But there is also a possibility of collusion amongst certain members thereby driving the cost of electrical energy above the competitive level for a considerable time. This depends upon the amount of market power possessed by these members. This paper assesses the market power possessed by different entities and relative changes after placement of FACTS devices in the power network. TCSC and STATCOM (FACTS Devices) are placed on their optimum location and market power is being analyzed before and after their placement in the network. The analysis is being done on IEEE-14 bus network at MATLAB platform.

With over 95 % patients achieving a sustained viral response at 12 weeks with some of these newly inducted agents, the prospect of eradicating the Hepatitis C virus seems like an achievable target, which makes this one of the most important discoveries in modern medicine. We studied the combination of Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir in patients with chronic hepatitis C infection (Genotype 3) to assess the rates of sustained virological response at 12 weeks. We studied 67 treatment naive METHODS: patients with compensated chronic hepatitis C infection (genotype 3). They were all started on Tab Sofosbuvir 400 mg daily and Tab Daclatasvir 60 mg once daily for 12 weeks and followed up for a total of 24 weeks, which includes a treatment duration and observation period of 12 weeks each. Optical filters provide larger bandwidth with MIMO technology for several applications in 5G communication. Gaussian, Bessel and Rectangle optical filters have been used in this analysis for 5G optical communication. Optical filters are compared in terms of different parameters i.e. beam divergence, range, diameter of transmitter and receiver aperture under fog condition. The results have been plotted for various optical filters based on different parameters. The Q-factor is 765.80 at the range of 100 m for Gaussian optical filter.

The FSO medium is highly dependent on Air Quality and Weather conditions bit error ratio vary depending on the conditions. The aim of this design is to achieve a lower Bit error ratio and to increase the range for the communication. The simulation is designed to improve the quality of communication through FSO channel by reducing the bit error ratio through filtering techniques. The results of this simulation will help future research and implementations of the FSO based wireless optical communication for underground trains. This simulation is based on V2I architecture where the communication is based on FSO technology.

As status of power system changes dynamically, PMU devices provide reliable data synchronized with time. FACTS devices along with PMUs and phasor data concentrator (PDC) can be an efficient tool for real-time monitoring and control of power system. This paper provides a technique to study the localized control and wide area control of power system through a FACTS device. IEEE-14 bus system has been considered for analysis of the control process. First, optimal location and number of PMU is determined through network topology features analysis, and then, localized control and wide area control are simulated in MATLAB software.

At present, renewable energy sources is one of the possible options that have enormous potential to fulfil the ever increasing demand with less impact on environment and society. In the present paper, a grid connected solar photovoltaic/diesel generator powered hybrid system is considered for a remote locality in order to meet the electrical energy demand. The considered hybrid system has been optimized in HOMER software to meet a suitable value of power reliability at minimum net present cost (NPC). Further, energy efficiency based load management technique has been applied in the considered system. Finally, system with and without load management technique are also compared based on several techno-economic parameters.

There is no clear-cut guideline of abdominal wall closure after major abdominal surgeries that can effectively prevent the occurrence of incisional hernia. We found out that most of the patients presented with pain over previous surgery scar with swelling. The defect was usually larger than 2 cm. Most postoperative patients complaint of pain, seroma, and hematoma formation. There was a minimal recurrence rate after onlay mesh repair in our setup.

Ho... more In the present context, many control techniques are available for induction motor (IM) drives. However, among various techniques, direct torque control (DTC) of IM fed by a voltage source inverter (VSI) is recognized as one of the famous control technique used for high performance torque control in induction motors (IM). It is a simple scheme which can be built without any mechanical speed sensors. This scheme is based on the deviance of the estimated values of the motor torque and flux from the predefined standard values. The output of the two-level VSI is voltage vector which is fed to the IM for its control. However, a three-level inverter fulfils the requirement of more exact stator voltage to produce the preferred changes in flux and torque of the induction motor. Therefore, conventional DTC scheme is modified with a three-level Neutral point clamped inverter instead of two-level voltage source inverter. Finally, a comparative analysis of two level and three level inverters has been made in the paper.

In the present paper, a Solar Photovoltaic/Diesel Generator/ Battery-based hybrid system has been considered to meet the electrical energy demand of a remote location of India. The cost of the energy of hybrid system is minimized using a Biogeography-based Optimization (BBO) algorithm under the constraints of power reliability, carbon emission and renewable energy fraction. Load following and cycle charging strategies have been considered in order to investigate the performance analysis of the proposed hybrid system. Further, different component combinations of specifications available on the market are presented for detail analysis. The minimum cost of energy of the proposed hybrid system is obtained as 0.225 $/kWh.

Electronic and optical properties of monolayer tungsten selenide $$(\text {WSe}_2)$$ and cadmium ... more Electronic and optical properties of monolayer tungsten selenide $$(\text {WSe}_2)$$ and cadmium zinc telluride $$(\text {Cd}_{0.9}\text {Zn}_{0.1}\text {Te})$$ heterostructure with VdW, i.e., Van der Waals attractions between two layers, are explored using first-principles calculations. From the results, it is discovered that the proposed heterostructure of $$\text {WSe}_2/\text {Cd}_{0.9}\text {Zn}_{0.1}\text {Te}$$ results into nearly direct band gap semiconducting material and has staggered (Type-II) band gap alignment which is required for opto electronic applications. Moreover, the results suggest that for monolayer $$\text {WSe}_2$$ and $$\text {Cd}_{0.9}\text {Zn}_{0.1}\text {Te}$$ , optical absorption is significant in a limited range of visible spectrum ( $$\approx$$ 420–470 nm) and ( $$\approx$$ 390–430 nm), respectively, but more absorption takes place in the infrared (IR) region for individual layers. However, the absorption in the $$\text {WSe}_2/\text {Cd}_{0.9}\text {Zn}_{0.1}\text {Te}$$ heterostructure results in the red shift phenomenon and high absorption is achieved in the entire visible spectrum ( $$\approx$$ 410–710 nm). Along with the absorption spectrum, dielectric function, refractive index and optical conductivity of the heterostructure are also calculated agreeing with the trends of each other. Desirable band alignment and high absorption coefficient in the visible spectrum can find applications in photovoltaic cells and other opto electronic devices.

With increased emphasis on eco-friendly technologies and high fuel cost associated with conventional energy generation, the use of renewable energy resources (small hydro, biomass, solar, wind energy etc.) are being explored. The present paper is focused on the optimal sizing of a standalone Integrated Renewable Energy System (IRES) which comprises the resources of micro hydro power (MHP), biogas, biomass, solar and wind energy. Initially, a demand response (DR) strategy based on energy consumption scheduling of appliances has been suggested and modelled in the paper. This strategy aims to minimize the peak hourly energy consumption of the study area. Further, different combinations of system components without and with DR strategy were considered and optimized for power reliability criteria of 0% and 5% unmet load. It has been found that significant amount of savings in system sizes and costs are obtained with DR strategy compared to system without DR.
