The objective of this study was to evaluate the forage availability and performance of goats in t... more The objective of this study was to evaluate the forage availability and performance of goats in thinned Caatinga enriched with Urochloa trichopus subjected to grazing fallowing and levels of phosphorus fertilization. Twenty-four F1 crossbred goats (Boer x Non-descript breed), whole, 15.0 ± 2.6 kg body weight were distributed in four paddocks (n = 6) according to body weight, age and physiological status. Animals grazed on Caatinga, under continuous stocking, and were gathered and kept in individual pens overnight. The experiment to evaluate animal performance was a randomized block design with 4 treatments (0, 11, 33 and 60 days of fallowing) and six replications. To determine dry mass production and floristic composition, phosphate fertilization was used in the doses of x P2O5 in a randomized block design with five treatments, 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg P2O5 with 4 replications. Phosphate fertilization had an effect on the floristic composition of dicots and U. trichopus (P<0.05)....
This study aimed to evaluate the biometric measurements and characteristics of the carcass and re... more This study aimed to evaluate the biometric measurements and characteristics of the carcass and retail cuts of 24 Santa Inês whole lambs finished in native pasture with different supplements. The animals were divided into four experimental diets: 200 g/day of a protein-energy supplement plus sodium chloride; 200 g/day of the protein-energy-mineral supplement; 300 g/day of the protein-energy-mineral supplement and 300 g/day of the protein-energy-min supplement without manganese. A complete randomized experimental design with four treatments and six replications was used. The supplements did not influence the biometric measurements, body score, slaughter weight, loss by cooling, weight of the half carcass, hot carcass yield, cold carcass yield or the biological yield and weight of retail cuts from the Santa Inês lambs. Este trabalho teve como objetivo, determinar as concentracoes sericas proteicas e minerais de cor... more Este trabalho teve como objetivo, determinar as concentracoes sericas proteicas e minerais de cordeiros alimentados artificialmente com leite enriquecido com Spirulina platentensis. Trinta cordeiros foram distribuidos em delineamento em blocos ao acaso com parcelas subdivididas no tempo. Amostras sanguineas foram coletadas, a cada 15 dias, para determinacao de indicadores metabolicos. Nao houve interacao (P> 0,05) entre a concentracao de espirulina e o periodo de administracao para os valores medios de ureia. No entanto quanto as proteinas totais, observou-se interacao entre a concentracao de espirulina e o periodo experimental. A concentracao de proteinas totais diferiu (P 0,05) quanto as concentracoes de minerais entre os grupos que recebiam espirulina e o grupo controle. A suplementacao com Spirulina platensis na dieta de cordeiros alimentados com leite bovino eleva o status nutricional dos animais melhorando o desempenho dos animais estudados. W. em animais de laboratorio e, tambem, a digestibilidade em ovinos. As silagens foram constituidas de flor de seda (FS) pre-secas em 12, 24 e 36. Foram utilizadas amostras da planta in natura e ensilada. O extrato alcoolico obtido, foi administrado em camundongos via intraperitonial (i.p.) para determinacao da DL50 e observacao do quadro clinico dos animais. Para os teste de digestibilidade foram utilizados carneiros da raca Santa Ines adaptados as dietas. Analisou-se a materia seca, proteina, energia, fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) e fibra em detergente acido (FDA). Observou-se uniformidade nos sinais toxicologicos entre os camundongos e os ovinos. Therefore, we aimed to estimate dry matter intake (DMI) and neutral detergent fiber intake (NDFI) of hair sheep raised under tropical conditions. A meta-analysis of 61 independent performance experiments, comprising a total of 413 experimental units (treatment means or animals), was performed. Trials were conducted in tropical conditions, using hair sheep in growing and finishing phases and endowed with the following information: neutral detergent fiber (NDF) in diet, initial and final body weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG), DMI and NDFI of treatment means (51 studies) or individual data (10 studies). Data on organic matter and NDF digestibilities were collected to estimate D-value (Dv) and B-value (Bv) (20 and 33 studies, respectively). The experimental design used was completely randomized in a 5 x 4 factorial arrangement (byproducts and substitution levels). The inoculum for the in vitro incubations was obtained from three Holstein cows with rumen fistulas.
