Faculties of Medicine in the country acted in line with the decisions of the Higher Education Board (YÖK) and decided to switch to the process of emergency remote teaching. It is the first time that Faculties of Medicine had to apply online distance teaching at this scale. The views of students experiencing this process is important in introducing improvements, developing the process and being able to take correct decisions in similar situations that may arise in future. Objective: This study seeks to assess from the eyes of students the practice of emergency demote teaching by faculties of medicine adopted during the pandemic. Material and Methodology: Upon the approval of the Ministry of Health COVID-19 Scientific Research and Assessment Commission, opinions of medical students from I to V were taken in relation to their means in the process of emergency remote teaching, related teaching practices and measurement and assessment. Having a descriptive character, the study was conducted in the period 13 August-4 September 2020 with the participation of 2.611 students from 84 faculties of medicine. Frequencies and percentages of data obtained were calculated and chi-square test was applied in comparing groups. The approach of descriptive analysis was used in analysing responses to open ended survey questions. Findings: Of 2,611 volunteer students participating to our study 93.4% were from state and 6.6% were from foundation universities. The majority of students say cognitive burden is heavy and tiresome in their experience of emergency demote teaching, there are some missing parts in their education, find it difficult to ensure self-discipline and the process has lifted their level of social isolation higher. Their suggestions for improvement include the "introduction of practical training" and "enhancing interaction." Conclusion: The findings of the study suggest that decisions taken by faculties of medicine in relation to teaching activities and exams must consider the available means of students and their psychosocial and educational needs. It is considered that a process of planning which includes students in decision making will be helpful in ensuring correct and effective steps in this regard.
