"Horse Study"
My demonstration this morning on the last day of my latest painting workshop at the Hindes Fine Art Gallery in San Antonio. This demo was all about painting accurately. Oil on Linen • 14” x 18” • 2 Hours • SOLD
"Red Rose Study"
My 90-minute floral demonstration from life this morning on day two of my latest painting workshop at Hindes FineArt in San Antonio. Today’s demo focus on keeping reds saturated. Hint: don’t go straight to white to lighten a red. Orange is often a better alternative. Oil on Linen • 9” x 12” • 90 Minutes • SOLD
"Sunroom Study"
My 90-minute demonstration painting from a photograph this morning on day one of my latest painting workshop at Hindes FineArt. Today’s demo was an exercise in simplifying by capturing the light rather than all of the elements in this interior. Oil on Linen • 12” x 16” • 90 Minutes • SOLD
"Sugarbean"
My final demonstration for my latest workshop at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. This lesson was all about painting with accuracy. While it's always important, it becomes even more critical when painting a portrait or an animal. Oil on Linen • 12” x 16” • 2 Hours
"Lavender Rose Study"
My 90-minute floral demonstration Thursday morning on day two of my latest painting workshop at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. This demo was all about painting from life and maintaining a sense of spontaneity and movement. Oil on Linen • 10” x 12” • 90 Minutes • SOLD
"Smith Cove Study"
My 90-minute demonstration painting from a photograph Wednesday morning on day one of my latest painting workshop at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth. Once again, this demo was a lesson in simplification. This is a study of a sunrise on Smith Cove in Gloucester, Massachusetts, the view from the North Shore Arts Association, where I taught a painting workshop a few years ago. Oil on Linen • 12” x 16” • 90 Minutes
“White Horse Study”
My demonstration this morning on the last day of my painting workshop at Warehouse 521. Today’s demo was once again about accuracy. Without getting the drawing correct, this would not look like a horse. We also had a lot of discussions about white almost never being straight white. Oil on Linen • 14” x 18” • 2 Hours
“Pink Roses Study"
My demonstration this morning on day two of my painting workshop at Warehouse 521. Today’s demo was painted from live flowers to explore the difference in capturing an accurate drawing versus working from photography. Oil on Linen • 9" x 12" • 90 Minutes • SOLD
“Aldama Street Study, San Miguel de Allende"
My 90-minute demonstration this morning on day one of my painting workshop at Warehouse 521 in Nashville. I didn’t get too far, but this demo was once again about simplification. By breaking the image into two, with one large dark area and one large light area, it became much easier to handle. Oil on Linen • 12" x 16” • SOLD
"Horse Study"
My demonstration Tuesday morning on the last day of my painting workshop at Warehouse 5744. This demo was all about accuracy, but still capturing a sense of movement and spontaneity. Loose is never sloppy. Oil on Linen • 14” x 18” • 2 Hours
"Coneflowers Study"
My demonstration from life this morning on day two of my painting workshop at Warehouse 5744 in Montevallo, Alabama. Today’s lesson was about painting flowers from life, and finding balance with each one struggling for dominance. Oil on Linen • 9" x 12" • 2 Hours • SOLD
"San Miguel De Allende, Courtyard Study"
My 90-minute demonstration this morning on day one of my painting workshop at Warehouse 5744 in Montevallo, Alabama. This outdoor scene was a particularly complicated lesson in simplification. The amount of lights, darks, and colors might seem almost impossible to paint, but anything is possible with simplification. Oil on Linen • 12" x 16" • 1.5 Hours
"Rescue Dachsund Study"
My dog portrait demonstration this morning on the last day of my painting workshop at Workshop SLC. Today’s lesson was all about accuracy in portraiture. Oil on Linen • 12” x 12” • 1 Hour, 45 Minutes
"Sunflowers Study"
My 90 minute demonstration from life this morning on day two of my painting workshop at Workshop SLC. Today’s demo was about painting from direct observation, and how little is needed to suggest a lot of information. Oil on Linen • 9” x 12” • 90 Minutes
“Corner House, Monterey Square, Savannah Study"
My demonstration this morning on day one of my painting workshop at Workshop SLC. Today’s demo was about how to balance simplified areas with complicated ones in order to drive composition. Oil on Linen • 12” x 16” • 90 Minutes • SOLD
