Ignoring the middle ages in which the actual seeds of the enlightenment were sown. The common belief towards the Islamic scientists is negative and it is believed that the origin and the transmission of knowledge is limited to the Greeks and the West. However, it is also consensually accepted that Muslim intellectuals, scholars and scientists from the 8 th, 9 th and 13 th century made a remarkable progresses in the numerous scientific fields including psychology. More than thousand years ago Muslim thinkers and physicians made a seminal contribution to psychology psychotherapy and psychiatry. The restructuring of psychology and other sciences in the Islamic framework entails the identification of the works of Muslim scholars, thinkers and physicians of earlier times which deal with the themes of psychology and psychotherapy. The modern Muslim psychologists have reexamined the medieval Islamic thoughts and concepts with reference to psychology and highlighted the original and pioneering contribution of Muslim scholars, thinkers and physicians in the Golden Age of Islamic sciences from 8 th to the 16 th century to the advancement of psychology and psychotherapy and has shown that they were the forerunners of some of the central ideas and therapeutic techniques in psychology and psychotherapy. The paper shall also focus on the analysis of original Arabic texts and the resent studies of psychologists. We shall put light on the criticism of western scholars on Islam and Muslims, as the Islamic scientists and scholars made an important advancements in field long before psychology's actual birth.

In western discourse, Islam has often been portrayed as a demonic religion of apostasy, blasphemy and obscurity. A set of the ideological, political and cultural factors, including the legacy of the crusades, confrontations with the Ottoman Empire, the ideology of white supremacy and European colonialism, have been responsible for this perception. The greatest stimulus to the academic interest in Islam in Europe, which began around the middle of the 18th century and gathered momentum in the second half of the 19th and early decades of the 20th century, came from orientalsim which was embedded in the historical, political and ideological context of European colonial expansion. During the colonial Era, the European powers sought to dominate and control a vast swathe of the Muslim world not only through conquest and violence and the colonial policy of the divide and rule and espionage but also through missionaries, the new education system and scholars and academics.

In Javednama Iqbal generously praises Marx, giving him the highest status that a person could aspire to, short of prophethood. “He is not a prophet but he holds a book under his arm,” says Iqbal about the author of Das Capital, which Iqbal calls the “bible of Socialism. Iqbal’s tribute is well deserved. Marx’s great life is permeated by boundless revolutionary optimism. He saw happiness as consisting in action and in struggle—a theme that resonates powerfully, as well, throughout Iqbal’s poetry. He staked everything on the progressive change that history fosters. He believed that change to alleviate the misery of the toiling masses is worth fighting and dying for. Selfless, unflagging struggle to emancipate society and the toilers of the world—that is the sum and substance of Karl Marx, the greatest revolutionary philosopher of the world.
