People's daily lives are influenced by social media. This paper aims to demonstrate how Karl Marx's concept of alienation manifests when people become addicted to social media. To address this issue, we will first highlight the positive and negative aspects of social media in modern man's life, but excessive use of social media and addiction to it leads to alienation. Karl Marx's concept of alienation begins when he observes the problem of oppression in the economic and political realms, which he attributes to the bourgeoisie, which degrades the proletariat's dignity. The bourgeoisie is corrupting people's minds and gaining more without exerting effort. On the other hand, the proletariats work hard but are paid less and receive a smaller number of products. Furthermore, man invented technologies and machines that resulted in the creation of social media, which in the long run subordinates man and can be used to oppress man in the larger community. As a result of the advancement of technologies and machines, as well as the existence of a social media platform, man experiences alienation. In this paper, I argue that addiction to social media diminishes the meaning of one's well-being by destroying man's capacity to cultivate himself, to become authentic and genuine. The issue was that social media was created by man to increase his productivity, but it has surpassed them because his relationship with himself and his community has deteriorated. Second, man's products in social media, such as posts, are not beneficial to them. The more people who use this media, the richer the creator of this app becomes. This app is an instrument for the bourgeoise to gain profit without effort, but because of man's irrational passion, it allows the bourgeoise to oppress them with man's unconscious capacity, because they are addicted to social media. As a result, not becoming a radical causes man to deal with this advancement of technologies immediately. This advancement may damage the community's relationship and their well-being or essence. Key words: social media, Alienation, technologies and machines, Bourgeoise and proletariats, well-being, and Karl Marx. ā
