However, there are human resources challenges for multinational businesses when hiring in Nigeria. A common challenge is the skill capacity of Nigerians. There are times when multinationals have difficulty finding the types of skilled workers that are needed. Another challenge is related to trust. There are quite a few well-intentioned workers in Nigeria, but there are also those would be criminals that would seek to take advantage of multinational businesses in Nigeria by submitting fake documents for gaining employment or planning criminal activities targeted at multinationals. Therefore, it is imperative that businesses operating in Nigeria have background checks conducted with certificate verifications to distinguish between the two groups and hire the right individuals. Addressing these challenges can lead to increased operational costs for businesses in Nigeria.

Recent researches have indicated that noise pollution has resulted in hearing losses for some 7.2 million Nigerians, representing 17.9 percent of the population, in addition to other health implications. Several legitimate human activities generate and transmit noise. Noise from Mosques and Churches frequently wake up a resident from his sleep as early as 5:00 a.m. in the morning. On leaving his house for his place of work, he enters into the Cloud of noise generated from cars and blaring of horns. On getting to his place of work, he may discover that there is power failure necessitating the switching on of a generating plant with its attendant noise discomfort. If he is employed in a factory, the noise emanating from plants and machinery continues the noise saga. The respite that should accompany closing from work is usually short-lived as he enters his car and is again enveloped in the noise cloud. On getting home, there is still no respite because of the noise and vibrations from neighbour generating plants, grinding machine or noise coming from a record seller nearby. In addition, he may be unfortunate to live close to a church organizing a night vigil all through the night with the attendant singing, and drumming. Usually the vigil ends at between 4.00am and 5.00am. The chain of noise however continues with noise from mosques calling the Muslim faithful to partake in the early morning prayers. The following morning he gets up from his bed tired and the vicious noise circle continues. The above scenario depicts the plight of an average citizen because of noise pollution.

In their evaluations of capitalism they arrive at two distinct conclusion caused by similar and distinctly different factors. Though Marx and Weber apply the concept of specialization in very different ways, the implementation and consequences specialization have much in common. What is important about these two sociologists is that they both studied the same and one capitalism but their approach is miles apart from each other and has reached on very different conclusions Karl Marx and Max Weber are recognized as two of the most prominent theorists of the 19th century. Many might argue that there are many similarities between these sociologist’s theories, however although Marx and Weber both examined similar ideas, they noticeably came to two drastically different conclusions. During this essay, I am going to compare and contrast the ideas of these two influential sociologists to see whether there are any similarities in their understanding of society. I will attempt to gather enough evidence in order to draw conclusions on whether Marx and Weber are indeed as different as is so often claimed or whether their similarities are significant enough to class them as having comparable understandings in their key ideas.

Two theorists, Herbert Spencer and Robert Merton, were major contributors to this perspective. Important concepts in functionalism include social structure, social functions, manifest functions, and latent functions. The term structure has been applied to human societies since the 19th century. Before that time, its use was more common in other fields such as construction or biology. Karl Marx used construction as a metaphor when he spoke of “the economic structure of society, the real basis on which is erected a legal and political superstructure and to which definite forms of social consciousness correspond.” Thus, according to Marx, the basic structure of society is economic, or material, and this structure influences the rest of social life, which is defined as nonmaterial, spiritual, or ideological.

This study found that while this problem is partly attributed to the character of successive Nigerian Governments that do not take workers seriously until they embark on industrial action; it is also noteworthy to realize that the problem is partly because of the large number of trade unions in the public sector. There is also some level of rivalry between trade unions especially those operating within the same industry or sector. This situation provides a fertile ground for inter-union crises

Taylor was responsible for creating the concept of scientific management, which sought to improve the lives, and working patterns of labourers. Scientific management would go on to create a new era of industrial revolution, as management would be changed forever (Taylor, 1911). During the time of the industrial revolution, Taylors writings where misinterpreted, some employers used his time and motion studies to exploit more work at less pay (Copley, 1923). Taylors desire to improve workers lifestyles led him to understand Soldering and task management which helped to understand workers mentality.
