The experiments are carried out on 40CrMnMoS86 hot worked steel parts. Experiments were conducted by varying the peak current (I), voltage (V), pulse on time (T on), pulse off time (T off) and duty factor (η). The corresponding values of material removal rate, tool wear rate and surface roughness were measured. The relation between machining parameters and performance can be found out with the Grey Relational Analysis (GRA). Developed multi objective model is optimized by Simulated Annealing algorithm (SA) and machining optimal parameters setting is found. A confirmation test is also performed to verify the effectiveness of optimization procedure in determining the optimum levels of machining parameters. The consequences show that the combination of Taguchi technique, grey relational analysis and simulated annealing algorithm is quite efficient in determining optimal EDM process parameters.

The experimental data are gathered based on Taguchi L36 design matrix. The tests are conducted under varying peak current (I), voltage (V), pulse on time (Ton), pulse off time (Toff) and duty factor (). The effects of these input parameters are then determined on three important process output responses, namely; Surface Roughness (SR), Tool Wear Rate (TWR) and Material Removal Rate (MRR). Using these data and signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio analysis, the process parameters can be set to achieve desired surface roughness, tool wear and material removal rates. Next, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and F–test have been used to evaluate the relative significance of process variables affecting process outputs. A set of verification tests is also performed to verify the accuracy of optimization procedure in determining the optimal levels of machining pa...

The aim of this study was to compare emotional empathy, cognitive empathy, and social functioning among different age groups, including adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. One hundred and ninety-six people (92 males, 104 females) with the age range of 14 to 85 assigned to four age groups (adolescents, young adults, middle adults, and older adults) participated in this study. Participants were asked to complete the Empathy Quotient, the Revised Eyes Test, and Social Functioning Scale. The results showed that there were significant differences between older adults and other groups. Emotional empathy increased in older people, but there were deficits in some aspects of cognitive empathy. Also, the findings showed an age-related decline in social functioning. Due to deficits in cognitive empathy affected by ageing, older adults showed some impairment in their ability to interpret emotional cues. This age-related decline in cognitive empathy might be a reason for weak social functioning in older adults. Therefore, considering these elements would be helpful to provide healthcare strategies for elderly people.
