This study aimed to compare the efficiency and safety of aripiprazole, olanzapine, and L-methyl folate in patients with resistant OCD. The study consisted of an open-label prospective phase of 12-weeks to ascertain resistance to SRIs and a second 6-week open-label addition phase for non or, partial responders of the first phase. One-hundred-fifteen patients entered the 16-week open-label phase. Fifty patients (43.47%) responded to the SRIs monotherapy, two patients developed adverse effects and another three were lost to the follow up. Sixty patients (52.2%) were considered treatment-resistant and entered the 6-week open-label aripiprazole, olanzapine, or L-methyl folate addition phase; Patients showed a significant improvement over 6-week study period in olanzapine and aripiprazole group as measured by YBOCS total score (p < 0.001) while there was no change in the L-methyl folate group at the end as compared with baseline (p = 0.150). Clinical Global Impression-Severity decreased from 4.90 to 2.90 in olanzapine and aripiprazole group at the end of 6 weeks while there was no change in the L-methyl folate group. The CGI-I was significant in the olanzapine and aripiprazole group (p < 0.001) while it was insignificant in the L-methyl folate group (p = 0.088). Augmentation of SRIs with olanzapine or aripiprazole could be a promising option for resistant OCD. L-methyl folate though shown to be effective in resistant depression was not effective in treatment resistant OCD.

It is noted that the advantages in managing solid waste at institutional level such as university because of its unique characteristics also influences the waste management needs and strategies. This paper outlines findings from a yearlong study through surveys, field investigations, including on-site waste measurements and questionnaire on institutional solid waste management. It was discovered that the waste's content was primarily organic in content, suggesting a strong disposing potential in terms of organic manure or biogas production through scientific digestion and composting. The study revealed that maximum contribution to organic waste in the form of food waste was from messes of the hostels (53.32 T). That can be biodegradable managed and properly disposed, hence make a significant change in the waste management system. Hostels also generate 17.77...

Canopy management in fruiting trees has been practiced over the years for increasing the productivity and quality of the fruits. Management of canopy architecture is one of the predominant technologies by which huge and unmanageable trees are properly managed to make them more productive. Canopy management is the manipulation of tree canopies to optimize its production potential with excellent quality fruits. Canopy management deals in fruit crops deals with the development and maintenance of their structure in relation to their size and shape for maximizing productivity with quality fruits. To optimize the utilization of light for increased yield of quality fruits, canopy management deserves greater attention by exploiting the various available techniques like training, pruning (dormant, summer and root pruning), branch orientation (bending), scoring, girdling, selection of proper rootstock, use of plant growth regulators, appropriate use of fertilizer, deficit irrigation, use of genetically engineered plants with altered architechtural characters would help in maintaining the ideal canopies of trees. The basic objective of canopy management is to maximize light interception to optimize light distribution within canopy and to maintain proper airflow. Canopy management enhances productivity, improves fruit quality, facilitates cultural practices and help in management of pest and disease. In new plantations initial training and pruning is given to develop strong framework of the tree whereas in old plantation the aim of canopy management is to reduce tree height and make provision of solar radiation inside the canopy by thinning excessive biomass.

Nearly 50% of its total land lies between 16500 and 19500 feet above mean sea level. It is virtually unfit for human life and vegetation. The experiment was undertaken with an objective to investigate the effect of various concentrations of plant growth regulator (GA3)) under cold arid conditions to standardize the procedure for seed germination of Apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) so as to increase the dearth of apple seedling plants which can easily acclimatize under these tough conditions with better survival for maximum benefit to nursery growers and orchardists. One of the effects of cold arid conditions is the reduction in seed germination, seedling establishment (survival) and seedling growth but research reveals that pretreatment with growth regulators improves some aspects of seed germination and seedling establishment. Hence to investigate the effect of pretr...

The various prerequisites for good fruit set are the development of flower buds, certain temperature range for good pollination, pollen tube growth, fertilization and relatively high level of photosynthates for developing fruit. Three general categories of limited fruit set recognised may be attributed to limited pollination, limited nutrients and precocious abscission of flowers (Verma and Jindal, 1985). Pollination is an essential process for fruit set, fruit growth, fruit quality, and seed set of temperate fruits mostly apple cultivars. The first step of successful pollination is the transfer of pollen to the stigmatic surface (typically vectored by bees) followed by an adhesion of pollen grains to the papilla cells of the stigmatic surface (Dresselhaus and Franklin-Tong, 2013). Once pollen reaches the base of the style, one sperm nucleus fu...

Losses due the pest varied from 24-83 per cent in different agro-climatic zones of the country. Study was undertaken to find out incidence of the pest in relation to date of sowing and stage of crop growth during sowing season of the crop at Dryland Agriculture Research Station, SKUAST, Kashmir. An experiment was laid in randomized Block Design, in which sowing was done at 15 days interval starting from March 1 during 2016 and 2017. The observations on Maize Stem Borer infestation and Dead Hearts were recorded. The study revealed that the borer infestation was considerably high during April 1 and April 16 sown crop. Consequently, the control measures need to be initiated during the period for effective maize stem borer management strategy.

India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables and is ranked thirteenth in the production of carrot. Carrot is a potent source of the bioactive compounds like β-carotene and phyto-chemicals that provide it the various functional properties. It is utilized as fresh, cooked or processed into different value added products. The improper harvesting, handling, storage and transportation result in the significant losses due to perishable nature of the root crop. The supplementation of the carrot pomace in the processed food products can help to fulfill the requirements of vitamin-A at a very low cost. The edible part of carrot consists of two portions cortex and core, the former being rich in juice and the latter rich in the fiber. It was found that in the carrot variety Pusa Kesar, the cortex core ratio decreases as the maturity increases and ranges from 6.36±0.92 ...
