Accordingly, the present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of positive thinking training on mental toughness and social well-being in derelict adolescents. The research method was quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all derelict adolescents aged 13 to 18 years under the auspices of the Welfare Center of Karaj, Iran in the second six months of 2020. By accessible sampling method, 30 people were selected and randomly assigned to the control and experimental groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group received a Rashid (2009) Positive Intervention Package in 14 sessions for seven weeks, two 60-minutes sessions per week. The control group did not receive any intervention during this period. Research data were collected using Clough et al. Mental Toughness Questionnaire and Keyes's Social Well-being questionnaire (KSWBQ). Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to test the research hypotheses. The results indicated that positivity education increased the mental toughness and social well-being in derelict adolescents. Accordingly, the findings suggest that supportive institutions use positivity thinking training as an effective intervention to increase the positive virtues such as mental toughness and social well-being in derelict adolescents.

The method of study was a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest design and control group. The statistical population of the study included adolescents in Tehran in the years 2020-2021. From this statistical population, 30 people were available selected and randomly assigned to two groups (15 people in each group). The research instruments included Davis Empathy Questionnaire (1983) and Bass and Perry Aggression Questionnaire (1992). The experimental group received 12 sessions of music training (one and a half hours per week) and the control group did not receive any music training or psychological intervention. In addition to descriptive indicators, multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze data. SPSS statistical analysis software version 25 was used for data analysis. The results showed that music education has a significant effect on all four components of aggression (physical, verbal, anger and hostility) and all three components of empathy (empathetic concern, perspective and personal confusion) (P=0.001). The results showed that in educational and therapeutic environments, music education is an effective intervention to reduce aggressive behaviors and increase empathy in adolescents.
