The paper studies interpretations of Plato’s works by Neg-Kantian philosophers (P. Natorp, E. Cassirer) and M. Heidegger. Neo-Kantians were mostly interested in Plato’s logical investigations, at the same time they ignored historical and political dimensions of the dialogues. This image of Plato as a pure theoretical mind was almost predestined to fi t Nietzsche’s task of “overcoming of Platonism”. Arguably, it was the Neo-Кantian version of Plato, that Heidegger rejected and criticized. But some of Heidegger’s own key concepts are very close to those elements of Plato’s thinking, which were ignored by Neo-Kantians. The most interesting case here is political interpretation of Plato’s philosophy in Heidegger’s lecture course “The essence of truth”.
