Connor Sweeney | Furniture Flipper on Instagram: "Feeling a bit nostalgic with this chest since the first piece of furniture I ever flipped was also a storage chest 🥹 By an absolute stroke of luck I grabbed this Lane Cedar Chest (with original tags) on @facebookmarketplace for only $25 🍀 My inital plan was to sand the entire piece down and lighten the wood, but with my expertise I sanded right through the veneer 🤡 After some deliberatation I decided paint was the only option. chest was in really really rough shape. The inside wasn't
too bad but the walnut veneer on the outside was clearly
neglected for years. I started first by making a few veneer
repairs using wood clue and clamps and then I removed the
legs. Here's a little trick. If you don't have clamps long
enough, you can actually clamp 2 together. The little metal
caps for the feet were extremely tarnished. They're
not solid brass. There was no way to buff this back to a
brass finish so the best I could do was just sand it down
to be painted later. While the veneer repairs were
