We simultaneously measure the product of the form factor normalization F(1) and the matrix element |V cb | as well as the three parameters ρ 2 , R1(1) and R2(1), which determine the form factors of this decay in the framework of the Heavy Quark Effective Theory. The results, based on about 120,000 reconstructed B 0 → D * − ℓ + ν ℓ decays, are ρ 2 = 1.214 ± 0.034 ± 0.009, R1(1) = 1.401 ± 0.034 ± 0.018, R2(1) = 0.864 ± 0.024 ± 0.008 and F(1)|V cb | = (34.6 ± 0.2 ± 1.0) × 10 −3. The branching fraction of B 0 → D * − ℓ + ν ℓ is measured at the same time; we obtain a value of B(B 0 → D * − ℓ + ν ℓ) = (4.58 ± 0.03 ± 0.26)%. The errors correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties. These results give the most precise determination of the form factor parameters and F(1)|V cb | to date. In addition, a direct, model-independent determination of the form factor shapes has been carried out.

The absolute branching ratio B(O$ + &r+) is studied by searching for fully reconstructed e+e- + oJ*oT events using seven hadronic decay modes of the 0:. A limit of B(ot 4 &r+) < 4.1% at 90% C.L. is obtained. Evidence is presented for the decay D$ + f0(975)z+ which agrees with a recent experimental observation. Upper limits are set for the relative branching ratios B(D,+ + qir+)/B(D,+ --) +r+) < 2.5 and B(Df + q'r+)/B(D$ -+ qkr+) < 1.9, where the 7 is studied in both the y-y and the x+?r-+' decay modes and the '7' in the 'IT-, 5) + yy decay chain. The resonant substructure of D" -+ K-n+*-lr+ and D+ -+ K"*+?T-?T+ is studied. The branching ratio of D" -+ K*'p' is found to be smaller than the theoretically expected whereas the decay modes Do + af K- and D+ -+ .:I?' are found to be large and account for 50% of these final states.

The measurement technique involves a two-dimensional extended likelihood analysis, including the dependence of the end-point population on m ντ , and allows for the first time an explicit background contribution. We use the the decays τ → 5πν τ and τ → 3π2π 0 ν τ to obtain an upper limit of 30 MeV/c 2 at 95% C.L.

A clean sample of tau pair events is identified via events containing two charged particles where exactly one of the particles is an identified electron. We find B(Υ(1S) → τ + τ −) = 2.61 ± 0.12 +0.09 −0.13 %. The result is consistent with expectations from lepton universality.
