The Good Life

When first thinking about the life of a priest, people probably think it is lonely and boring. That it is only full of prayer, mass, and more praying. That is actually far from the truth. The life of a priest is filled with a whole community of people, and it is also filled with a lot of excitement. The life of a priest and good people in general is a good life. The biggest part of a good life is being kind to others. To lead a good life, kindness towards others is imperative. The Golden Rule is to treat others as you wish to be treated. Father Matt exemplified this behavior. He would go around the campus and talk to the students and others and just be kind to them. He cared about them and just wanted to show them kindness. Generally, people who are kind to others receive kindness back. This causes people to continue to be kind and live a good life. Another part of the good life is prayer. When thinking of priests, prayer probably comes to mind. Prayer is a really big part of a priests life, and it is also a big part of a good life. One quote from Saint Padre Pio says, "Prayer is the oxygen of the soul." This is true. You need oxygen to breathe and live. You need prayer for your soul to grow and to grow closer to God. Prayer is the time to have a conversation with God. Talking with God is important to build your relationship with him. Conversation is an important part of a relationship. Generally, people who don't talk, don't have a good relationship. To lead a good life, prayer is necessary. Service is another huge part of a good life. Mother Teresa was an extremely generous person. One of her quotes says, "Never be so busy as not to think of others." She always put others first. To lead of good life, you should not only be kind to others, but help them in their time of need. Generally, helping others will make you feel good. When you feel good about something, you will continue to do that something. You will continue to help others because it makes you feel good. Helping others leads to a good life. There are many different ways to lead a good life. Three of those ways are kindness, prayer, and service to others. All three of them benefit those around you and yourself while also strengthening your relationship with God. Priests are kind, pray, and do service in the community all the time. Father Matt and many other priests show this. Priests lead a holy and good life. Anyone can lead a good life like a priest if they are kind, pray, and help others.
