We are currently working on digraphs and blends so I wrote that with sharpie. You can do the same with word families, cvc words as well.

Ms. Daisy Martinez M.A.Ed on Instagram: "Do I have to teach all 26 letters/sounds before introducing CVC words? I introduce blending after teaching a couple sounds. As they learn more sounds were able to blend more words. Teaching the sound alone is a lesson on its own after that lesson I slowly begin showing the students what they can do with those sounds. This gets them excited to continue learning all their sounds because now they know that eventually they’ll be able to read! What my ELA block looks like: 1. Heggerty phonemic awareness 2. Letters/sounds review (what they already know) 3. Introducing (teaching) new sound (penmanship of the letter we’re learning) 4. Blending words with the sounds we’ve been taught. 5. Dictation #phonics #reading #literacy #phonicsfun #scienceofreading Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Blending Words, Teaching Letter Sounds, Phonemic Awareness Activities, Blending Sounds, All Things, Childs Play, Teaching Letters, Phonics Reading

And might say random words instead- car, cake, house? 😬 Never fear! Successive blending is here! This has been a game changer in my classroom! Some readers need more support with short term memory. These readers can read /c/a/t but when blending the phonemes together they may say “car” or “catch” or another similar word. If this happens take a step back and do this: 1. Read each sound adding on one letter at a time 2. Scoop the first and second sound together, then add the final sound 3.
