Howard Loosemore on Instagram: "Purple-Crowned Fairywren Malurus coronatus Etymology: Malurus coronatus [mal-OO-rus ko-ro-NAH-tus] "crowned delicate tail". The species name is derived from the Latin word cǒrōna meaning "crown", owing to the distinctive purple circle of crown feathers sported by breeding males as seen here in full breeding plumage. The genus Malurus means 'delicate tail', from the Greek malls, meaning 'soft or delicate', and aura, 'tail'. .. #..#nature #australia #naturephotogra
