They serve a wide variety of physiological functions in humans and animals. Metabolism plays a central role in regulating the toxicity of various phytochemicals. Available literature of biological sources and metabolism study of pyrrolidine, pyrrolizidine, pyridine, quinoline, isoquinoline, phenanthrene, phenethylamine, indole, terpenoid, and aporphine groups of experimental plants-derived alkaloids were collected from the Google Scholar, PubMed/Medline, Science Direct, Scopus, Wiley Online Library, and Web of Science search engines. The literature reveals that hepatic microsomal enzymes such as monooxygenase and putative NADPH-FMN-reductase, carboxyl esterase, CYP2B6, CYP3A4, and CYP2D6 are primarily involved in the metabolism of alkaloids. This review may encourage natural product researchers to further research and develop new plant-derived alkaloidal drugs.

It ranks first among edible fishes because of its exquisite taste, delicate culinary talents, and remarkable taste. Available literature of T. ilisha was collected from Google Scholar, PubMed/Medline, Science Direct, Scopus, Wiley Online Library, and Web of Science search engine. T. ilisha is a large tropical fish comprising amino acids, minerals, and lipids, especially polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). The fatty acid, i.e., ɷ-3 and ɷ-6 fatty acid acquired from T. ilisha, plays a crucial role in curbing cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, dementia, and other neurological disorders. T. ilisha is enriched in essential minerals such as Na, K, Ca, and Mg and vitamins like A, D, E, and K, which are fat-soluble. This review highlights the proximate compositions, minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, and amino acids of T. ilisha (fresh). The outcome of the present studies signifies ...

Over time, various newer therapies and medications have been developed to alleviate this disease. Although the traditional therapies seem to lower blood glucose levels to some extent, it is sometimes observed that these traditional therapies do not work well in some patients, which may be due to numerous other existing pathological conditions in them. To overcome these problems, small and more bioavailable formulations along with phytocomponents embedded in Phytosomes are gaining potential. This review paper mainly focuses on the mechanism of phytosome-based drug delivery for the alleviation of diabetes and a brief description of the different types of diabetes mellitus, its causes and diagnosis. By reading this article, researchers will get a brief idea of Phytosomes and their mechanism in diabetes. Phytosomes are ba...

This review paper aims to highlight some of the medicinal values and extraction techniques used to obtain the extract. Studies have shown that qualitative screening tests of extracts from different parts of the plant have detected terpenoids, tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides and reducing sugars. Among the extraction solvents used, chloroform extraction of Croton joufra leaves is considered the most effective extraction. These results indicate that Croton joufra may have various unexplored medicinal values in addition to its existing uses. In addition to medicinal uses, this plant is also popular among locals for secondary purposes. Since this plant is abundant in the north-eastern region of India in association with other useful plants, i...

It is estimated that the number of diabetes patients will rise from 382 million in 2013 to 592 million by 2035 as per the data published by the Current International Diabetes Federation. Daily life style and day to day unhealthy food habits, diabetes is prevalent among the young people too along with the aged people due to their ageing. Diabetes mellitus is a disorder where there is insufficiency of insulin having the symptoms excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, weight loss, results in blood sugar level to be drastically high. One may observe a drastic increase in blood glucose level which lead to various types of health complications like retinopathy, nerve damage etc. Various treatment strategies are available among these the modern treatment strategy includes sulfonylureas, GLP-1 agonist, DPP4- inhibitors, metformin, PPAR-γ agonists, bariatric surgery etc. In this r...

The traditional healers of Barak Valley region of Assam used traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases including helminths infection. Hence the current study was planned to explore the traditional medicines namely Justicia adhatoda, Vernonia amygdalina, Mikania micrantha and Momordica charantia used as anthelmintic activity by the local people of Barak Valley region of Assam. The decoction of leaves of Justicia adhatoda, Vernonia amygdalina, Mikania micrantha and Momordica charantia were prepared for the phytochemical studies and anthelmintic activity. The phytochemical study demonstrated the presence of flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compounds, alkaloids and glycosides in Justicia adhatoda, Vernonia amygdalina, Mikania micrantha and Momordica charantia. The Justicia adhatoda, Vernonia amygdalina, Mikania micrantha and Momordica charantia showed significant ant...

It is most often found in cancer patients and is of growing concern. While the main causes of thrombocytopenia in cancer patients are chemotherapy and radiation, other aetiologies should also be considered in patients suffering from this debilitating disease. Thrombocytopenia causes a variety of complications in the treatment of cancer patients and therefore pharmacists need to be familiar with epidemiology, pathophysiology, risk factors, diagnostic methods, and emerging therapeutic options for chronic immune thrombocytopenia to help oncologists identify and implement realistic treatment measures for chronic immune thrombocytopenia patients undergoing cancer treatment. The objective of this review is to provide a brief overview of chronic immune thrombocytopenia and va...

Sometimes patients suffer amoebiasis as an asymptomatic behavior. In 1859 scientist W.D. Lambl first described the amoebiasis vector E. histolytica. In developing countries, millions of people die due to amoebiasis. A doctor diagnosed the disease detection of E. histolytic antigen in stool or antibodies against the parasite in serum. Metronidazole, tinidazole, lodoquinol, diloxanide furoate are given for amoebiasis patients. In this review, we have summarized the statistics, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment strategy of amoebiasis disease. It also gives information about the life cycle of E. histolytica.
