Two of these species are Urodelan, four are Anuran, four are Lacertilia and five are Ophidia. Two black coloured specimens belongs to Natrix genus collected from biosphere rezerv area are compered with literature data belongs to N. megalocephala . Moreover, t he population and habitat status of threatened species were investigated, required conservation measures were explained.

We examined some hematological parameters and the cytomorphometry of blood cells (erythrocyte, leucocyte and thrombocyte) in 10 (5♂♂, 5♀♀) adult Lycian salamanders, Lyciasalamandra fazilae, from İztuzu-Muğla, Turkey. In 1 mm3 of blood, we estimated the erythrocyte count as 1.06 x105 (0.73 x105-1.40 x105), leucocyte count as 2.14 x103 (1.60 x103–2.87 x103), haemoglobin amount as 5.00 (4.80-5.20) g/dl, hematocrit value as 36.66 (36.00-38.00)%, mean cell volume as 3281.2 (2714.3-3600.0) fl, mean cell ...

The herpetological inventory comprises 43 species, nine amphibians (three urodelans and six anurans) and 34 reptiles (five turtles, 14 lizards and 15 snakes). The species belong to 15 chorotypes according to the classification by vIGnA TAGlIAnTI et al. (1999). Podarcis siculus (RAFIneSque-SChMAlTZ, 1810) and Elaphe sauromates (PAllAS, 1811) represent first records from the Peninsulas of Biga and Gelibolu. environmental factors that constitute threats to the herpetological species in the Province of Çanakkale are briefly addressed.

We present an annotated list for a total of 37 amphibian (20 caudatans and 17 anurans) and 141 reptile species (11 chelonians, 70 lizards, 3 amphisbaenians and 57 snakes) in Turkey, using both available scientific literature up to December 2020 and our own fieldwork data from 1987 to 2020. We provide a comprehensive listing of taxonomy, names, distribution and conservation status of Turkish amphibians and reptiles. The herpetofauna list will be particularly useful for establishing national conservation priorities as well as for placing Turkish fauna into phylogenetic and biogeographic contexts. We compiled information published in books, journals and various web sources and added our personal data. We projected the data in the WGS84 coordinate system and created an overlay grid with cells of 50x50 km 2. The database comprises more than 500 grid cells and 11,913 records. As a result, the distribution of Turkish amphibians and reptiles has been extensively mapped with geographical information systems and a database has been created. The obtained data will be useful in planning future studies on taxonomy, ecology and conservation of Turkish amphibians and reptiles.

P. siculus is a polytypic species, and it has high morphological, color, and pattern variability throughout its range (Arnold and Oven, 2002). The 91 described subspecies of the species were reviewed by Henle and Klaver (1986), and 52 of them were accepted, while 47 of them were endemic to a single island. P. s. hieroglyphicus was first described by Berthold (1840) from İstanbul (Turkey). Later on, the species was reported to inhabit some islands in the Marmara Sea, İstanbul (the European and Asian sides) (

With these records, the distribution of the species is extended about 90km to the north. The specimens were examined morphologically and compared with the relevant literature. In addition, on the basis of the new and literature records, the potential distribution of the species was modelled with ecological niche modelling. The main factors affecting the distribution of the species are the annual mean temperature (bio1, 55.3%), precipitation of driest month (bio14, 18.5%), and annual precipitation (bio12, 10.1%) and account for 84% of the distribution model.

Different numbers of micronuclei were recorded in all snake specimens examined. In addition, three types of nuclear abnormalities were detected: nuclear bud, notched, and blebbed nuclei. The mean MNE frequency (%) was determined to be highest (0.30±0.08) in the N. tessellata specimen caught from Kızılcahamam, the lowest (0.13±0.07) in the D. schmidti specimen caught from Digor. Nuclear abnormalities were encountered in different numbers in the specimens under examination. As a result of this examination on snakes inhabiting three regions of Turkey with different demographical and physical geographical characteristics (Thrace, Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia)...

From the data obtained, no differences were found at species level among the 3 populations from the region.

The most important factors which shaped the present distribution of the species are isothermality and precipitation of driest month. The species is particularly distributed on the Euphrates Valley and in the west and south of Lake Van. According to the future model scenarios, it is predicted that depending on the climate change, there will be some loss in the habitats suitable for the species to inhabit and that its distribution will particularly tend to narrow from its western and eastern boundaries. Accordingly, the pressure of climate change and the other factors on the species is also discussed. In addition, the record of N. strauchii from a new locality in Elazığ (Eastern Anatolia) is first provided in this study.

Natrix tessellata (Laurenti, 1768), which was found in Kaleköy, and Elaphe sauromates (Pallas, 1811), which was detected and photographed around the Education and Resting Association, Ministry of Justice, Republic of Turkey in the vicinity of Şirinköy, were new records for the island’s snake fauna. All specimens except E. sauromates (Pallas, 1811), were found dead in the field. Morphological features of N. tessellata were examined in detail and results were compared with previous studies. Locality information and measurable and countable features of the other specimens are given.

A total of 21 amphibian and reptile species were identified, consisting of two anurans, two turtles, one tortoise, seven lizards, and nine snakes. A zoogeographical assessment was also carried out in which the chorotypes and the IUCN criteria of the species were added.

Of these species, 5 are anurans, 1 is a tortoise, 1 is a turtle, 9 are lizards, and 13 are snakes. In addition, the chorotype classification of the species recorded in the study area and their distributions depending on plants are also provided. It was established that specimens of subspecies Ophisops elegans macrodactylus and O. e. centralanatolia were sympatrically found in the vicinity of Ortaköy and Tuzlukçu. Moreover, in addition to the species determined in previous studies, Platyceps najadum and Hemorrhois nummifer were first detected in this region.

We analyzed stomach contents of 21 (13♂♂, 8♀♀) adult Lycian salamanders, Lyciasalamandra fazilae, inhabiting Gökbel and İztuzu, south of Dalyan (Köyceğiz, Muğla). Although various terrestrial invertebrates constitute the diet of the salamander, larvae and adult beetles (39.61%), centipedes (16.88%) are the most important food groups. Lyciasalamandra fazilae is an active predator capable of changing its feeding regime in proportion to the species richness within its habitat. Key words: Lycian Salamander, ...
