This suggests that intergenerational epigenetic effects, possibly triggered by environmental circumstances, may contribute to their etiology. We previously described altered DNA methylation signatures in the sperm of mice that experienced developmental overexposure to thyroid hormones as a result of a genetic defect in hormone clearance (DIO3 deficiency). Here we studied fetal brain gene expression and adult social behavior in genetically normal F2 generation descendants of overexposed mice. The brain of F2 generation E13.5 fetuses exhibited abnormal expression of genes associated with autism in humans, including Auts2, Disc1, Ldlr, Per2, Shank3, Oxtr, Igf1, Foxg1, Cd38, Grid2, Nrxn3, and Reln. These abnormal gene expression profiles differed depending on the sex of the...

We discovered that only the N3V3 pyrrolic defect is a reactive site (6π-component), forming a cycloadduct with benzene (4π-component) that has energy barriers below 154.38 kJ mol-1 (1.60 eV). The conduction and valence bands (HOMO and LUMO) for N3V3 form a degenerate pair of orbitals at the gamma point, with the same ionization potential (IP) and electron affinity (EA). Likewise, inspection of the orbital symmetries for both systems confirms that these must undergo concerted reactions based on the Woodward and Hoffmann principles of orbital symmetry, with the appropriate orbital occupancies. This is the first time that substitutionally doped graphene has been demonstrated to participate as a 6π-component for cycloaddition reactions with benzene.

The metal-mechanic sector is a pillar for other industrial activities. This work focuses on the thinking skills for designing dies as tooling that are used to punch metal parts with high or low production volumes. Design skills, due to a lack of investment and development, have been lagging in Mexico, compared to foreign markets, which export tooling to Mexico mainly from Asia, for 2,600 Million Dollars (MDD) per year. Consequently, the objective of this chapter is to demonstrate that the service is feasible from different points of view. Based on the scientific method, this research work is structured to reach next objectives: (1) To detect the need to locate the market that allows the creation of the company and (2) To deploy the product lifecycle method to determine the ...

Additionally, the modifications of process capacity indicators commonly used in the industrial sectors are shown with the inclusion of the measurement error, determining its significance through the ANOVA analysis. The results obtained show a better contrast with the direct measurements made in the evaluated processes, increasing the effectiveness of the process control.

Design/methodology/approach Two printing contour strategies were applied for producing thin-walled honeycomb lattice structures in which the laser power, contour path, scanning speed and beam offset were systematically modified. The specimens were analyzed by optical microscopy for dimensional accuracy. Vickers hardness and quasi-static uniaxial compression tests were performed on the specimens with the least difference between the design wall thickness and the as built one to evaluate their mechanical properties and compare them with the counterparts obtained by using standard print strategies. Findings The contour printing strategies and process parameters have a significant influence on reducing the fabr...

The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of $$35\text{ pb}^{-1}$$ accumulated with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ collider. The statistical accuracy of the measured cross section is 2 to 22 $$\%$$ , whereas the systematic uncertainty is 2.6 to 14 $$\%$$ . The present results agree with the results of earlier measurements but have a better precision.

Abstract The process $$e^{+}e^{-}\to\eta\pi^{0}\gamma$$ is studied in the range of center-of-mass... more Abstract The process $$e^{+}e^{-}\to\eta\pi^{0}\gamma$$ is studied in the range of center-of-mass (c.m.) collision energies between 1.05 and 2.00 GeV on the basis of data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 94.5 pb $${}^{-1}$$ that were accumulated in an experiment with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ collider. The cross section for this process was measured for the first time and was found to receive a dominant contribution from the mechanism of a transition through an $$\omega\eta$$ intermediate state. The cross section measured for the process $$e^{+}e^{-}\to\omega\eta\to\eta\pi^{0}\gamma$$ agrees with the results of earlier measurements in the channel $$e^{+}e^{-}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}\eta$$ . At a level of 5.7 standard deviations (5.7 $$\sigma$$ ), it is established that the process $$e^{+}e^{-}\to\eta\pi^{0}\gamma$$ is not fully described by hadronic intermediate states of the $$VP$$ type. The cross section was measured for this missing contribution, which may be generated by radiative processes—for example, $$e^{+}e^{-}\to a_{0}(1450)\gamma$$ . It ranges from 15 to 20 pb over a broad energy interval extending from 1.3 to 1.9 GeV.

A proposed methodology based on a solvation method was used to study conformational transformations of the different low-energy conformers of DHPT according to time-dependent IR spectroscopy. NMR and CD spectroscopy provides additional evidence of these transformations. The conformational transformations appear to be due to solvent and DHPT interactions. This highlights the importance of experimental conditions on conformer ratio equilibrium, in particular, the interpretation of experimental conditions used for determining the stereoisomers' absolute configuration.

Alterations in thyroid hormone (TH) status during developmental or adult age are associated with ... more Alterations in thyroid hormone (TH) status during developmental or adult age are associated with abnormal gonadal development and function in human and animal models. In the developing testis, aberrant levels of TH action lead to disruptions in cell proliferation and differentiation, ultimately influencing testicular size, spermatogenesis, steroidogenesis and male fertility. Recent work is increasingly identifying the systems and signaling pathways in gonadal cells that are affected by TH, as well as delineating the major factors that determine TH signaling in gonadal tissue. The TH receptor alpha, the monocarboxylate transporter 8 and the type 3 deiodinase appear to be major contributors to the timely regulation of TH action in the developing testis.

Cellular TH bioavailability is regulated by the deiodinase enzymes, which can activate or inactivate TH. We have previously shown that the TH inactivating enzyme type 3 deiodinase (D3) is present in neutrophils. Furthermore, D3KO mice show impaired bacterial killing upon infection. We hypothesized that D3 plays a role in neutrophil function during infection by actively regulating local TH availability. We measured TH concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from patients with bacterial meningitis and controls. Bacterial meningitis resulted in marked changes in CSF TH levels, characterized by a strong increase of thyroxine and reverse-triiodothyronine concentrations. This altered TH profile was consistent with elevated D3 activity in infiltrating neutrophils at the site of infection. D3 knockdown in zebrafish embryos with pneumococcal meningi...

Our results confirm predictions based on Wade's rules. The closed electron shells, characteristic of cationic clusters help impose enhanced stability, while also complying with Wade's rules. Charge distribution analysis, as well as electrostatic potential maps show that in almost all cases, Bi atoms donate charges to Cu atoms. According to the analysis of condensed Fukui indices, Cu atoms inside both clusters are not reactive. Contrastingly, Bi atoms are reactive and may be targeted by different types of attack. This study of the electronic properties may thus help to determine experimental strategies with the capacity to enhance the synthesis of catalysts.

The aim of the study was to assess perceived quality of life (QOL) of these children and their families as well as the problems they face in their daily life.We performed a multicentric cross-sectional study using a semi-structured interview about the impact of HMV on families and an evaluation questionnaire about perceived QOL by the patient and their families (pediatric quality of life questionnaire (PedsQL4.0)). We studied 41 subjects (mean age 8.2 years). Global scores in PedsQL questionnaire for subjects (median 61.4), and their parents (median 52.2) were below those of healthy children. 24.4% received medical follow-up at home and 71.8% attended school. Mothers were the main caregivers (75.6%), 48.8% of which were fully dedicated to the care of their child. 71.1% consider economic and healthcare resources insufficient. All families were satisfied with the care they provide to their children, even ...
