Closed forms of the analytical results are obtained in computational format, and written in terms of the H-function in two variables. The standard non-resonant cases are extended to Tsallis reaction rates through the pathway model. Behavior of the depleted non-resonant thermonuclear function is studied. A comparison of the Maxwell-Boltzmann energy distribution with a more general energy distribution called pathway energy distribution is also done.

A key concern in the design and development of such WSNs is energy consumption. The hierarchical clustering algorithm is a kind of a technique which is used to reduce energy consumption. It can also increase the scalability, stability, and network lifetime. In some clustering schemes, the communication between a sensor node and its designated cluster head (CH) is assumed to be single-hop. However, multihop communication is often required when the communication range of the sensor nodes is limited or the number of sensor nodes is very large in a network. In this paper, we propose a distributed, randomized, multi-hop clustering algorithm to organize the sensor nodes in a WSN into clusters. The data collected by each sensor node communicate with their respective CHs by using multi-hop communication. The selected CHs collect data from member nod...

We report a case of a young male who tested positive for both Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciparum along with dengue infection. He showed signs of early treatment failure to artemisinin combination therapy (artesunate with sulfadoxine+pyrimethamine). Molecular analysis for the drug resistance genes viz: chloroquine resistance (pfcrt), multidrug resistance (pfmdr-1), sulfadoxine (pfdhps), pyrimethamine (pfdhfr), and artemisinin resistance (keltch 13) was performed. A rise in parasitemia from <2% to 5% was observed after 3 days of treatment. Mutations in pfcrt, pfmdr-1, pfdhfr, and pfdhps genes were detected as a possible cause of treatment failure. Increased severity, overlapping symptoms, and suspected resistance to treatment warrants a multidimensional diagnostic approac...

The large propagation delay or critical path within the circuit and improving the hardware which causes delay is a standard method for increasing the performance. The organization of pipeline stages in such a way that pipeline can be clocked at a high frequency. The design has been synthesized at different process technologies targeting using Spartan3, Spartan6, Virtex4, Virtex5 and Virtex6 devices. The synthesis report indicates that critical path delay is located in execution unit. The maximum critical path delay is 41.405ns at 90nm technology and minimum critical path delay is 6.57ns at 40nm technology. The performance comparison result at different technologies shows that pipeline processor can work at 178MHz in 40nm technology i.e. 49.7% better than other technologies.

The four-pillars approach to sustainable mining is discussed, and the issue of how to make coking coal resources sustainable is examined. Today, the formality of opening a mine does not end with getting a permit from the government. It needs further rigorous effort in order to obtain the consent of the local community – known as a social license to operate. The welfare of the local people has to be taken care into account alongside consideration of the environment. In the second part of the chapter, various financial analysis techniques are provided to examine the feasibility of a mining project. Several resource recovery methods are discussed along with methodologies to restrict reduction in losses and contamination of resources as well as consideration being given to extraction of inferior grade deposits. Lastly, guidelines for mine closure plans are given.

Present day mining technology is equipped with cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Benchmarking of the coking coal industry is analyzed through TQM for a better performance. The concept of productivity management is explained and suggestions are made regarding how to improve the low productivity levels of mining operations. The chapter looks at strategic planning (i.e., mining strategies from an Indian perspective) and discusses global mine management. The history of the Indian coal-mining industry is traced back to both the preindependence and postindependence period in order to show how the industry has progressed to the present day. Different aspects of mining are considered: selective mining, special mining methods, highwall mining, coal preparation through deshaling, and quality control. Since the choicest prime coals are only available in the Jharia coalfield, identification of the right type of approach to planning is considered and a proposal is made for its revitalization.

One of its component, Trx, is involved in redox homeostasis and many cellular biological processes through participating in disulfide reduction, S-nitrosylation/S-denitrosylation reactions and protein-protein interactions. In this study, we report the identification of a novel interaction between cytosolic/nuclear Trx1 and apoptosis inducing factor (AIF), and the redox sensitivity and biological significance of the Trx-AIF interaction was characterized. Cytosolic Trx1 but not mitochondrial Trx2 was observed to interact with AIF under physiological conditions and Trx1's active site cysteines were crucial for the interaction. Under oxidative stress conditions, Trx-AIF interaction was disrupted. When the treated cells were allowed to recover from oxidative stress by means of removal of the oxidants, interaction between Trx1 and AIF was re-establised time-dependently, which underpins the biological relevance ...

We found that AdVPE expression was very strongly induced in response to sodium nitroprusside, which indicates its involvement in stress signaling. Induced expression of AdVPE in response to jasmonic acid and ethylene also indicates its involvement in an interconnected network of signaling. Transgenic tobacco plants ectopically expressing AdVPE exhibited enhanced resistance against Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae, Alternaria alternata var. nicotianae and Rhizoctonia solani. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the heterologous expression of a pathogen induced VPE enhancing resistance to fungal pathogens with cell death phenomenon under transient expression.

The theoretical framework of the additive bias corrected extreme value volatility estimator is based on the closed form solution for the joint probability of the running maximum and the terminal value of the random walk. Using the opening, high, low and closing prices of S&P 500, CAC 40, IBOVESPA and S&P CNX Nifty indices, we find that the logarithm of the Add RS estimator is approximately Gaussian and that a simple linear Gaussian long memory model can be applied to forecast the logarithm of the Add RS estimator. The forecast evaluation analysis indicates that the conditional Add RS estimator provides better forecasts of realized volatility than alternative range-based and return-based models.
