Its evaluation could predict the progression to gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. The aim of the study was the analysis of the proliferative activity of the villous trophoblast in the molar vs non-molar lesions. Material and methods: p-57 and Ki-67 were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 15 cases of hydatidiform mole and 18 cases of abortions. Results: The hydatidiform mole was divided based on the immunoexpression of anti-p57 into: complete (8 cases) and partial type (7 cases). Background: Immune cells interact not only with tumor cells but also with stromal cells facilitat... more Background: Immune cells interact not only with tumor cells but also with stromal cells facilitating the progression of neoplasia. The ongoing battle between immune cells and the tumor is an important factor influencing the clinical course and outcome of treatment in various types of cancer. The aim of the study was to identify the prognostic value of dendritic cells and macrophages in prostate carcinoma. Material and methods: This retrospective study analyzed 73 samples of prostate cancer. The macrophages and dendritic cells have been evaluated using the immunohistochemical methods with CD68 (macrophages) and S100 (dendritic cells). Macrophages were quantified as intratumoral and peritumoral, and dendritic cells-intraepithelial and stromal. The results were analyzed statistically. Results: For evaluation of the prognostic impact of immune cells was accomplished a correlation between the total number of CD68+/S100+ cells and the Gleason score. Thus, statistically significant correlations were obtained both for CD68+ cells (intratumoral p=0.008, peritumoral p=0.001), and for S100+ cells (intraepithelial p=0.036, stromal p=0.042). In addition, a statistically significant positive linear correlation was observed between the density of intraepithelial S100+ cells and intratumoral CD68+ cells (p=0.018). Conclusions: The increase in the density of S100+ and CD68+ cells, as well as the significant association of their density with the histological degree of the tumor allow us to consider these cells as predictive biomarkers in prostate carcinomas.

Our aim was to study how MCs density and distribution (intratumoral-MCit versus peritumoral-MCpt) relate to tumor grade and molecular subtypes. Materials and Methods: MCs tryptase immunohistochemistry was performed on 80 cases of breast carcinomas. Results: For Luminal A tumors, a partial correlation was detected between MCit and progesterone receptor (PR) (p=0.005). Luminal B tumors showed a significant correlation between MCpt and age (p=0.009), estrogen receptor (ER) (p=0.017) and PR (p=0.035). MCit and MCpt were strongly interrelated in this subtype (p=0.002) and in triplenegative breast cancers (p=0.002). In HER2 subtype, MCpt tumors were significantly correlated with HER2 (p=0.044). In G2 tumors, MCpt correlated with ER (p=0.015) and PR (p=0.038) while in G3 tumors ER correlated with both MCit (p=0.009) and MCpt (p=0.000487) tumors. Conclusion: MCs dynamics are strongly influenced by hormone receptors and HER2 status. MCit increased in aggressive tumor types and is a worse prognostic factor.
