Transforming the rustic bones of this Austin, Texas project into a calming, California-inspired space was a feat that required an extensive rework of materials and textures. While much of the original layout was maintained, Ekeland's team sought to replace the existing dark wood and heavy beams with lighter walls, natural fibers and warm metals. What I used:

	•	1/2” white oak plywood (16” deep)
	•	1/2” plywood strips (1 1/2” wide) or 1x2s
	•	2x2s for added support
	•	1x3 oak boards
	•	Angle brackets for reinforcement
	•	Wood glue, brad nails, and screws

Step-by-step:

-1- Stain all wood after cutting to rough dimensions.
-2- Install 1/2” plywood strips (or 1x2s) along the back and sides of the shelf location, securing with a nail gun.
-3- Support trick: Use angle brackets on top of the plywood strips, securing them to Beadboard Installation, Landry Room, Office Redo, Custom Floating Shelves, Diy Cabinet, Oak Floating Shelves, Design Hacks, Oak Plywood, Build Floating Shelves
