In addition, capacity of fungi to produce ochratoxin A, patulin, cyclopiazonic acid and sterigmatocystin was analyzed. Of the isolates, 85.7% belonged to Penicillium (P. commune/biforme, P. crustosum) and 14.3% to Aspergillus (A. puulaauensis and A. jensenii), the first time that these Aspergillus species have been found in sheep’s cheese. All P. commune isolates were producers of cyclopiazonic acid, and the two Aspergillus strains produced sterigmatocystin, but the others did not produce any tested mycotoxin. Among the essential oils tested, oregano, savory and tarragon ha...

During 18 weeks, milk from five hinds was monitored for composition, bacteriology, somatic cell count (SCC), physical properties and rennet coagulation. Mean values (g/100 g) for fat, protein, lactose and dry matter were 10.4, 7.1, 4.3 and 24.2, respectively, and for urea, 265 mg/100 mL. Except for lactose, a significant increase in these components was observed (p < 0.01) as lactation progressed. The average values for bacteriology and SCC were 5.3 log cfu/mL and 4.7 log cells/mL, respectively. Regarding physical properties, conductivity (mean: 2.8 ms/cm), viscosity (3.1 Cp), coordinates L* (89.9) and a* (−3.1) and milk fat globule diameter (D4,3: 6.1 µm) increased along with lactation while density (1.038 g/mL) decreased (p < 0.01). However, the development of such software is not an easy task. Model-driven development can be a help in this sense, provided that the peculiarities of collaborative learning systems are taken into account. In this paper, we introduce a model-driven development method for collaborative learning systems that gives support to group graphical modeling. The method is based on the use of models by different roles all over the development, and it also considers pedagogical usability factors to guarantee that the generated systems have into account the factors that are typical in the learning field. In order to have a measure of the usefulness of the method, we have applied it to create a series of collaborative modeling tools. These systems and the method have been evaluated by teachers/professors of different fields, who have stated a f...

Animals were exposed to graded concentrations of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (10, 40, 100 and 270 ppb) for 21 days, then zebrafish were sacrificed by an overdose of anaesthetic solution tricaine methanesulfonate, and immediately samples were taken for morphological evaluation. At lower concentrations of exposure there was no evidence of morphological modifications, while at higher concentrations (100 and 270 ppb) we frequently observed degeneration and inflammation. Significant increases in follicular atresia were observed among all groups (p<0.05). These results indicate that long-term exposure to low doses of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin are able to induce morphological damage on the ovaries, which could then produce adverse effects on fish reproduc...

This workshop focused on the formulation of evidence-based consensus statements and clinical recommendations. Methods: Four systematic reviews covering the areas of alveolar ridge preservation/ bone grafting, immediate early and delayed implant placement and alveolar bone augmentation at the time of implant placement in a healed ridge formed the basis of the deliberations. The level of evidence supporting each consensus statement and its strength was described using a modification of the GRADE tool. Results: The evidence base for each of the relevant topics was assessed and summarized in 23 consensus statements and 12 specific clinical recommendations. Platform-switched implants were placed in the posterior maxilla or mandible of partial edentulous patients and they were randomized to receive the definitive abutment at the moment of implant placement, or 6-12 weeks later. Final prostheses were delivered 2-4 weeks later. Radiographic assessment of vertical bone level changes (primary outcome), clinical status of peri-implant tissues, changes in soft tissues margin, papilla filling, patient-related outcomes and adverse events were assessed 6 and 12 months after loading. 60 implants were placed in 40 patients, replacing single or multiple absent teeth. One implant was lost 1 week after insertion (overall survival rate: 98.3%). A statistically significant greater bone resorption from surgery to 6 months post-loading was observed for those implants subjected to abutment change (control group: -1.24 ± 0.79 mm; test group: -0.61 ± 0.40 mm; P = 0.028). Periodontal clinical parameters and patient-related outcomes, however, did not demonstrate significant differences between groups at any time point. A significant increase in papilla height was observed from loading to 12 months in all implants (control group: 1.17 ± 1.47 mm; test group: 0.98 ± 0.89 mm) and a slight but not significant coronal migration of the gingival margin. The connection and disconnection of healing abutments is associated with significantly increased bone loss during the healing period between implant placement and 6 months post-loading, when compared to one-time abutment placement.

Eligible patients had ECOG performance status 0-2 and received ≤3 prior chemotherapy regimens. An initial accelerated titration design enrolling one patient per dose level was followed by 3 + 3 dose escalation with the first observation of a grade ≥2 adverse event (AE). We tested escalating doses of BMS-936561 (0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 15 mg/kg) administered every 21 days in a 42 day cycle for a maximum of 17 cycles. Pharmacokinetic samples were collected in cycle 1. A total of 26 patients enrolled; 16 and 10 for the escalation and expansion cohorts, respectively. Median age was 63 years (48-74); 18 males and 25 Caucasians. There was no defined MTD per protocol, but a DLT of grade 3 hypersensitivity was recorded in 2 of 16 (13 %) subjects at the highest dose of 15 mg/kg. The most frequent AEs were: fatigue (85 %), nausea (54 %), and decreased appetite (39 %). Delayed toxicities (facial edema and pleural/pericardial effusions) occurred in 6 of 16 (38 %) subjects at the 15 mg/kg dose. PK analysis showed a dose-proportional increase in active drug levels with increasing doses. There was disease stabilization in 18 of 26 patients (69 %) without correlation with received dose. BMS-936561 is well tolerated over a wide range of doses in patients with advanced ccRCC and B-NHL. The 8 mg/kg dose was the highest best tolerated dose and the recommended dose for future studies.

Here, we aimed to assess lenvatinib, everolimus, or their combination as second-line treatment in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. We did a randomised, phase 2, open-label, multicentre trial at 37 centres in five countries and enrolled patients with advanced or metastatic, clear-cell, renal cell carcinoma. We included patients who had received treatment with a VEGF-targeted therapy and progressed on or within 9 months of stopping that agent. Patients were randomised via an interactive voice response system in a 1:1:1 ratio to either lenvatinib (24 mg/day), everolimus (10 mg/day), or lenvatinib plus everolimus (18 mg/day and 5 mg/day, respectively) administered orally in continuous 28-day cycles until disease progression or unacceptable toxic effects. The randomisation procedure dynamically minimised imbalances between treatment groups for the stratification facto...
