Penekanan terhadap proses penaksiran yang dilaksanakan dengan sewajarnya oleh guru dilihat berupaya untuk menangani persoalan berkaitan pencapaian objektif pengajaran, kesediaan murid, keperluan pemulihan dan pengayaan dalam pengajaran. There has been burgeoning interest among researchers in investigating Willingness to Communicate ... more There has been burgeoning interest among researchers in investigating Willingness to Communicate (WTC) as part of the instructional method in a Philosophical Inquiry (PI) Discussion. The present study investigated the effectiveness of using a tracker chart in a PI classroom discussion to promote WTC. The participants were 30 undergraduate students in a public university in Malaysia. A WTC questionnaire was administered before and after the intervention. A tracker chart was used to gauge the number of learner responses that occurred throughout the 8-week intervention. Interview sessions with seven randomly selected participants were then carried out to gauge the learners’ perceptions of using the tracker chart in PI Discussions and its effects on their WTC. It is important for teachers to know deeply about the subject they are teaching and how to link the knowledge to other disciplines. Ambiguity remains, however, warranting further research as to how student teachers’ view subject matter knowledge. This study aimed to look into student teachers’ subject matter knowledge as they are still in the stage of learning to teach. Semi-structured interviews with ten Malay language student teachers were carried out. Six themes emerged from the analysis: subject contents, fluent grammar, current issues, depth of knowledge, method of teaching and importance of the subject taught. Oleh yang demikian, kajian ini membicarakan instrumen Ujian Kecekapan Bahasa Melayu (UKBM) dan kepentingan untuk melaksanakan ujian tersebut di Malaysia. Instrumen UKBMini telah dibangunkan pada 2012 oleh sekumpulan penyelidik UPM dengan kerjasama organisasi lain dan dibiayai oleh Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi. Simple random sampling were implemented in distributing the questionnaire and a 187 respondent has returned the complete questionnaire. A simple curriculum overview of Modul Asas Keusahawanan was done and the collected data were analysed using descriptive and multiple stepwise linear regression in SPSS. The findings showed that there is no significant relationship between EPCK (β = .006, p = .962 and is >.05) towards entrepreneurial intention. This phenomenological study seeks to explore how Muslim educators educate teacher ethics from Tawhidic paradigm. It involved 05 Muslim educators in Tanzania. Face to face interviews were used and later transcribed verbatim. The results reveal understanding of life mission and purpose, holistic integrated knowledge, teaching for transformation, teaching activities as amānah (trust) and sense of being role model as major focuses of Muslim educators. Therefore, educating teacher ethics is the function of theoretical and practical knowledge, rational and spiritual sources of knowledge across disciplines.

One important aspect of research with regards to teacher’s knowledge is explaining in detail how ... more One important aspect of research with regards to teacher’s knowledge is explaining in detail how student teachers develop their pedagogic content knowledge. Pedagogic content knowledge is multidimensional, such research needs to be able to represent a rich picture of how pre-service teachers develop this knowledge during a teacher education programme. Therefore, research into teachers’ pedagogic content knowledge requires not only multiple instruments for its exploration but also multi-method triangulation of data analysis. In this way not only are perspectives of pedagogic content knowledge explored but the practicality of focusing on and studying pedagogic content knowledge can also be estimated by corroborating the data to represent a rich picture of pedagogic content knowledge. Thus, this paper illustrates the so-called multifaceted case study that was conducted at a university Department of Educational Studies in England. Quantitative and qualitative data that resulted from the study were analysed and interpreted to measure whether the instruments and research design are adequate for constructing the judgment of the nature of pedagogic content knowledge among student teachers.

This study evaluated the effects of integrating resources from the Eduwebtv online portal on stud... more This study evaluated the effects of integrating resources from the Eduwebtv online portal on students' achievement in learning science. The study employed quasi experimental design using pre and post tests. Two classes of Form Two secondary school students were randomly assigned to the experimental (n=32) and control (n=30) intact groups. The experiment involved ten science class sessions. Students in both groups received similar content on the topic 'Dynamic, Support and Movement' and taught by the same teacher. For the treatment group the teacher integrated video-based resources obtained from the Eduwebtv portal to teach the topic. On the other hand, the control group was taught in the conventional way, without the video-based resources. Achievement in learning the topic was assessed using two similar sets of validated teacher-designed tests administered before and after the experiment. Data were analyzed by Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15.0. using descriptive (mean, frequency, percentage & standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t-test). Findings demonstrated that there was a significant difference in students' achievement in the post-test in the treatment group (M = 51.75, SD = 7.45) compared to the control group (M = 41.87, SD = 6.85); t(29) = 5.361, p<0.05.

The purpose of this study was to identify teachers' readiness in utilizing the educational resour... more The purpose of this study was to identify teachers' readiness in utilizing the educational resources from the Eduwebtv online portal. Teachers' readiness was measured in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude. Research samples consisted of 387 secondary school teachers from five different states selected using the cluster simple random sampling technique. The design of the study was quantitative in nature employing the survey method. Data were gathered through the use of the Eduwebtv ReadinessQuestionnaire developed by the researchers. The questionnaire was divided into four sections a) background information, b) knowledge of Eduwebtv, c) skills in using Eduwebtv, and d) attitude towards using Eduwebtv. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean, frequency, percentage and standard deviation. Findings revealed that majority of the teachers had moderate (n=201, 51.9%) to high (n=186, 48.1%) levels of knowledge of Eduwebtv as an educational resource portal. Also found majority of the teachers had moderate skills in using Eduwebtv portal. Apart from this, majority of the teachers were found to foster positive attitudes towards the use of Eduwebtv online resources for teaching and learning. In terms of readiness in utilizing the Eduwebtv portal, these findings suggest that although teachers have knowledge of Eduwebtv and its benefits to both teachers and students, they seem lacking in the skills to fully capitalize on the advantages afforded by this online technology

Sebagai tambahan, kertas kerja ini juga menghuraikan kemajuan teknologi dalam pendidikan berbentuk pembelajaran mudah alih (m-learning). Previous studies found that non-Malay students in Malaysia were less proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and less skilful in writing in Malay. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the level of proficiency of Malay language of non-Malay speakers and their relationships with learning motivation. A total of 414 samples from five national primary schools, Chinese vernacular primary schools and Indian vernacular primary schools were selected. The analysis was done using the UPBM_SR Test set and questionnaire. Data is processed using IBM SPSS version 23 with the cross-sectional design. Kajian kuantitatif deskriptif pembelajaran koperatif dalam pengajaran karangan Bahasa Melayu (BM)... more Kajian kuantitatif deskriptif pembelajaran koperatif dalam pengajaran karangan Bahasa Melayu (BM) Tingkatan Empat dijalankan antara objektif utamanya adalah untuk mengenal pasti kekerapan, cara melaksana dan sikap guru Bahasa Melayu terhadap pelaksanaannya di dalam bilik darjah. 40 orang guru BM dalam daerah Jempol, Negeri Sembilan dipilih sebagai respondan kajian. Data kajian diperoleh menggunakan borang soal-selidik 48 item sebagai instrumen. Data dianalisis untuk mendapatkan min, sisihan piawai, dan peratusan bagi setiap item soalan.
