Career construction theory conceptualizes one’s career as a process of responding to a changing environment through self-concepts to more actively construct their careers. The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic further highlights the importance of individuals’ self-leading their work journeys. The study indicates that work values ethic is an important variable in further explaining the relationship between locus of control and job satisfaction in our sample. When the effect of work values ethic is removed, the association between locus of control and job satisfaction is insignificant. We expect this research to spur further efforts by individuals to improve their understanding of the intricacies among their intrapersonal traits, needs, and abilities to better navigate their work careers with applica...

The purpose of this study is to examine the measurement of NPD project success in Vietnamese manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A total of 795 questionnaires were sent to manufacturing SMEs in Hanoi, with 340 usable responses received yielding a response rate of 42.77%. Using SPSS (v.24) software to analyze the data, the findings indicated that three dimensions: subjective customer acceptance, objective customer acceptance and technical success had a significant impact on the overall NPD project success measurement. Financial performance did not have a significant impact on the overall NPD project success measurement. The study findings enhance our understanding about the key dimensions of the overall NPD project success measurement in Vietnamese organizations. Vietnamese business managers may use the results to improve NPD project success in their organizations by formulating better policies supporting both financial and non-financial innovation success.

We address this deficiency by conducting an empirical study in the Indonesian telecommunication industry. Technology readiness was conceptualised as a conative construct because of its energising or striving content and was therefore considered a suitable outcome variable. We proposed that the attitudinal component, consumer perceived value, would mediate the relationship between personal values and technology readiness and this was fully supported. All personal values had a significant indirect impact on technology readiness and a significant positive effect on all consumer perceived value dimensions. Assumptions based on early value frameworks relating to new technology acceptance are challenged and managerial implications are discussed.

These models are apparently underpinned with the belief that quality supervisors are the key to successful (read: on time) completion (Wisker, 2005) and graduate employability (Sinclair, 2004). Thus today's PhD program has adopted only a limited lens of exposure to research philosophy, preferring a primary focus on graduating on time rather than developing a smorgasbord of career enhancing highways to life-long learning. This research undertook an examination of the contemporary PhD to explore the context and relevance of the doctoral program in terms of its bilities to graduate active high-level researchers with the skills, know-how and an appetite to confidently pursue ...

The complexity of the challenges these organisations are facing are accelerating faster than can be addressed with traditional, analytically based management approaches. The design community has much to say on how it can play a more significant role in this context. Consolidating an in-depth literature review with applied, hands-on and in-the-field experience, we propose new perspectives on how more human-centred design approaches assist development organisations. Particularly, how these organisations may achieve greater social accountability by moving beyond quantitative measures in defining and delivering initiatives to address real human needs. In addition we extend Buchanan's 2001 seminal body of work which introduced the role of human centred design as affirming human dignity through the empow...

Saudi Arabia saw the establishment of 12 new banks, which resulted in the non-oil private sector share of Saudi’s GDP reaching US$55.8 billion. This increased staff demand in the banking sector and justifies the significance of this study, which identifies the relationship between leadership and turnover. Utilizing an online survey, the data was collected from 376 employees in the banking industry. Using SPSS analysis identified significant relationships. Seventeen percent between leadership behavior and turnover. The analysis revealed that the respondents displayed transformational leadership behavior (X = 3.06) fairly often compared with transactional leadership behavior (X = 2.52). Further, the turnover intention among the respondents appeared to be high (X = 3.11). In addition, the findings identified that demographic characteristics influence some l...

A postal survey was distributed to 500 Victoria police employees and yielded a response rate of 19.5%. A Cronbach Alpha value of 0.802 for the questionnaire was achieved with the reliability values for ‘understanding of diversity’ and ‘support for diversified workforce’ constructs showing Cronbach Alpha values of 0.813 and 0.788 respectively. Statistical analysis identified gender and higher educational levels as having significant relationships to understanding about CALD and support for CALD recruitment. The paper proposes a conceptual model that would contribute to recruitment policy in a policing context and is discussed in terms of its contribution to the literature. Results provided demographic factors in the development of a CALD conceptual model. A mathematical relationship ...

This is foundational to a person’s ethical schema, impacting how an individual interacts with others within the workplace, fostering organizational and individual goals. While there is a growing body of knowledge about the underlying assumptions and history of SRW, less is known about how contextual factors, such as generational diversity, impact SRW. The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the differences in SRW among generational cohorts using the lens of cognitive spiritual development theory and multigenerational theory. The results indicate that there is a difference in spirituality and religion among generations in the workplace. Gen X and Baby boomers are similar in expressing higher spirituality and religiosity than Millennials, and religion is a less important factor among all generations. This research has impo...

Yet, the social enterprise literature has largely focussed on the bricolage perspective to explain social entrepreneurial action. The authors argue that when investigating legitimacy driven opportunity pursuit of an enterprise’s pre-emergence stage, all three perspectives of causation, effectuation and bricolage are required. The purpose of this paper was to address the research question how does effectuation determine entrepreneurial action in the pre-emergence of a social enterprise? Design/methodology/approach An in-depth single case study approach was used based on the data provided by the founding entrepreneur of Good-Faith Learning social enterprise in Australia. Findings The results demonstrated the complementary evolution of the three perspectives. In the following sequence, the effectuation, causation and bricolage actions were identified during the...
