The purpose of image fusion algorithms is to achieve a single image with high spatial resolution and high spectral resolution. The major challenges faced by existing algorithms are of output image quality in terms of colour distortion and blurring. This paper models the spatio-spectral image fusion as a problem of non-linear dimensionality reduction. The aim is to define each point of fused image as a linear combination of its neighbours in multi spectral image and the corresponding pixel values from down scaled panchromatic image. The assumption here is that the spectral behaviour of fused image is similar to that of multispectral image. The performance of the model is compared with existing state of the art methods for same-sensor dataset.

Due to the continuous increase in population, road traffic is increasing at alarming rates and the problem of congestion is also increasing in metro cities. These new services will provide improved ways for individuals to go around urban communities and urban territories while decreasing blockage. eVTOLs are aircraft that are capable of Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) with no requirement of run-up space and are tremendously getting popular when it comes to UAM due to the important factor of clean propulsion with zero-emission. The industry is rapidly proposing and adopting new vehicle concepts to meet consumer demands and hence conceptually designing these vehicles with basic guidelines will set a preliminary foundation for more innovative technologies to come. This research work sets a baseline procedure and an initial iteration example for the industries and upcoming companies in this sector hence focuses on the Conceptual designing of eVTOLs. The novelty of the presented work lies in enhanced eVTOL configuration using coaxial ducted tilt rotors with wings.
Microgap thermionic energy converters and nanogap thermophotovoltaic devices can efficiently gene... more Microgap thermionic energy converters and nanogap thermophotovoltaic devices can efficiently generate electricity from heat without using moving parts. However, converters that have diminutive spacings are difficult to operate and challenging to manufacture at scale. Previous efforts to establish small gaps, such as microfabricated pillars or nanobeads, have resulted in problems including excessive parasitic heat transfer and temperature limitations. To overcome these obstacles, we have developed a microfabricated spacer film that incorporates precisely positioned standoffs in order to limit the area available for conductive losses. We show that this film increases thermal resistance by more than 50% relative to previous designs and demonstrate its use in a thermionic converter to achieve a temperature difference of ~350 K over a gap of $\sim 2~\mu \text{m}$ across an area of ~1.25 cm2. These films will allow mass production of efficient, high-power-density solid-state electricity generators. [2020-0174]

The diagnosis of AOM is based on symptoms of fever, otalgia and/or any or all of the following signs such as erythema, bulging, fluid behind tymphanic membrane, having limited or absent mobility of tymphanic membrane, and finally otorrhea. Unnecessary antibiotics use leads to antibiotic resistance among causes of otitis media. Decision-making in giving or avoiding antibiotics has been controversial. Watchfulwaiting has been advocated in recent years for the treatment of uncomplicated AOM in children older than 2 years.

Despite high investment and advanced technology, defects like thinning, cracks and wrinkles are still common in products in the sheet metal forming industries. Variation of the process parameter is an unavoidable reality resulting in heavy investment in process control technologies like adaptive control and closed-loop systems. The limitations of a control system mandate an inspection line post-production. With this scheme, the dependence of product quality on the effectiveness of the inspection line can be reduced. The project that was undertaken herein mainly focuses on design and fabrication of online inspection measurement system which is used to monitor the process parameters-alignment, uneven force distribution and non-uniform pneumatic pressure. Comparison of real-time values is done with ideal value of process parameters to check variation of values in the press line. The readings on GUI of MATLAB show the exact parameters of the system at particular instants through which estimation of the reason for defect and an exact number of defective pieces can be found. The experiments affirmed the importance of process parameters in the consistency of quality through the feedback from sensors. The scheme can successfully reduce both producer and consumer risk. Savings in space, time, manpower and capital in inspection system can also be achieved.

Each year, over 2900 children (0 to 19 y of age) are diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), making ALL the most common type of childhood cancer. 1 As survival rates improve and more children with leukemia are entering remission with standardized protocols and utilization of novel treatment regimens, there has been a concerted effort to study costeffective strategies for better outcomes of pediatric leukemia. A recent study predicted that utilization of adherence promotion strategies in leukemia care could lead to superior health outcomes based on quality-adjusted life-years and an average of 3000 USD cost-saving per patient with a pediatric leukemia diagnosis. 1 Similar cost-benefit analyses have been performed in accurate diagnostic and prognostic testing. Most recently the Canadian model predicted 1-year cost expenditure for minimal residual disease (MRD) testing by flow cytometry in newly diagnosed patients with precursor B-cell ALL was estimated at $340,760. 2 MRD while hailed as a benchmark for prognostication in outcomes, yet still remains too expensive for developing countries, that bear a big chunk of the global morbidity and mortality from pediatric cancer. A study in 2012, looking at absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) demonstrated that high ALC on day 29 of induction day, to be an independent, clinically significant predictor of improved relapse-free survival and overall survival. 3 Newer strategies such as utilization of day 8 blast count ("Flow cytometry-based absolute blast count on day 8: reliable, fast, and inexpensive method. JPHO Manuscript number: JPHO-20-122") provide critical metrics needed by novel artificial intelligence predictive models, that may not only prove cost-effective and efficient but also accurate in diagnostic screening and predicting relapse rates. Machine learning models utilizing existing hematologic metrics and indices that are commonly performed in all patients with a hematologic malignancy are already under study. 4,5 A recent in-depth analysis of using cell population data generated from next-generation hematologic analyzers proved its usefulness in the screening of hematologic and nonhematologic diseases such as sepsis. 6 What limits their accuracy and validity is, finding variables that are relevant, affordable, and can be obtained globally to improve the sample size of these models to be able to give a representative date. Day 8 blast count, ALC, MRD in combination could prove to be useful in refining the accuracy of predicting outcomes for pediatric leukemia. Thus investing in clinical and bench research to identify cost-effective hematologic matrices, beyond MRD, could prove vital in using technologic advances to better outcomes in pediatric cancer.

For this purpose, experimental investigations are carried out to inspect the consequences of ZnO nanoparticles addition for performance and emissions features of a 4-stroke, single-cylinder diesel engine. ZnO nanoparticles were mixed with pure diesel in varying proportions ranging from 5 to 25 mg. The better dispersion of ZnO nanoparticles in diesel was attained by means of magnetic stirrer and ultrasonication process. The test fuels were experimented at varying engine loads of 2 kW, 4 kW, 6 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW and 12 kW at 1500 rpm engine speed. It was observed that among different test fuels, an enhancement in brake thermal efficiency was achieved by 15.58% and reduction of 11.11% in brake specific fuel consumption for 20ZnO60DF (20 mg ZNP + 20 mg CTAB surfactant + 600 ml diesel) at 12 kW engine load as compared with neat diesel. The toxic emissions of NO X , HC, CO, CO 2 and particulate matter with the inclusion of 20ZnO60DF were significantly decreased by 57.46%, 78.78%, 58.93%, 41.85% and 42.51%, respectively, as correlated with pure diesel fuel at 12 kW condition with 18 compression ratio. The recommended optimal combination of ZnO nanoparticle-diesel with optimal compression ratio for better performance and reduced emissions level was found out to be 20ZnO60DF with compression ratio 18. So, it is concluded that ZnO nanoparticles addition to diesel could be accepted as a clean alternative fuel as it emits lesser emissions and acts as environmental-friendly fuel.

A single IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) quasi resonant power stage is the most popular topology for this application. In this paper we explain method in which the topology works reliably irrespective of widely varying input voltage, open loop operation and inconsistent utensil material. A protection scheme involving both hardware and firmware has been discussed. The protection scheme comprises of an efficient control-algorithms and the IGBT behaves as an active self-clamp. An induction cooker/heater prototype of 1.8kW rating has been developed with the proposed protection scheme. The results reveal that the scheme proposed provides an enhanced protection to the IGBT and increases the end product reliability manifold while reducing warranty costs to the manufacturer.
