While the most advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this document have been used, the quality is heavily dependent upon the quality of the original submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help you understand markings or patterns which may appear on this reproduction. 1. The sign or "target" for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is "Missing Page(s)". If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting thru an image and duplicating adjacent pages to insure you complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find a good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in "sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again-beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding of the dissertation. Silver prints of "photographs" may be ordered at additional charge by writing the Order Department, giving the catalog number, title, author and specific pages you wish reproduced. 5. PLEASE NOTE: Some pages may have indistinct print. Filmed as received.

Despite the importance of loanwords in historical and comparative linguistics however, the study of loanwords in African languages has received inadequate attention in the past, and there has been a lack of comprehensive case-studies into the sources and processes of borrowing within individual African languages, involving inter-African loanwords as well as loanwords from European languages and/or Arabic. The present thesis is designed to provide such a comprehensive case-study, based on Temne, the major language of northern Sierra Leone and the writer's mother-tongue. The first chapter is an introduction to Temne language and society. A majority of words borrowed into Temne from other African languages relate to the cultural institutions of the Temne and it has been necessary to provide cultural as well as linguistic data in examining the assimilation of these loanwords. ...

The following research questions guided this study: To what extent does leadership impact employee performance at the Sierra Leone airport authority. To what extent does self-efficacy impact employee performance. To what extent does training impact employee performance at the Sierra Leone airport authority.A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of interest consisted of 360 employees who are currently working at various departments. The departments found at the airport include the following administrative department, engineering, finance, audit, commercial/procurement and operations. A sample size of 186 was drawn from the targeted population using a random sampling technique. Moreover, a self- administered structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Furthermore, statistical methods such as descriptive statis...

What is the potential value of such relationships? What will be the nature and scope of the relationships? Can economic and trade relations be the answer to some of the challenges facing Eastern Europe?

This is particularly a statistical relationship. But for a statistical relationship to be cause and effect, a theoretical relationship is important. The theoretical relationship can be quantified to search for the evidence of causality. The possible outcomes can be no causality, unidirectional causality, or bidirectional causality. The present study aims at searching for evidence from BRICS countries regarding trade causing poverty or vice versa. Applied econometrics approach is used in the study. Panel econometric techniques have been employed to identify presence/absence of causality between the variables. Apart from this, the study also uses equality of means to identify whether trade and poverty proxies are symmetrical or asymmetrical. The study finds no causal relationship between trade and poverty for BRICS countries except that poverty headcount at $3.2 per day causes trade balance. With respect...

The IMF has claimed to add insights about the developing and under-developed countries development. All over the world, the growth trajectory of the developing nations has been affected by the policies and procedures of the IMF. India got independence in the year 1947 and became an IMF signatory in the year 1945. Since then, India has been involved in the economic management on the parameters of the IMF. The growth story of India is a mixed response yet a success story until now. The recent phase of opening up the economy that started in 1991 has had a great impact on the growth trajectory of Indian economy. The present study aims to study the growth pattern of India and the economic reforms pushed by the IMF. People wait for actions to be taken by the government or multilateral organizations but seldom do they capture the developments going on. Several initiatives have been taken by individual countries as well as countries forming groups or conglomerates to tackle the challenges of climate change. This is true for BRICS as well. BRICS countries share the idea of climate protection but are sceptical of the policies passed by developed countries. BRICS as a forum of developing countries challenging the status quo of climate change policies has emerged to formulate its own climate change policies and initiatives in the light of BRICS discussions. The present study is aimed to capture the BRICS climate change policies and initiatives with a descriptive approach.

India and United States have progressed by investing in each other resources and has a significant share in their respective total FDI Inflows. FDI Inflows as per the BPM6 of IMF falls in the Capital Account of Balance of Payments (BOP). The balance of Current Account is related to Capital Account as Capital Account shows the mode of financing. It is through the Capital Account that the deficit of Current Account is financed. FDI is a long term source of financing for the country. The present study aims to develop a causal relationship between Indo-US FDI and Current Account Balance with the help of Granger Causality (Sims, 1980). The Toda and Yamamoto (1995) approach to Causality is followed in the study. The time period for the study is from 2001 to 2014. The study contains seven sections.

Despite its policy measures, India has received far less share of FDI inflows in global FDI inflows. This needs to be improved so as to effectively implement the “Make in India” campaign of the present Government. Though last few years have shown an increase in FDI inflows, still a lot needs to be done for attracting more FDI Inflows. Apart from looking at the general trends, this paper specifically examines the trends in the telecom sector of India. We find that telecom sector has its own specific trends which do not relate to the general trend of FDI Inflows. The trend has been decreasing since 2009-10 but has revived in 2014-15. As telecom sector is a major driver of Indian industry, it is imperative for the government to provide continued policy impetus to this sector so as to attract substantial FDI flow...
