The purpose of this study is to prove the relationship between ethical principle and corporate governance. This study employs case-study approach comprising three Malaysian cases. Each case will be analyzed parallel to the governance principle of promoting the best interest for the company. Board of directors (BOD) is emphasized throughout this study due to the important role of BOD in the structure of corporate governance. This study suggests that in order to execute corporate governance effectively, it must be based on ethical principles. As a result, ethical principles are included in the corporate governance rules as reflected by the terms of "proper purpose", "in good faith in the best interest of the company", "reasonable care" and "diligence". These terms contain subjective and relative meaning. For this study, corporate governance rule cannot be separated from the confinement pillars of ethical principles. Thus, the study reiterates Smith argument that moral sentiment should underly human economic activities, including the jurisdiction of corporate management.

This study aims to explore the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and two independent variables comprise of locus of control and world view among those involve in social entrepreneurial venture in Malaysia. Design/Method/Approach: Self-administered questionnaires had been distributed to 87 natural farming participants in Pulau Banggi Sabah and Batang Lupar Sarawak. The questionnaire consists of 4 sections aimed to measure studied variables comprise of the benefit of project, entrepreneurial orientation, locus of control and worldview. Findings: The cross tabulation analysis shows that participants with the open world of view have demonstrated a higher entrepreneurial orientation (EO); while the closed-group demonstrates lower entrepreneurial orientation (EO). Furthermore, the analysis also shows that participants with external locus of control demonstrate higher EO as opposed to the internal locus of control group. The Spearman correlation analysis also indicates a significant association between EO and locus of control [r=0. 473, p= 0.00] as well as EO and world view [r= 0.552, p=0. 00]. Such results indicate that social entrepreneurs must possess high locus of control and opened-world view as both determine the existence of EO in social entrepreneurial endeavors. Originality/Value: The originality of this study lies in its attempt to explore the individual factors that potentially influence the effectiveness and variation in social entrepreneurial projects. Besides, the most important contribution of this study is to incorporate EO variable into social entrepreneur research context.

However, the nature of the arrangement of the polymers within the aggregates and the spatial organization of the aggregates remain an unresolved issue. We report the results of coarse-grained Langevin dynamics simulations, which investigated the self-assembly behavior of rod−coil−rod BCPs in a coil-selective solvent. We observe a rapid formation of cylindrically shaped multichain clusters. The initial stages of formation of the aggregates was seen to be independent of the strength of the solvent selectivity. However, for higher solvent selectivities, the clusters were seen to merge into larger units at later stages. A reduction in rod to coil block ratio was observed to decrease the size and number of clusters. In the limit of a highly concentrated solution, we observe the formation of a networked system of distinct clusters, which however retain the cylindrical arrangement observed at lower polymer concentrations.

Color is an important quality attribute that affects consumer acceptance and preference in the food industry. Human perception of color has been used as an indirect measure for classifying fruits in indices as fruits matured and ripened. This study was conducted to measure fruit quality by using visible optical fiber sensors that contains of RGB LEDs which are red, green and blue with peak wavelengths at 635 nm, 525 nm, and 470 nm, respectively. Moreover, this study aims to provide an innovative and low-cost approach for nondestructive fruit quality measurement. Multiple linear regressions was applied to develop calibration models for classifying fruits based on the index. Results showed that the proposed optical instruments can produce good and accurate measurements when evaluating the index. The highest coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.879), was obtained by using a combination of red, green, and blue data sets at various ripeness indices. Meanwhile, the optical fiber of red system generated by the monochromatic wavelength exhibited better precision (R2 = 0.795) compared with the other two wavelengths. In conclusion, the application of these systems leads to the rapid and efficient assessment of the quality measurement of mangoes.

Color alteration is one of the major indicators of the maturity and level of ripeness of fruits. ... more Color alteration is one of the major indicators of the maturity and level of ripeness of fruits. A strong relationship also exists between the color and acidity of fruits. Three different spectral analyses have been conducted in the visible region of the measured spectrum to quantify the acidity or pH of B10 carambola. Spectral linearisation, gradient shift, and normalisation analyses within the wavelength range of 550 and 675 nm have been applied on the spectra of intact carambola samples. These two wavelength points are selected because of their best response and strong link to carotenoid and chlorophyll contents in carambola. The spectra are measured through reflectance and interactance measurement techniques. High coefficients of determination (R 2 >0.7) generated for all analyses indicate that a strong relationship exists between the presented color analyses and the acidity of the carambolas. Interactance has a better accuracy and precision in measuring the carambola acidity compared with the reflectance technique.

The two beams travel in different paths and recombine after some relative propagation phase delay. Among the most commercial interferometers in the optical industries are Michelson, Fabry-Perot and Mach-Zehnder. In this paper, the basic operating principles and application fields of each type of interferometer are reviewed. The optical designs were conducted by running a simulation on a commercial optical software package, ASAP.

The specialized optical fiber sensor developed and presented in this paper used a monochromatic wavelength, rather than a broad spectrum, to measure the intact carambola (star fruit) intrinsic quality, namely pH and firmness. The main objective of this research was to investigate the two optical fiber sensors used in this work, namely, the optical fiber red system (OF-RS) that operated with the peak sensitivity at 635 nm and the optical fiber near the infrared spectroscopy system (OF-NIRS) that operated with the peak sensitivity at 880 nm. Both systems showed good accuracy in the pH and firmness measurement of the intact carambola with the correlation coefficient R over 0.75, and the measurement results were comparable with those of the commercial spectrometer. The best measurement results were obtained using OF-RS

In NIR measurement on biological system, particularly for fruits and vegetables, water has the highest influence in determining the shape of the measured spectra. Similarly for aqueous related samples, the ability to understand NIR absorbance pattern of water will allow the measurement of the solutes in the samples. This paper applied two spectral analyses in quantifying water-sucrose solutions through a unique spectra interpretation named as NIR spectral absorbance linearisation and gradient shift. The objective is to exploit the changes in the pattern of NIR spectra due to different percentage of sucrose in water and applied it to quantify the sucrose concentration. NIR spectral absorbance linearisation and gradient shift has shown higher accuracy and precision of measurement if compared to single wavelength analysis within the water band.

In Malaysia, however, there is still no specific legislation mandating that school-to-work transition planning and services be provided to students with disabilities. This study investigated the state of the transition services provided by educational organisations to students with disabilities in Malaysia. A mixed method research design, which utilises both quantitative and qualitative research techniques, was employed to obtain information from 23 government organisations and NGOs involved in the education and training of students with disabilities. This study found that the organisations surveyed were aware of the lack of transition support and call attention to the importance of instituting a national policy on school-to-work transition services and supported employment systems for students with disabilities. The legislative and educational implications for Malaysia are discussed.
