After that, AAT has been used for various mental illnesses. Nowadays, animal's positive effects on elderly people are being debated by many of the professionals. Aim: This study investigates the role of Animal Assisted Therapy on elderly people. For this purpose, systematic literature search method has been used in the study. After analyzing the results of studies about Animal assisted therapy, exhibition of positive effects and limitations is the main purpose of this paper. Results: All of the studies which have been examined showed that there is a positive and substantial effect on the patients. Therapies has been conducted on the various fields of mental health. However, all of the studies shows that animals have a positive effect on patients. Conclusions: All of the People WHO (please see relative pronouns) HAVE (people is plural) mental health issues, show a more positive mood with Animal assisted therapy, and show significant increase in a variety of positive social behaviors such as smiles, looks, tactile gestures and verbalizations. Animal Assisted therapy also has an impact on physiological aspect, such as; heart rate, skin temperature and blood pressure management. Studies has shown that AAT has a positive impact on patients from social, physiological, psychological aspects.
