Colette J Standish
Colette Standish is a mixed media artist who graduated from St. Martin's School of Art in London in 1991 as part of the wave of YBA -Young British Artists. Her achievements include Jessop's Photography Prize 2000 London and fellowship awards in New Mexico, Italy, and Spain. In 2019, she was awarded a San Francisco Art Institute fellowship to study an MFA in Studio Art. Her work is in many public and private collections, including the Museum of Fine Art in Santa Fe and the Anais Nin Foundation Art Collection. Colette is a frequent contributor to A Cafe in Space, a Literary Journal based on the writings of Anais Nin and can be seen in Volumes 8, 9, 13, 14, and 15. Colette's poem, 'A Letter,' published in Volume 8 of A Cafe in Space, inspired Avant-garde collective EPI, based in Manchester and Florence, to create a video performance based on the poem. 'I Was in Love... Still Am' was exhibited as a video in 2018 as part of the exhibition Anais Through the Looking Glass and Other Stories at the Center for Sex and Culture, San Francisco.
In 2020, Colette exhibited alongside faculty, staff, students, and alums from the San Francisco Art Institute in the Tunnels of the Mind exhibition in New York City with ZAZ10TS Digital Gallery. Colette's video, Phoenix Rising, was shown in the Artistic Messages to Inspire segment of the exhibition and featured on a billboard in Times Square. Colette's dream sequence, 'The Knight of Mirrors,' can be seen in the forthcoming feature film Sammy & Quinn, directed by Christopher Coppola and based on the book Don Quixote by Cervantes. Colette has collaborated with students from the University of Redlands on a chance ensemble inspired by John Cage. Colette's film, Viaggio: A Journey, a short experimental film - of which she directed, performed, wrote, filmed, and composed the music – has won many awards, including the New York Neorealism Film Festival, the Paris Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival. Colette is a PhD in Art and Philosophy candidate from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts.
