This excessive digital consumption gives an unreal sense of spatial experience to today's generation. Therefore, this research aims to explore the pattern of spatial perception and existential senses of being in a place from the interior architecture students' perspective. The study employed a qualitative method of 'non-verbal interview' which was retrieved from the students' spatial experience portfolios. This study highlights the importance of seeing and experiencing a place in-situ to truly understand the architecture.

The objective is to investigate students' feedback on their experience of utilizing social media as a platform to submit and present an assignment. The method employed is a questionnaire survey on students' experience of utilizing such method in their study. Many respondents also provided additional comments regarding this unconventional approach. The findings of this study show that most respondents favor the use of social networking apps in their learning activities, especially for courses related to design and creativity.

Research objectives were to evaluate compliance of public facilities provided in case study buildings to Malaysia Standards for accessibility and Universal Design principles, and to identify PWD level of satisfaction for public facilities and their perception on the overall accessibility of case study buildings. This research incorporated mixed methodology of two categories of access audit; site observation and interview with PWD participants. Site observation measured compliance of public facilities with standards design guidelines, while interview assessed the buildings’ accessibility through close-ended questionnaires and open-ended interviews with four participants (visually impaired person, hearing impaired person, wheelchair-bound person, and crutches user). Five public buildings of different functions were chosen as the case studies; Department of Immigration building, Natural History Museum, Perdana Leadership Foundation building, Putrajaya International Convention Centre, and Tuanku Mizan Mosque. Findings showed that in terms of accessibility compliance, there are some areas for improvement especially in the provision of accessibility for sensory impaired users. In terms of participants’ feedbacks, their satisfaction and perception on the accessibility of case study buildings vary based on their type of impairment. However, there are two main issues that were similarly emphasized by them; emergency means of escape and staff assistance. The research concluded that a universal approach in creating barrier-free environment and conducting access audit is efficient in solving multifaceted accessibility issues in the built environment

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with visually-impaired person, hearing-impaired person, wheelchair user and crutches user to find out their concerns on the accessibility of public buildings they assessed prior to the interview session. Findings show that other than the physical facilities, another important aspect of accessibility in a public building is staff assistance or hospitality towards visitors with disability. Public buildings should be able to cater the needs of all visitors, through physical and hospitality aspects of the building.

With the Malaysian government promotion of a caring society, buildings of tourist attraction should be accessible to the person with disabilities (PWD). Both exterior and interior spaces of these buildings should be able to cater the need of PWDs. Site observation, facilities simulation done by PWDs, and interviews were conducted to assess the buildings' accessibility. From the findings, buildings that have been built earlier are less accessible than the newer buildings.

However, research indicates that physical barriers in the built environment impede disabled people, resulting in marginalisation when their inclusion is tied to physical space. Commonly, accessibility of the built environment is evaluated using an access audit with a predetermined checklist. Little effort has been made to explore disabled people's life experiences accessing the city centre. This qualitative study involves twenty go-along interviews with mobility-challenged travellers to learn about their experiences using land transportation from around Klang Valley to Kuala Lumpur city centre. Mobility-challenged travellers, notably wheelchair users, still need help to reach their destination with the current transportation services. In general, transportation use in Klang Valley has several issues, including the lack of accessi...

With these third places revival, there is still a lack of study on what has changed for the design of third places in response to the recent Covid-19 crisis. Therefore, this study aims to examine the design of two social and creative hubs in Kuala Lumpur based on the adaptation of Ray Oldenburg’s theory of third places. The research objective is to ascertain the third places’ characteristics of the case studies through on-site observation. The creation of temporary spaces for film and the practice of interior design for permanent space... more The creation of temporary spaces for film and the practice of interior design for permanent spaces are in many ways intersect as both have the power to reformulate the space and make it habitable for its user. The interaction has shaped many interior design schools to take the film as a multidisciplinary subject as it could conveniently contribute to theoretical studies and creative thinking skills. The circumstance led this paper to find its rationale. Can films be used as design references for interior design education? Are scenography design for film and interior design projects use a similar design process to execute its narrative? This study explores the similarities of the design development process between the two disciplines. Using literature research, analysis studies, and case studies of the film, The Ghost in the Shell, this paper explores the similarities of design development focusing on theory and realism.
