have to be revised due to disruptions. We study a case of rescheduling (and dynamic scheduling) on a single machine when the goal is to minimize maximal lateness. Our approach involves tolerance scheduling, which allows to profit from the computational potentialities of cyber-physical production systems. These can take over the tasks carried out by human schedulers, making decisions on the fly to address disruptions in production processes. We introduce mathematical formalisms for this problem and present ways of solving it. We illustrate this in the numerical analysis of a version of our study case, comparing the results with those of traditional rescheduling strategies.

Here we record some examples and additional material or changes of notation that helped us understand the material, and we think someone else may find them useful as well. Frankly, we are surprised by the number of times this has been read in a few days.
