Aim: To estimate the burden of prehypertension among MBBS Students admitted at Tertiary care centre in India. Methods: A cross sectional study conducted at tertiary care centre in India, among 350 MBBS students (academic year 2015-2018) and 50 interns (academic year 2014) of Maharaja Agrasen Medical College (MAMC), Agroha, Hisar, Haryana. Blood pressure of all subjects was measured. A total of three readings were recorded and the lowest of three readings was taken. Statistical analysis: Data was entered into MS excel sheet and prevalence was calculated accordingly. Results: The overall prevalence of prehypertension among MBBS students came out to be 44.25%, while none of the study subject was hypertensive in this study. The students hailed from urban and rural background. It was seen that maximum prevalence (52%) of prehypertension was among third year MBBS students. Conclusion: Subjects at risk of pre hypertension need proper evaluation and appropriate management to prevent serious, long term complications. If the rise in BP with age could be prevented or diminished, much of hypertension, cardiovascular, renal diseases and stroke might be prevented.

It is a major risk factor for stroke and coronary heart diseases which is a contributor to onset and progression of chronic heart failure and chronic kidney failure in coming times, associated with many adverse outcomes. Method: The study type is cross sectional, conducted among 100 first year MBBS students. Blood pressure was measured in sitting posture using a standard sphygmomanometer by auscultatory method at interval of 5 minutes and mean of three readings were taken. Blood pressure was classified as per the Joint National Committee (JNC-VII). Statistical analysis was done to find out the prevalence of pre-hypertension among first year MBBS students. Results: The overall prevalence of pre-hypertension came out...

It is a symptomatic disorder of the nose induced after allergen exposure due to an IgEmediated inflammation of membranes lining the nose. Usual treatment of Allergic rhinitis includes allergen avoidance, effective symptomatic treatment, antihistamines or steroids, standardized immunotherapy, and patient health education. There are also recommended complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies including, Ayurvedic medicine, herbal medicines, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, and several other modalities. Material and methods: This study was conducted on 80 patients diagnosed positive for Allergic Rhinitis attending the Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) of Dr. D.N. Kotnis Health & Education Centre, Ludhiana, Punjab. The severity of the patient's problem was taken on Liker's scale at their first visit and the last visit of the treatment. The acupuncture points were punctured until the needling sensation/ Qi was achieved. The points were connected with an electrical stimulator for 30-40 minutes followed by a moxibustion application with stick moxa for 15-20 minutes. The collected data were subjected to multinominal logistic regression using ROCR package of the R programming environment. Results: It is noted that, statistically after treatment, the results for pre and post-treatment varied significantly with p=0.0039, df= 15. There was maximum improvement seen for nasal symptoms and insomnia treatment. Conclusion: Acupuncture provides an effective and safe treatment modality for allergic rhinitis. It provides a significant reduction in major symptoms of allergic rhinitis improving the Quality of life of the patient.

It is estimated that 60% to 80% of any population will experience low back pain at some point in their lives. There are number of causes for low back pain and Sciatica is one of them. Study aimed to assess the efficacy of Acupuncture for the management of Sciatica pain. Material and Methods: This study was conducted among 200 patients attending the Outdoor Patient department at Dr D.N. Kotnis Health and Education Center. With each subject a prior informed and written consent was obtained. A predesigned and pretested proforma was used to collect the socio demographic profile. Severity of Pain was measured with the help of Likert Scale whereas the reading on Likert scale was taken at the time of first visit and last visit of patients for comparison of pain. Data was first entered into MS excel sheet and then was exported to SPSS version 20.0 for appropriate analysis. Results: Wilcoxon signed rank test was applied to determine the efficacy of the treatment on reducing the pain, further it was observed that the effect of the treatment was statistically significant (p<0.001) Conclusion: Acupuncture provides effective relief from Sciatica pain. However initiation of treatment at young age provides quick response and healing by reducing suffering of sciatica pain.

It is one of the top problems confronting the world today especially among the youth. Abuse of Cannabis is also a big problem faced by India. In India, Cannabis is used as Bhang which is legal in many states and as Charasand Ganja which are illegal as per the International drug conventions as well as the Indian law (NDPS Act, 1985). Cannabis users are at high risk of developing cannabis use disorder which is a problematic pattern of cannabis use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress. Material and Methods: This systematic review was conducted according to the guidelines. The systematic search of electronic databases PubMed and Google Scholar were searched from 15 September to 15 November 2019. In total 25 articles were found meeting the search title, further hospital and de-addiction center based studies were not taken under consideration. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria total 5 studies were selected for the systematic review. Results: The pooled prevalence of overall substance use and Cannabis use among the study population of included studies came out to be 35.77% and 6.76% respectively. The participants were from less than 10years to greater than to 65years in their age groups. Conclusion: India has a huge "at risk" population vulnerable to cannabis abuse. Various surveys conducted from time to time regarding cannabis use among population can provide useful information about the extent and pattern of cannabis use.

It is a severe public health problem in India. Medical students are vulnerable to develop anemia due to irregular eating habits due to hectic study schedule. Anemia among this age group has significant health consequences resulting in poor cognition, decreased attention span and memory affecting the performance, depressed immunity, repeated infections, increased fatigue, and shortness of breath, dizziness, blurred vision, low endurance and irregular menstruation. Material and Methods: This study is conducted among 100 students of both gender taking admission in MBBS first year at MAMC, Agroha. Hemoglobin values and other relevant details of the students were taken from academic section submitted at time of admission. World Health Organization criteria were taken to determine the severity of anemia. Modified B.G. Prasad scale was used to assess the socioeconomic status of the family. Data was first entered into MS excel sheet and then was exported to SPSS version 20.0 for appropriate analysis. Results: Prevalence of anemia came out to be 54% among study subjects. Difference between the mean levels of hemoglobin across the genders came out be statistically significant (P=<0.001). Conclusion: Prevalence of anemia is high among the study subjects with more prevalence among females study subjects. There is a need to accelerate efforts for achieving control of anemia by strengthening multi-sectoral partnership involving government departments, academic institutions, bilateral agencies and food industry.
