This research has been conducted to assess the role of Value Added Tax (Vat) System Implementatio... more This research has been conducted to assess the role of Value Added Tax (Vat) System Implementation on SMEs Financial Reporting in the city of Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. This study describes the empirical review of the role of value-added tax (VAT) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is defined accordingly. Implementation of value-added tax (VAT) is crucial for SMEs because SMEs occupy the major market of any country and generate major revenue for the country. The researcher has adopted a quantitative design for analyzing the impact of the VAT system on the SMEs in Saudi Arabia along with the evaluation of challenges that have been faced by SMEs during VAT compliance. For this purpose, survey questionnaires have been employed to acquire quantitative data, which is advantageous since it is possible to reach a much larger population. A deductive approach is followed by the researcher for this study to conduct a thorough investigation and appropriately analyze the data. Since primary quantitative methods have been used by the existing study, the researcher statistically evaluated the gathered data by using SPSS software, which seems to be comparatively easy for analyzing the larger datasets as well as increases the credibility and validity of the results that indicate VAT is an important tool for attaining a country’s goals and it is not restricting SMEs from their profit margins. This study has significantly supported all the objectives of the study related to the role played by value-added tax on the financial reports of small and medium enterprises.
