Some people say that life won’t give you more than you can handle...but those people are liars.
My life has never been easy. I’ve had my fair share of pain—every moment is a fight to survive. With my brother on his deathbed, it’s up to me to provide and protect what’s left of my broken family. I do things I never thought I’d be capable of, becoming a person so hardened to the world that when I look in the mirror, all I see is a stranger.
When a twist of fate lands me at rock bottom, I make the ultimate decision and give away the only thing I have left—my freedom.
I belong to them now… The Beast. The Brains. The Bastard.
The Dixen’s have their secrets but they aren’t the only ones hiding something. When the truth finally emerges, our worlds will collide in a potent mixture of sex, drugs, and bloodshed. Either we will fall under the weight of our deception or it will make us untouchable—bound irrevocably to each other.
Sometimes you have to trust the gangsters. Sometimes it takes a gun to stay alive.
And sometimes, it takes both.
***Gangsters and Guns is a dark, contemporary, standalone novel. There are explicit scenes and dark themes such as drug abuse that might be triggering for some. If such material triggers or offends you, please do not read this book***
I have been waiting for this delicious book and I liked it! It had drama, betrayal and some steamy scene!!!
Rory has had a rough life when her parents died now shes acting like the adult making sure her drugged up brother is taken care of and there not homeless or dead. Shes a hustler I love that about Rory but she does have a soft side.. She has to make some quick cash and gets a job to steal some jewels. And it turns out horrible and ends up with her in jail. Now shes stuck between a rock and a hardplace. She's working for the Dixen Brothers now Allister, Maddox, Rogan 🔥🔥🔥💦💦🔥 These men lorddddd these men!!!! They are all different and are yummy..idk who's my fave maybe Rogan lol okay I enjoyed Rogan. You'll love them and hate them few times lol they make Rory do lots of things from wearing barley there clothes, warning of punishments if shes late and other things that drive her body crazy 🤣🤣 but she also drives them crazy breaking those walls from each brother. And boy those moments were delicious.
The more she spends with these men the more her heart is filled with guilt on betraying them. And when things hit the fan lorddd they hit. Now its time for rory to choose be a pawn or a Queen. We also get a crossover from a Viper ;)
I did have some questions.. how come Rory never found out that Allister set up the whole thing? That got her caught? At that jewelery store? Or the fact she had a wire and Rogan never found it when he wired her whole apartment with cameras??
Medium Angst, ow, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins (we saw one scene with a ow giving a bj to Maddox that's it)

Here's the thing: I'm not trying to discourage anyone from reading, just sharing my particular opinions, and I know that some of what I'm going to say is only going to cause MORE people to read, so I don't feel bad about being honest.
I'm going to start off with the characters before I dig into whatever else.
Rory, our FMC, is OK. She's likable enough, and I think that readers will appreciate the resilience that Savage and Knight tried to put into her character, that push to survive against the odds desperately trying to push her down. She's trapped by her circumstance, and with that, it makes her a bit predictable because there are just certain moves she has to make given what's going on and what other resources she does or doesn't have. Sometimes she's a bit TOO perfect for the men, but I think that can be a common enough occurrence in RH. So even though it pokes at my brain a bit, it's not some grievous sin that no other RH authors are committing.
Rogan, Allistair, and Maddox are the big three tropes: the nerd, the suave ladies man, and the muscled enforcer. Each of them have the hallmarks of their tropes: a thirst for perfectionism/success in Rogan, the smooth talk from Allistair, and strength and desire to talk with his body, not his words, from Maddox. Beneath that, they all share a core of control, a tightly coiled violence, and an unflinching response to pain and blood. They're the kind of guys that fans of this genre and fans of Den of Vipers will eat right up.
Now, the plot.
For me, there's not enough plot. Now, the s3x scenes are steamy, and there's enough kinky edge to them that readers will be salivating. BUT... in the last 20% (ish) of the book alone, there are four s3x scenes (some one on one, some in group), and it just started to feel like I was being distracted from the story. Each time I wanted to know/see what was happening next with the conflict, my focus would be derailed. I felt this way about Den of Vipers too, to be fair, but I actually think that DOV has more plot when you compare the two.
The story wraps up a little too neatly for me, and I wonder if some of that is because a lot of the other page time was dedicated to digging into the wet & steamy. I want to know more about what the Dixen brothers do, see more of their business and get a glimpse of Rory as more of a part of their world. Give me more of the gangster life and the guns.
There's also this big issue with Rory and her brother (and I was SO sad that we couldn't keep that adorable, sweet dynamic that we saw between them in the beginning). Her brother has lost himself to drug and disease-induced fits of dementia, anger, and violence, but of course, she gets one more strong, solid moment at the end where he has the perfect focus to apologize for himself and give her closure. Now, it's not that I didn't like that moment or that it wasn't a nice little emotional piece to have for Rory and Mitch. It just felt a bit too contrived, like it was done because this just had to be wrapped up, and it had to be wrapped up in a way that could wring a little emotion out of the reader and put Rory in a good place. Given how sporadic her brother's moments of lucidity had been throughout the rest of the book, it would have felt more natural for her to NOT have that moment with her brother, but she'd be able to move forward and heal some of those broken pieces of her heart with her connections to the Dixens.
Overall, I think there's a lot that the RH world is going to love about Gangsters and Guns and I'm likely to be in the minority opinion, but this one just wasn't a winner for me. Was I entertained in the moment? Yes. Will I reread? No.
I just didn't like the characters at all. Rory was so weepy. Maddox and Allister so sexist. And Rogan was bearable throughout. Even when the three MMCs became tolerable by the second half of the book all Rory could contribute was tears and begging for orgasms.
If you want to read so sexy smut this can be your thing, but if you want to read some dark sexy smut Den of Vipers os way better. I had so many expectations from this as it was in the same universe as DoV but the FMC was just lacking- and stupid at the same time. And I have a list of reasons why. Spoiler Alert.
1. Rory was told to be kickass and then she goes on to cry in front of every second person on the street? And after 30% of the book it was like all she was was a sex doll with a dog. Where was her badass nature? Her intelligence which was so hyped up in the beginning? Her charm?
2. The men in the story go from 'Rory is just a hole to be fucked, we are suspicious of her motives, let's do surveillance on every aspect of her life so that she can't hide any secrets' to 'Rory walks and farts gold.' How? Where was the character arc? Every book in KA Knight's any universe has such different character arcs or redemptions but here? Nothing. Just huve 550+ pages of average smut.
3. The plot. Ugh. I didn't expect a huge plot. Trust me I went thinking that since it is Loxley and Katie's co write there will be less plot and just more sex scenes but still. There should have been more than Rory just crying after every scene man.
4. Did I tell you that Rory cried and cried and cried? And then is described as a badass because out of the blue she stabs someone. And then again stabs someone. I mean. Why? Atleast keep her character consistent. And if you are saying that this character is badass don't make her cry after every damned thing man.
5. Did I also tell that after 30% of the book whatever qualities Rory was to have was eclipsed by her need to have sex or the men's need to have sex or someone else to have sex? She was shown as someone who likes puzzles, kicks ass in her interview (I liked that scene atleast) and then after being hired all she is, is a glorified barista who is supposed to get wet every time one of the 3 looks at her. I mean why???
The only thing I did like was Kenzo's cameo. I miss you Roxy and Diesel. Rory is just a cheap knockoff version of you trying to play in mother's heeled shoes like a kid.
This book just lacked and idk if I want to tarnish my DoV experience by reading any more books these authors publish in this universe.

1. This was HOT af🔥🔥🔥 2. Rory, you lucky b*tch 3. I just love you K.A Knight for the little surprise in Alistair chapter 😍😍 it made me squeal like a silly girl but i don't even care i was too happy 😍😍😍
That being told, let's talk about Gangsters and Guns. I LOVED THIS STORY😍😍😍 The book starts with an introduction to the female main character' past, that make us understand better all the decisions that gonna lead her to Dixen Brothers.
Rory has had and has a shitty life: she is a badass who has taken care of herself for almost of her life. But you can feel her need to be loved and taken care of....
The Dixen Brothers are intense, powerful, smart, rich, charming and deadly dangerous. Rogan, the Brain, is a control freak who must know everything. Maddox, the Beast, is the "protector" of the family. Alistair, the Bastard, is a womanizer and he like to show his money and his power, but there's so much more in him than that... He is the one who surprised me the most. Their own past is not the happiest, and they too need someone who love them for who they really are.
Rory soon becomes their little obsession. But the game they are playing is a dangerous one: filled with secrets and hidden players... And in the end it could cost their hearts.
The teasing, the foreplay between Rory and the Dixens create an intense sexual tension... An honestly it drove me crazy 🔥🔥 The chemistry was off the charts !! Sweaty moments mix with more emotional and more adrenaline moments. The story is well developed with various nuances that show the work behind each character. The pace is fast and hock you from the first page. There's no room from boredom, even if it's really big book .
And in the end you gonna hate Rory, just like me, because she has three amazing men at her feet 😭😭😭😭
Here I was expecting something similar to Den of Vipers, right. Don’t you fucking judge me🙄🤚🏻 But instead, I got a headache and more reasons to meet Satan riding the pole lil nas built for us, smut readers.
It’s not easy to trigger me. I started reading wattpad when kids my age were still peeing their beds okay. But these characters… I wasn’t even horny reading some of that disturbing shit :/ the pet names omfg- Basic human rights who? Consent? Idk her🥲 not here. All mcs need therapy. Especially the girl with no self respect pls. It was slowburnish (meaning you see no dick till like half the book) and kinda had a plot, at least a hint of it, but bitch was it a wild ride. If you want a dark rh romance with logic, do not bother starting this one.
My only favourite moment was when Kenzo from DoV appeared. I literally missed the vipers the whole time reading this shit and that’s how you know it was bad🤧
Two of my favourite dark RH authors have come together to write this delicious RH romance about a girl who couldn't say no and ends up playing a game that she has no clue about. Rory O'Brien has dealt with pain and survived until she meets The Dixen brothers. Skirting around the seediness underworld is no longer a choice. These guys are legendary for it.
Twisted and full of surprises Gangster and Guns is the best of both of these authors and I hope this isn't the last collaboration.
Not even going to lie, this book haunts me to this day. The chaos, the cringing, the throwing kindle across the room… it was just too much. Because why did this book have to traumatize me the way that it did???? I wanted dick, not emotional trauma. ✋🏼
I am SOBBING. This story was EVERYTHING. I am at a loss for words as I write this, the ending has me all kinds of fucked up. I don’t know whether I’m crying happy or sad tears at this point. I’m an emotional wreck. Honestly I just can’t put into words how incredible this story was. Before I finished it I had a list of all the things I wanted to put in my review, I wanted to tell you all about how heartbreaking, romantic, hot, spicy and heartfelt it was, I wanted to tell you about my favourite scenes and quotes but now I just can’t find the words to do it all justice. Strong isn’t enough of a word to describe Rory, the things she experienced will tear your heart to shreds. It’s fucking soul crushing. I want to give her a hug and tell her how proud of her I am for continuing to fight and to keep going. Not only did she fight for herself but she fought for her brother too… fuck, don’t even get me started on her brother or I’ll start crying all over again. I won’t ruin it. But be prepared to sob and feel as if your hearts being ripped out… Alister, Rogan and Maddox, fuck me. I just want to love them. They deserve so much love, they’re all so worthy of being loved and cared for. It infuriated me how they was treated in their childhood, their vile parents didn’t deserve them. MY HEART HURTS. fuck me it hurts so much for all of them. they all experienced so much pain and heartache yet they were all so fucking strong. strong is a complete understatement. they’re so much more than that. If you’re going to read anything, READ THIS. add it to your tbr rn. in fact download it and read it rn. Fuck it, I’ll list some of my fave moments- -Chasing scene -The notes -Group Activity that involved 🐝dsm -Hospital the boys brought -The goodbye 😢 -Rogan’s painting for Rory -The pillow Alister had made for Rory -The knife Maddox brought Rory I will love this story forever. Rory, she’s not just The Gangsters Queen, she’s; Alister’s Kitten, Maddox’s Pet and Rogan’s Hellcat 🖤
2.5 Stars It pains me to say this but I really did not love like this book. Really it was a struggle for me early and I did not vibe with any of the characters. From the start the heroine shows that she barely has a backbone and lets others dictate what she does and how she lives. I wondered for someone so apparently pretty and poor-why she never became a stripper to make extra (decent) money so she’d be able to at least support her druggie brother and have food to eat smh. Also I swear I was over hearing about her ‘pussy’ every few seconds a few chapters in. I swear it should be considered it’s own character with how much page time it takes up. When it comes to the men. Well. They were very unlikable from the first meeting. In my opinion there’s a difference between dark, dominant and just plain asshole & dick behavior. Of the three men, none really impressed me and Maddox referring to all women and even the heroine as a “walking hole” was such a big turnoff. I’m also of the mindset, ‘hey as long as you’re happy you do you,’ but I really could have done without the rape fantasy and Maddox making her go down on him all while he’s debasing her and then kicking her out with literal jizz on her face and in her hair. I’m sorry that’s just not sexy or Dom behavior, that’s also a hard NO from me and a reminder that women have teeth in situations like this but it didn’t bother the heroine one bit 🤦🏽♀️ The men are also hella controlling and the stalker vibes are not sexy or even arguable. Sometimes a stalker storyline can be great, usually when the guy/girl is obsessed/in love with the other and perhaps does said stalking to protect and keep an eye on them. These guys, oh no no no, it’s all power and control for them, from day one. There’s no romancing their obsession or need for total control. None even a e real feelings for her or at least believable ones until the end and even that’s questionable. They also are childish and I wanted her to pour hot coffee in their laps every damn time they asked her for a ridiculous unnecessary task like emptying their already empty garbage pails multiple times a day. I mean how is that a dark dirty and delicious man, no that’s childish dickshit behavior. And last about the men, wtf is wrong with Alistair? Gah, 🤦🏽♀️ just what the heroine needs, another drug addict in her life. The last thing a person with addiction problems needs is to turn their addiction into or onto another person. I mean no pressure heroine you’re only the very lifeline keeping him sober 🤷🏼♀️ Worse was his behavior when he found her secret cell phone and read messages from her contact, umm mother f*cker what!? He literally knows she’s a plant from day one and even thinks to himself she’s probably there because of the cops and yet he still loses his damn mind. Wtf!..!? Did your drug addled brain just lose this information or something?
Aside from the men (aka wannabe heroes/antiheroes but sadly they are none of the above) there was also just a lot about the story I did not love. The heroine is controlled by all the men in her life and doesn’t really fight big brother if you will. The story opens with her parents being killed but what was the point? Was there a connection between the men-maybe their parents and what happened or was it all a coincidence? Then her brother, ugh I really struggle with addicts and a lot of this is from real life issues but his behavior bugged the shit out of me. Not only did she enable and allow his bad behavior to continue, out of some false guilt complex she allowed her entire future to be changed by his actions. Add in his sudden moment of clarity in the end where he asks her to walk away from him and I wanted to throw my phone, it was so impossibly cheesy and unnecessary. Not to mention there’s no way she’s going to just give up on him when his very survival has been her whole life for so long. Also her being a random killer just was weird and off. I love a good sociopath now and then but the two deaths she commits were just random and felt flawed as if it was only added to show why she belongs with these 3 men. I’m sure I could complain more but I’m more disappointed by this than anything. I love a good dark read with impossibly crazy characters but they were all just such a letdown and not anything like the badass and often obsessed with one another characters I’ve come to love (at least) from KA Knight. Can’t win em all I guess so I’ll just hope the next is better.

I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from reading as we all have different opinions as night and day.
I tried SO HARD! to love this book. I wanted to absolutely devour it and put it on my favorites after reading the description. That did not happen. I struggled to connect with the book and get drawn into it very early in, but I pushed on even though I wasn't feeling it at all. I eventually DNF about 70% through. The FMC, I don't even know how to label her other than annoying and desperate? I honestly felt like she was just over the top too much. I did enjoy the story line for the most part, but I just could not connect. It felt more like a chore trying to finish this than enjoying a good read.
Gangsters and Guns is great reverse harem romance. K. A. Knight and Loxley Savage does amazing with Rory. But there is a lot of ⚠️triggers⚠️.
Rory is a strong kick ass woman who does anything for her brother. So she makes a deal to go undercover for a cop to get dirt on the Dixen Brothers. No problem until feelings starts and she starts notice things aren’t what they seems.
Maddox, Rogan, and Alistair are Dixen Brothers. When they agree to “hire” Rory they knew she was hiding something but only Alistair knows what and he is not sharing. So Maddox is the hard ass of the all them. He is the hardest to love but the first to fill in love with Rory. Alistair is a drug user like her brother but his charm and personal make him hard to resist. He like to use his money to buy friends but that not work with Rory. If you want her you need to show here your real self demons and all. Rogan is the nerd but the one Rory feels close to at first. She see something inside of him that reminds of herself.
Throughout everything in Rory experience in her past nothing prepared her for what she will going through Maddox, Rogan, and Alistair. She and the guys will carry us on a steam fill journey through some blood, tears, and some love. We get to know Rory and the guys as fight for their HEA with even knowing that what they want. Will they get read to found out?
K. A. Knight bad Loxley Savage both done a amazing job with characters. Rory was incredible fmc. Her strength was incredible. The storyline was wonderful for Gangsters and Guns. The ending was perfect. Definitely 5 ⭐️.
“Which one of us is the predator, and which one is the prey?”
Well shit! If you’ve read den of Vipers, let me tell you that this book goes far and beyond it; the steaminess this story manages is off the charts and just know that if you thought DOV ruined you, well you’re in for a new kind of suffering with Gangsters and Guns.
Not only do we get K.A. Knight in full experience but adding another amazing author like Loxley Savage to the mix, makes this book a dark favorite of mine.
Rory 27 now has to take care of herself and her brother, a hard life doesn’t bring many choices to a woman like her, so that leaves her with no choice but to make a double work. Working at Dixen Enterprises was a challenge from the start, Rogan, Alistair and Maddox are intense, possessive and powerful; they want her, in every single possible way and they won’t let her escape no matter what.
A Dark Reverse Harem told in multiple POV; this book will only leave you craving more of this bloody world!!
I Won’t be going by my Rating List, I Truly Give this Book a 5/5 Star Rating, this will be a memorable read for me and I will happily reread this over and over. ☺️
HEA(?): Yes! Relationship Type: MFMM Heat: 4/5 Romance: 3.5-4/5 Drama: 3.5/5 Suspense: 4/5 Dark(?): This book may be darker for others readers, but for me it’s a 2/5 and will be listing in my Dark Lite Category. Pacing: Well paces throughout, nothing was rushed and I appreciate that a lot.
I was immediately pulled into this book, and it’s really well written and the build up of each character through the books is not rushed and you see their growth and kept my attention eagerly. You honestly couldn’t tell that two authors written this book, it flowed that well to me. Loved the Minor Crossover with DOV, cause it gave you a sense of familiarity. Plain and Simple. LOVED. IT!!
Almost a 5 star book, but it's nothing close to the joy I got from reading K.A. Knight's Den of Vipers book. And while she in fact brings one of the DOV characters into this world for a brief appearance, it can't hold a candle to the crazy that she spun into that story.
Also...the first 93 pages are a STRUGGLE! I LITERALLY almost gave up on it, but told myself to at least give it to page 100 (that's my breaking point...like with music, I always give a new song up to 1 minute before I decide to keep listening or not). And boy was I happy I did! It's like when you're waiting in line for a rollercoaster and you almost decide the wait is not worth the pleasure and joy you might get out of the ride, but you decide to hold out for just a few more minutes and shockingly get rushed to the front of the line.
From there, it takes off and finally gets interesting. The reason my rating isn't a 5 star though is because not only is the beginning of the book freaking slow as molasses in the middle of an Alaskan winter, but there are moments throughout where I felt like the author was just writing to get some words on the paper...and it bored me to tears and I ended up skimming quite a few pages throughout the book.
Once you get past all of that, the story is actually good and occasionally charming. At one point when the MC, Rory, was being a little bit of a brat to Alistair I was actually feeling bad for him...like, why in the hell should I feel bad for him? HA! But the author had a plan and it was a great reason.
The steam is hot and heavy, the danger is prevalent, and the twists and turns are quite a great surprise. Each male character has their own vices with Rory, and they test her constantly. But she likes it, and the author makes sure to let the reader understand that Rory in fact has bit of thrill-seeker side to her. *To the reviews that hate on the absolute absurdity of some of the scenes, all I have to say is ... it's fiction! It's a book! It's not meant to be real, it's meant to spark your imagination ;-) Have fun with it.
It's all fun and games as the MC is obviously into it and is intrigued by the various sexual predicaments her boys put her in. It's totally sexy, off the charts crazy at times, and occasionally humorous. Albeit, there are a few words that I don't prefer being used (in lieu of other words), but hey...that's only a personal opinion.
I also liked that the book covered a wide span of time and several major holidays that way we know these things aren't all happening super quick...they're actually building, all the loose ends were wrapped up neatly, and the bond that develops between the characters was well spun.
Rating = 4 stars = almost 5, but the beginning is hella-slow and I skimmed other areas due to boredom. Steam = 5 stars = off the charts and very unique at times Storyline = 5 stars = enjoyable, with lots of twists Plot Twists = 5 stars = so crazy and often unexpected. gasp! Emotional Pull = 3 stars = mostly just a fun book to read, but occasional LOL moments and a tear or two was shed. Writing = 3 stars = well done minus [again] the beginning various moments throughout were I felt like the author was just filling space. Denouement = 4 stars = everything ties together nicely in a neat little bow at the end, but I'm sucker for multiple epilogues...so, 4 stars. Cliffhanger? = Nope! HEA? = Abso-freakin'-lutely!
To say I am disappointed is the biggest understatement of all ! I thought this would be another version of DOV or something interesting like that. Instead, this is a full and full wannabe.
SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
These are the things totally not sitting right for me : 1) at least 17% until the FMC finally met the H..... 2) after all the set up of the character of FMC from that 15-17% , you only see a weak, undecisive, dull female who kept on betraying the trust she was having with the Hs in the remain of the whole book. 3) NO WHERE in the book showed Alistair felt sorry for setting up the FMC for her crime and eventually led to her stay in the prison and all that. Nor did he ever apologize or, told his brothers. I am not even sure if they forgot, or else, think this is NOT important enough to mention in the book ? honestly I only read till the end to find out IF he ever apologized. 4) I am not even sure how much "gangsters" and "guns" have been mentioned in the whole book. The H could be anybody, a billionaire, a fashion designer, a computer nerd ..............nothing is matching the title, at all.
I have read so many of Knight's books that blew me away (in a good way) but this one has to be one of the worse books I have ever read.........
"I’m not the hero of my own story, but I sure as shit am not the villain. The world is filled with shades of gray. I’m just realizing now how deep into that dark side I am willing to go. "
I went into this blind and was absolutely blown away. Holy crap! Amazing job!!
"They may be the kings , but she’s their fucking queen."
The Dixon brothers are absolutely my new favorite Alphaholes. There is so much chemistry, angst, sexy times. If you have triggers, this may not be for you. This is actually the first book I have ever read that has pitbull representation and I couldn't have been happier. Huge pitbull supporter here. Absolutely loooved this one!!
I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review
I’m going to just become a full on KA Knight addict now. I love that this is in the den of Vipers world and we get a little peek of Kenzo. I love Ali so much and definitely fell in love with this book !
ReRead number three. 2022:: Still love this book- still 5 stars but I’ll be honest. The novelty of it wears off and the beginning is a looonnnggggg road. But damn that pay off is sooooo goood. Still love Ali and everything he is. “Coffee first. Then murder” 💖
Couldn’t finish it. I tried...got halfway... but I can’t. I don’t like the plot...deception and the fact that it took soooo long for the main characters to meet and then the male characters have no redeeming qualities.
I am fast becoming a fan of Ms Knights writing. She has a way of writing the perfect mix of the alpha male that you would LOVE to find existed in real life (and that he wanted YOU!!), has the descriptive talent and imagination to write the most sexy and downright dirty and sinful sex scenes you almost feel naughty for reading it and just wrapping it all in a storyline bow that leaves you not wanting to put it down!!
Gangsters and Guns can almost be viewed as an extreme cinderella tale.
Rory, our FMC, goes from barely surviving, barely eating and barely keeping the trailer over her head, to having a fantastic job, an opulent apartment, 3 gorgeous bosses, and everything paid for.of course there's a catch!
Desperate for money to keep her brother in his care home after a lifetime of drug abuse catching up with him, Rory takes a risky thef job blinded by the cash paid. To keep out of jail she agrees to go undercover for a detective for the 3 Dixen brothers, who own and run Dixen Enterprises, as well as non legal bits on the side they can never be caught on. The detective is trying to grt prove for an horrific murder he has been convinced they did, and sends in Rory to get enough evidence to put them all away, and she would get a suspended sentence.
As Rory gets to work trying, and failing, to find any evidence, she gets to know the Dixens and find they're not exactly what the detective had told her. Oh they weren't saints! But weren't these evil shits either. But the detective was determined and Rory had deadlines to find something that made no sense.
As Rory gets to know them, and as they get to know her, it becomes a matter of "detective or Dixens". Either way, Rory was going to hurt someone she cared about...
That's if they let her live after learning of her betrayal. She'd seen first hand that you don't fail at loyalty.
The scene with her brother towards the end was touching! I swear I teared up and I rarely do that! Written so well and one of the great pivotal moments in Rorys life.
Love how different the brothers were, and the way each slotted with Rory in different ways. It's in books like this where it kinda makes you think "of course RH is the way forward. How can one person have everything another needs??".
There were some unanswered questions that were left hanging... Why was Rory never made aware that it was Alistair that set her up for the initial job? And what exactly was it that the dixes did that was so gangster? We saw the money making set up but that was it!
It was a great read but it does come in a second to the Den of Vipers!
Slight trigger warning when it comes to some of Rorys fantasy that are played out but that's about it.

My book boyfriends list grew by 3!! . This is my new obsession. When it started I got DOV vibes but the longer I read the more it felt completely different. I loved the cameo however and I hope we see a more in depth crossover between the two books in the future because I’m here for that! . This story was original, a page turner, amazing world building and drool worthy characters with a FMC that is awe inspiring. No matter what life threw at Rory she came back stronger and better for it. She came along way from the little girl who’s life was ripped away from her to the powerful woman she came to be. She shows resilience, strength and determination and is still kind, selfless and such a beautiful person I have loved every minute of her journey. The guys, all different, all bring out something new in her, as she does the same for them. I loved their journey also. From letting down walls and accepting you can’t control every single detail, accepting their true selves and learning that it’s ok to be vulnerable. All the characters were developed amazingly and I truly never wanted this to end! I hunger for more!! . A mysterious, dark and twisted world was incredibly developed. Each detail was unique and new and something you don’t see often in books, so exploring this was amazing. Its also a look at a different side to a popular or well known city, one you wouldn’t think existed which I loved. I enjoyed the unpredictability, the tear-jerker moments, the pain, the sense of longing and hopelessness but also the hope, the love and even the spicy moments. Definitely a book to add to a favourites, and a book that packs so much into it emotionally and mentally. . This is a definite winner for me. I hope we get more because I am not done with these characters and this world!
I could go on and on and on about this book and these characters! Like OMG!!!! From the moment Rory walked into that building full of women and dominated the guys I was a goner! My mind flipped back and forth throughout the entire book between my favorite men. One minute Alistair was my fave man, the next second I was drooling for Rogan and then I was diving head first for Maddox! These guys may have been BAD BAD BAD BAD but they were oh so good to her. Even when they didnt want to be or didnt think they were. I loved how she meshed so well with their lifestyle. The killing kind I mean. Not the lavish style. No, that part it definitely took her a minute to get use to. When she had to go back to her trailer and one of the guys went with her, wow I think that was one of my favorite parts of the book. It showed just how much they were there for her. I LOVED Den of Vipers by KA Knight, and this book may have reminded me about it a little bit but this book I think I LOVED more. It hit me on a deeper level and I connected to the characters more. Maybe it was Rory's struggles from day one or maybe it was the guys but I was sucked in from top to bottom, from start to finish, from root to tip? LOL The way Rory always tried to look after her brother even when he treated her like garbage really hurt my heart. I have a personal connection to that part of the story as well and felt that deep in my soul. The sex in this story was just as incredible as Loxley Savage and K A Knight always like to make their books. PERFECT, HOT, STEAMY, with a little bit of "make Amanda's clothes fall off". There isnt anything else I can say about this book except PLEASE LOXLEY SAVAGE AND K.A KNIGHT WRITE ANOTHER BOOK TOGETHER!!! I LOVE WHEN YOU GUYS DUET!!!! YOU ARE THE DREAM TEAM!!!!
This book takes place in the same world as KA Knights DOV book although I don't think its even in the same ballpark. SPOILERS included.
This is the story of Rory. Rory AKA Kitten or Pet or Miss O'Brien... Still, the story of Rory starts with her as a child and basically her older brother being her rock. A break in/robbery happens and both of her parents end up dead. Her brother takes care of her and legally takes care of her the moment he turns 18. He develops a bad drinking and drug problem and turns into a different person where ultimately Rory now needs to take care of him. He gets so bad, he ends up being hospitalized and only has glimpses of his memory still intact. Rory is then forced to cheat, steal and kill to do what she can to survive for herself and pay her brothers hospital bill.
Fast forward - Rory does a job that lands her in cuffs and the Detective offers her a job she cant refuse in exchange for intel on certain brothers.
Brothers that make her heart skip. Brothers that all hold secrets deeper and darker than hers. Brothers that she cant stop thinking about. Brothers that may be innocent?
This is their story. (Check out my Goodreads for my full review)
*Overall 3/5 *Heat 4/5 *Mid-Burn - No actual heat till about 40ish% in *MFMM *No M/M (brothers) *First person POV, all 4 main characters *HEA? Yes, but I'm left wanting more in the end.
I went into this book blind and I was so glad I did! I was immediately drawn in to Rorys life when it was turned upside down in such a horrific way. Although she had her brother with her, he turned out to be one of the biggest shit heads in Rorys life and I really wished she had grown some balls and told him where to shove it. After Rory meets the Dixen Brothers she starts to stand up for herself more and more and you can see how much they are helping her to change for the better.
Now I must say I didn't fall in love with the guys straight away, they grew on me over time. I found it really difficult to picture them for some reason and my attraction definitely came later on in the book after they started to reveal what was under the 'Dixen brothers' masks. After a shitty start in life themselves they have only ever relied on each other, until Rory comes barreling into their lives and becomes their little obsession. They each show her what they are really like and not just hw the world sees them. Alistair was the most surprising of changes, I honestly didn't expect him to be so vulnerable deep down.
The chemistry between the four of them is off the charts and we are treated to some majorly sexy scenes that I didn't want to end. Rory deserves her guys at her side.
Gangsters and Guns by K.A. Knight and Loxley Savage is a standalone dark contemporary romance.
The book does come with a warning/caution "There are explicit scenes and dark themes such as drug abuse that might be triggering for some. If such material triggers or offends you, please do not read this book"
I am a new reader to Katie and Loxley's books and I am now a big fan! I need to start binging all their work. They did an amazing job pulling me into the story. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.
I loved the relationship that bloomed between Rory, Rogan, Maddox, and Alistair. Their story took me on an emotional roller coaster. There were times I was laughing out load and others were I was a sobbing mess. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dark romance, contemporary romance, or romantic suspense. It is definitely one of my top reads for 2021!
KA Knight is quickly becoming on of my favorite Reverse harem authors. This was my first book from Loxely Savage. I will be reading more of Loxely's books after reading this book.
This is a Dark Contemporary Reverse harem book. It is a standalone. Since it is a Dark Book those under the age of 18 should not read this book. It contains adult these, violence, and strong sexual content.
if you are a Fan of Den of Viper's then you should really like this book. The beginning of this book starts out a little slow. I am glad I stuck with it thought because once The FMC Rory meets the guys the story picks up in every way.
Rory's parents were murdered in their home when her and her brother were young. Her brother gained custody of her after he became an adult. They fell on rough time and he became sick. She would take thieving jobs to get by. She came up on some trouble that led her to work for the Dixon brothers. The Dixon Brothers are businessmen during the day and Gangsters on the side. Now you need to because these characters can be a little crazy. This book is packed with action and kink. 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵 Not only does this book have action and Kink this book also has some emotional parts that tug at your heart. Which makes this a all around good dark read. If you are a lover of Dark Reverse harem books with a lot of kinky kind of out there role playing steam with some action and violence thrown in. Then I think you will love this book.
