This novel satellite image fusion method based on estimation theory EM algorithm and reinforced by Bootstrap approach was successfully implemented and tested. The sensor images are firstly split by a Bayesian segmentation method to determine a joint region map for the fused image. Then, we use the EM algorithm in conjunction with the Bootstrap approach to develop the bootstrap EM fusion algorithm, hence producing the fused targeted image. We proposed in this research to estimate the statistical parameters from some iterative equations of the EM algorithm relying on a reference of representative Bootstrap samples of images. Sizes of those samples are determined from a new criterion called 'hybrid criterion'. Consequently, the obtained results of our work show that using the Bootstrap EM (BEM) in image fusion improve performances of estimated ...

Background During a cardiac rehabilitation program coronary artery disease (CAD) patients should be trained at an intensity as close as possible to the ventilatory threshold (VT) level. The precise way to obtain this intensity of training during the sessions, however, remains unclear. Methods In stable b-blocked CAD patients, heart rate (HR) and workload (WL) at the VT were determined from a cardiopulmonary exercise test. The 3 following days, each patient performed (in a randomized order) one bicycle training

This concerns recent designs of hearing aid systems dedicated to restoring hearing, at least partially. In general, the apparatus could be in two basic forms: a conventional hearing aid dedicated to restore hearing loss that is not severs, and cochlear prostheses dedicated to restoring total or profound hearing

The design used to transfer power and data to the implanted devices. This work describes the implementation of a 0.35μm CMOS integrated circuit using 3.3v supply dedicated to cochlear prosthesis. In the wireless biomedical implants the carrier frequency, which represent the resonant frequency of the power amplifier is limited to a few tens of megahertz because of the incremental tissue loss and risk of tissue damage at higher frequencies. The system uses synchronous frequency-shift-keyed (FSK) modulation, with 5/10 MHz carrier frequencies, based on the class E power oscillator. The Class-E power oscillator has been identified as a highly-efficient transmitter circuit for use as a means of transferring power to an implant. Although the high-Q nature of this topology makes rapid modulation difficult, it is feasible to use synchronous frequency-shift-keyed (FSK) modulation of the ...

The study analysed the poverty-environmental degradation nexus among arable crop farmers in Plate... more The study analysed the poverty-environmental degradation nexus among arable crop farmers in Plateau State, Nigeria. Using multi-stage sampling technique, 265 farming households were randomly sampled from 9 communities spread across three Local Government Areas of the three agro ecological zones in the State. Primary data generated from farming household heads through well-structured questionnaires were used. The household's income, expenditure and information on factors that lead to environmental degradation dominated the bulk of the data. The data were analysed using Foster, Greer and Thorbecke (FGT) index and probit regression model. The monthly mean per adult equivalent household expenditure (MPAEHE) was N3,940. A poverty line of N2,627 was estimated, based on this poverty line, the FGT measures show that 42% of the farming households in the study area were poor. The probit regression result revealed that the quantity of wood collected, number of animals allowed to graze and length of time they graze were significant (P<0.01). A unit increase in any of these variables would lead to the probability of an increase in the poverty depth of the farmers. Knowledge of natural resource conservation was significant (P<0.05) and farm size was significant (P<0.10). Increasing any of these variables by a unit, would result to the probability of decreasing poverty among the households. Hence the hypothesis that there is a strong and direct relationship between these phenomena of poverty-environment trap thesis is accepted. It is recommended that there is the need for policy makers and managers of poverty alleviation programmes to identify the poor at community levels so as to direct poverty programmes and projects towards them. Also environmental aid should be introduced to abate environmental degradation.

Purposive method of sampling was use to select the two districts based on the prevalence of Cattle Fattening Enterprise. The second stage sampling involved random selection of 45 fatteners from a sampling frame of 450 sample frame. The data was collected through the use of structured questionnaire. The data collected include information on the output and the inputs used and their prices using the questionnaire method of data collection. The data collected were analysed using the Net farm income analysis, gross profit margin ratio, current ration and debt/asset ratio. The result of the Net farm income analysis showed ₦208,310.00 per head of cattle fattened. The result of the gross profit margin ration revealed a ratio of 0.43:1, implying that for everyone naira invested in the fattening enterprise, 43 kobo will be realized. Similarly, the result of the current ration revealed a ratio of 172:1, implying that the current assets can more than pay for the current liabilities in the event of bankruptcy. And the debt/asset ratio indicates the ratio of 6032:1, implying high solvency. Therefore, the study revealed that the small-scale cattle fattening enterprise is profitable and viable venture. The main constrain militating against the smooth operation of the enterprises is the lack of access to formal credit facilities. This implies that the small fattening enterprises have no access to any formal credit institutions in the study area.

This realization is motivated by the eminent need of real-time systems in modern computer science courses. The majority of the technical choices are made after qualitative comparison. The main goal of this distribution is to offer standard Operating Systems (OS) that include Xenomai infrastructure and the essential tools to begin hard real-time application development inside a convivial desktop environment. The released live/installable DVD can be adopted to emulate several classic RTOS Application Program Interfaces (APIs), directly use and understand real-time Linux in convivial desktop environment and prototyping real-time embedded applications.

The last advantage has induced the growth of the number of cores or Intellectual Properties (IPs) in a same chip. Unfortunately, this important number of IPs has caused a new issue which is the intra-communication between the elements of a same chip. To resolve this problem, a new paradigm has been introduced which is the Network-On-Chip (NoC). Since the introduction of the NoC paradigm in the last decade, new methodologies and approaches have been presented by research community and many of them have been adopted by industrials. The literature contains many relevant studies and surveys discussing NoC proposals and contributions. However, few of them have discussed or proposed a comparative study of NoC tools. The objective of this work is to establish a reliable survey about available design, simulation or implementation NoC tools. We collected an important amount of information and characteristics about NoC dedicated tools that we will present throughout this survey. This study is built around a respectable amount of references and we hope it will help scientists.

We investigated the efficacy and safety of a standardized periprocedural anticoagulation regimen with low-molecular-weight heparin. Methods: We studied 650 consecutive patients with a mechanical heart valve, chronic atrial fibrillation, or embolic stroke who required interruption of warfarin therapy because of an invasive procedure. Warfarin was stopped 5 or 6 days before the procedure, and patients received subcutaneous dalteparin sodium, 100 IU/kg twice daily, starting 3 days before the procedure. The risk of postprocedural bleeding determined postprocedural anticoagulant management. In patients undergoing a nonhigh-bleeding-risk procedure who had adequate postprocedural hemostasis, warfarin was resumed on the evening of the procedure, and dalteparin sodium, 100 IU/kg twice daily, was resumed on the next day and continued until the international normalized ratio was 2.0 or more. If postprocedural hemostasis was not secured, the resumption of dalteparin was delayed. In patients undergoing a high-bleeding-risk procedure, warfarin was resumed on the evening of the procedure, but dalteparin was not given after the procedure. Results: Patients were followed up during the preprocedural and postprocedural period for a mean of 13.8 days (range, 10-18 days). In 542 patients who underwent a non-high-bleeding-risk procedure, there were 2 thromboembolic events (0.4%), 4 major bleeding episodes (0.7%), and 32 episodes of increased wound-related blood loss that precluded postprocedural dalteparin administration (5.9%). In 108 patients who underwent a highbleeding-risk procedure, there were 2 deaths (1.8%) possibly due to thromboembolism and 2 major bleeding episodes (1.8%). Conclusions: In patients at increased risk for arterial thromboembolism who require temporary interruption of warfarin therapy, a standardized periprocedural anticoagulant regimen with low-molecular-weight heparin is associated with a low risk of thromboembolic and major bleeding complications.

This paper examines the moderating role of negative affectivity and risk aversion in the relation... more This paper examines the moderating role of negative affectivity and risk aversion in the relationships of two bases of continuance organizational commitment (continuancesacrifices and continuance-alternatives) to turnover, within a stress-coping perspective. More specifically, we propose that (a) the perspective of leaving is a source of stress for those who stay due to the fear of losing valued advantages (i.e. high continuancesacrifices commitment) and (b) staying is perceived to be stressful by individuals who remain based on a lack of employment alternatives (i.e. high continuance-alternatives commitment). We argue that these perceptions are magnified by negative affectivity and risk aversion, resulting in individuals who present these traits to use avoidancewithdrawal strategies in coping with these situations. Accordingly, based on a sample of 509 human resource management professionals, we found (a) negative affectivity and risk aversion to strengthen the negative relationship of continuance-sacrifices commitment to turnover and (b) continuance-alternatives commitment to relate positively to turnover among individuals with high negative affectivity. We discuss the implications of these findings for our understanding of how commitment mindsets and personality traits affect turnover decisions.
