An efficient protocol for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-one/thione derivatives via... more An efficient protocol for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-one/thione derivatives via multi-component coupling reaction of aromatic aldehydes, β-ketoester and urea or thiourea under solvent-free conditions using Silica Supported Barium Chloride as a catalyst is described. All prepared compounds with melting points, IR, 1 H NMRand 13 C NMR were identified. High yields, mild conditions, easy availability and reusability were some advantages of this catalyst.

We had the advantages of good performance, simplicity, and short time reaction under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst can be repeatedly reused without loss of its activity.

Recently a number of articles have published on the synthesis of 1, 4dihydropyridines 6-13. Heterogeneous catalysts have gained and have been widely used as a stable and an efficient catalyst for synthesis of organic compound.

Three-component reaction of substituted benzoyl chlorides, ammonium thiocyanate, and isatin in an... more Three-component reaction of substituted benzoyl chlorides, ammonium thiocyanate, and isatin in anhydrous acetone gave a series of novel N-(2,3-dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole-1-carbothioyl)benzamides, and condensation of the latter with hydrazine hydrate in anhydrous ethanol under reflux afforded 1-(5-(aryl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole-2,3-dione derivatives. The structure of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by elemental analyses and FT-IR and 1H and 13C NMR data.

A rapid and efficient solvent-free one-pot synthesis of coumarin derivatives by Pechmann condensa... more A rapid and efficient solvent-free one-pot synthesis of coumarin derivatives by Pechmann condensation reactions of phenols with ethyl acetoacetate using FeF 3 as a catalyst under microwave irradiation is described. This one-pot synthesis on a solid inorganic support provides the products in good yields. The newly synthesized compounds were systematically characterized by IR, 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR, MS and elemental CHN analyses. The proposed solvent-free microwave irradiation method using the environmentally friendly catalyst FeF 3 offers the unique advantages of high yields, shorter reaction times, easy and quick isolation of the products, excellent chemoselectivity, and a one-pot, green synthesis. The products were screened for antimicrobial activity, and the results showed that the compounds reacted against all the tested bacteria.

The structural features of the synthesized compounds were characterized by m.p., IR, MS, H NMR, C NMR, and CHN elemental analysis. We synthesized nano-BBr3.SiO2 for the first time as a nanocatalyst and characterized it by XRD, SEM and TEM techniques. High yields, mild conditions, easy availability, reusability, and green chemistry were some advantages of using this catalyst.

The structural features of the synthesized compounds were characterized by melting point, IR and 1 H NMR analysis. The catalyst being reported here is cheap, safe to handle and the whole procedure is eco-friendly, Milder conditions, one-pot, excellent yields, operational simplicity and ecofriendly preparation are some advantages of this protocol. The compounds were screened for antimicrobial activity. The results showed that these compounds reacted against all the tested bacteria and fungi.

Abstract A series of novel 2-(5-aryl-4 H -1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1 H -isoindole-1,3(2 H )-diones wer... more Abstract A series of novel 2-(5-aryl-4 H -1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1 H -isoindole-1,3(2 H )-diones were synthesized in three steps. In the first step, treatment of substituted benzoyl chlorides with ammonium thiocyanate gave the corresponding benzoyl isothiocyanates which reacted with phthalimide (isoindoline-1,3-dione) to produce a series of novel benzoyl thioureas. Condensation of the latter with hydrazine hydrate in anhydrous ethanol afforded 2-(5-aryl-4 H -1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1 H -isoindole-1,3(2 H )-diones. The structure of intermediate thiourea derivatives and final products was confirmed by spectral data (FT-IR, 1 H and 13 C NMR) and elemental analyses.

4-Amino-5-methyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione was synthesized in three steps from carbo... more 4-Amino-5-methyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione was synthesized in three steps from carbon disulfide, hydrazine hydrate, and acetic acid. Its reaction with benzoyl isothiocyanates prepared from substituted benzoyl chlorides and ammonium thiocyanate afforded the corresponding N-benzoyl-N′-triazolylthioureas. The obtained compounds were screened for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Staphylococcus epidermidis (ATCC 12228), Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853). Their antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria was higher than against gram-negative bacteria, and derivatives containing electron-withdrawing groups were more active than those with electron-donating substituents.
