The present study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy on cognitive-attentional syndrome and low cognitive confidence among female students of Shahid Chamran university of Ahvaz, who had generalized anxiety disorder. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and posttest and a control group. The statistical population included all female students of Shahid Chamran university of Ahvaz, who were invited to participate in the present study by a phone call. First, for an initial diagnosis of the disorder, the generalized anxiety disorder scale was given to the students. Then, those individuals with a high score in anxiety questionnaire (cut-off point: 10 and above) underwent a structured clinical interview, and 28 individuals with generalized anxiety criteria were selected. The test group underwent ten 90-minute sessions of Wells metacognitive therapy. The questionnaire of cognitive-attentional syndrome and cognitive trust was used as a measurement tool in the pretest and the posttest. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis variance test. Results: Multivariate variance analysis showed that the mean value of cognitive-attentional syndrome and low cognitive confidence in the test group significantly reduced compared to the control group. Conclusions: The findings revealed that MCT reduces the studied variables and indicated the effectiveness of meta-cognitive therapy on generalized anxiety.

Thus, it is important to identify the factors reducing occupational stress and burnout. Objectives: We aimed to investigate the relationship of mindfulness with burnout and adaptive performance with the mediatory role of resiliency. Methods: Participants consisted of 220 employees from an industrial company who were selected by using the stratified random sampling method. The data collection instruments were Mindful Attention and Awareness Scale (MAAS), Aadaptive Performance Questionnaire, Burnout Questionnaire, and Resilience Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) in SPSS version 23 and AMOS 23 software programs. Results: SEM confirmed the proposed model's fitness. The results indicated the direct and indirect effects of mindfulness on adaptive performance and burnout through resiliency. Conclusions: According to the results, one of the strategies for alleviating burnout and improving employees' health and adaptation to workplace is the training of mindfulness skills with the aim of enhancing resilience skills against the stressful and challenging workplace conditions.

Adoption is considered as one of the infertility treatment methods that can have great impact on healing emotional problems of infertile couples and can improve their relationship. Objectives: The current study aimed to investigate infertility-related stress and adoption in Iranian Infertile females with a history of ART failure, during year 2015. Methods: This was a cross sectional study in which 30 Iranian infertile females, 30 to 45 years old, with primary infertility of five years or more, and history of ART failure, were investigated. Data collection instruments included the questionnaire of infertility and demographic factors, fertility problem inventory (FPI) and adoption questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS V22, using descriptive statistics and Pearson test to assess possible correlations. Results: The mean of the total score of infertility stress of the participants was 186.1 ± 29.46 (moderate to high). All participants showed some level of infertility stress. The mean score of adoption was 38.4 ± 3.73 (moderate acceptance), 53.33% of which showed moderate acceptance. There was no relationship between infertility stress and adoption (correlation =-0.13, P = 0.48). Conclusions: Infertile females with a history of unsuccessful ART had a high level of infertility stress and moderate acceptance of adoption. We must pay more attention to psychological aspects of infertility and failure of treatment. There is an obvious need to increase society awareness about adoption and promote "adoption" as a sensible choice to form a family.

Method: This prospective cohort study was performed in 2016 on three hundred and twenty pregnant women referring to selected health care centers of Ahvaz that were selected through simple non-randomly sampling. The data collection tools were “demographic information”, “Friedman & Rosenman personality trait” and “Attitude to the choice of delivery method”...

Method: This qualitative study was performed using a descriptive phenomenological approach. The subjects of the study consisted of 10 people with NDE. They were selected through purposive sampling method. Data were collected via individual tape-recorded interviews, and simultaneously analyzed using Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis method. Results: Through data analysis, 113 codes were extracted which were classified under 11 seman...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the latency period/time interval between the development of type 2 diabetes and the development of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) based on psychological factors after adjusting for medical and demographic factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on 264 CAD patients who were suffering also from diabetes mellitus (DM). Patients were divided into three groups based on the duration of their diabetes. Data were collected using a checklist of demographic and medical factors, as well as psychological standard scales. The data were analyzed using a chi-square test, ANOVA and multinomial logistic regression. Results: 45.5% of the patients developed CAD in less than 5 years; 23.5% in 5-10 years, and 22% more than 10 years after being diagnosed with DM. After adjustment for medical and demographic variables, anxiety (p = 0.003), stressful life events (P = 0.009) and exercise (p = 0.033) were associated with early development of CAD and self-care variables including checking blood sugar (p = 0.001) and taking medication (p = 0.049), lifestyle variables including nutrition (p = 0.003), and perceived physiological risk factors for heart disease (p = 0.002) were inversely associated with early development of CAD. Conclusions: Patients with DM are prone to the early development of CAD, and psychological factors were associated with early development of CAD. Therefore, the findings of the current study can be utilized in designing preventive and therapeutic interventions, and implementing and integrating these factors in health-promotion programs for patients with DM can be useful.
