Build this DIY Privacy Screen Instead... | By Andrew Thron Improvements | I cannot stand the look of lattice. So, let's get rid of this. So, here's a quick look at what we're actually building. I like to use one by six and one by four pressure-treated lumber for these screens. But first, we're just going to attach the top and bottom slat making sure that they're flush with the top and bottom of those vertical braces and then, I'm going to cut that with the miter saw and then cut that in two so I have a spacer for both sides of the privacy screen. Once the top and bottom slots are secured, take that 1. 25 inch spacer that we created and then, just push the next board into place and do this over and over again making sure that your slats are flush with the outside of that vertical brace. Now, I'm just using one and a half inch exterior rated screws to secure the slots to the braces and after creating that first panel I just wanted to test the fit and after it look good I cut the other one by sixes and one by fours and started building the other side and some of this one by 61 by four lumber can actually be quite warped so make sure that you arrange it in a way where you don't have one board warping in and one board warping out and then I'm going to secure that in place using a few screws and just for aesthetics I'm going to attach a one by four to the ends as well and lastly I just carry the privacy screen into place and secured it to my existing deck using a couple three inch screws and Here's how it looks now. I think it looks a whole lot better than lattice but let me know what you think down in the comments.

45K views · 6.9K reactions | - DIY Corner Pergola - I’ve had so many questions about how make our pergola/ where we bought it etc… here’s how! Materials used (for a 3mx3m corner pergola) - x3 150x150mm 2.4m Treated Posts - x3 Post Anchors - Concreted in - x7 47x150mm Treated C24 Timber - 6m lengths - x40 25x50mm Treated Roof Batten - 3.6m lengths - 8x100mm Coach Screws - 5x100mm Outdoor Screws - 4.2x65mm Decking Screws Tools Used: - 6ft Level - Tape Measure - Square - Handsaw, Circular Saw & Mitre Saw - Battery Drill/Screwdriver - Multitool or Chisels - String Line - Post Shovel Steps: 1. Sketch you area on lined paper, this will enable you to scale the timbers dimensions and make sure you have enough materials for your area. Then mark out the area and dig the post holes. 2. Concrete in the post anchors, or build a pad to drill them into. You can just postcrete in longer posts but they’ll need protecting from rot! 3. Level and brace for the posts and fix them into the anchors. Cut them down to size if needed. 4. Notch a small 45degree angle into the front posts to support the long side roof timber and provide a flat face to screw into. 5. Screw the back sides of the roof into the posts. 6. Mark the centre of the roof and rest your first roof timber in position. Mark the angles from underneath. 7. Notch out the roof timbers and cut out them out with a saw and multitool. Cut a angle on the nose if desired. 8. Slide the roof timber into place and repeat! 9. Batten the back starting from the top down. Use a piece of batten on its side as a spacer. Brace the batten in the middle to keep a uniform gap and avoid it warping too much. 10. We also added a timber shelf at the bottom of the batten using roof timber to hold plants and wine 🍷 All in this came to around £500 in materials and took a couple of days to build. We’re really happy with the result as it provides a cosy outdoor living area and the battened sides provide a great privacy screen from neighbouring houses. #diypergolaproject #pergola #cornerpergola #gardendiy #diygardenprojects #pergoladesign | Emily | Project Ivel 🏡 | sasabylopez · Jamelia Superstar
