The present study revealed the effects of Lycopene enriched tomato extract (LycT) on chemically induced skin cancer in mice. Skin tumors were induced by topical application of 7,12-Dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) [500 nmol/100 ul of acetone, twice a week for two weeks] and 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) [1.7 nmol/100 ul of acetone, twice a week for eighteen weeks] and LycT (5 mg/kg b.w.) was administered orally. Male Balb/c mice were divided into four groups (n = 15 per group): control, DMBA/TPA, LycT and LycT + DMBA/TPA. The chemopreventive response of LycT to skin tumorigenesis was evident by inhibition in tumor incidence, number, size, burden and volume in LycT + DMBA/TPA group when compared to DMBA/TPA group. This was associated with inhibition of cell proliferation in LycT + DMBA/TPA group as observed by the decrease in epidermal morphometric parameters and mRNA and protein expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen when compared to DMBA/TPA group (p ≤ 0.05). LycT decreased (p ≤ 0.05) the mRNA and protein expression of angiogenic genes (vascular endothelial growth factor, angiopoietin-2, basic fibroblast growth factor) in LycT + DMBA/TPA group, suggesting its anti-angiogenic effects. The increase (p ≤ 0.05) in protein expression of connexin-32 and 43 in LycT + DMBA/TPA group suggests improved inter cellular communication when compared to DMBA/TPA group. Histochemical studies demonstrated that the components of extracellular matrix (fibrous proteins and mucopolysaccharides) were also modulated during skin carcinogenesis and its chemoprevention by LycT. The decrease in cell proliferation parameters and expression of angiogenesis associated genes, modulation of ECM components and increase in expression of connexins suggest that LycT improved multiple dysregulated processes during chemoprevention of skin cancer.

By virtue of Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory, the governing equations for the considered material are developed. The free surface of the substrate is governed by the inclined mechanical load and thermal and chemical shocks. Design/methodology/approach With the aid of the normal mode technique, the solutions of the nondimensional coupled governing equations have been obtained. Findings The expressions of field variables are obtained analytically. By using MATHEMATICA software, various graphical implementations are presented to describe the impacts of angle of inclination, fractional-order and nonlocality parameters. The present model is also validated on the basis of some comparative studies with some preestablished cases. Originality/value As observed from the literature survey, many different studies have been carried out by taking into account the deformation analysis in nonlocal double porous thermoelastic material structures and thermo-mechanical interaction in fiber-reinforced medium under fractional-order thermoelasticity theories. However, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, no research emphasizing the thermo-elasto-diffusive interactions in a nonlocal FRDPTDMWV has been carried out. Moreover, the effect of fractional-order LSTED theory on fiber-reinforced thermoelastic diffusive half-space with double porosity has not been illuminated till now, which significantly defines the novelty of the conducted research.

Machine Learning algorithms are proved useful at identifying zero-day attacks or detecting an unusual behavior of systems that might indicate an attack or a malware. This research work has reviewed various security threats and defensive techniques, open challenges in cybersecurity domain for intrusion detection, malware detection and network anomaly detection systems using various Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms. It is found that most of the discussed approaches used supervised models. For intrusion detection, RBF-SVM (Radial Basis Function - Support Vector Machine) model gave highest accuracy of 99.90% while in malware detection DNN (Deep Neural Network) model gave 97.79% accuracy. For pirated software identification, a DNN model was used and it gave 96% accuracy. Seq2Seq (Sequence-to-Sequence) model worked best for network anomaly detection giving an accuracy of 99.90%. On the other hand, for anomaly detection a DBN (Deep Belief Networks) based model is used which gives 69.77% accuracy. Finally, this paper discusses about the 5G’s security, cyber-attacks and the major role of the above emerging fields in the future of cybersecurity.

It is difficult to understand the devastation created by human beings unless you travel to a developing nation or actively try to find it in our own country -- pictures or words will never do it justice. E-Waste (Electronic Waste) is the rapidly growing stream of waste from discarded electronics and appliances. These items include anything from computers, TVs and phones to washing machines and refrigerators to everything else in between. Most of these electronics appliances are often not trash, but simply outdated and traded up for the latest version on the market. To manufacture one computer and its monitor it takes 530lbs of fossil fuels, 48 pounds of chemicals, and 1.5 tons of water. Toxic substances when burnt at low temperature create additional toxins such as halogenated dioxins and furans- harmful to mankind. According to the most recent report rel...

In critical software system reliability is considered as an important quality factor. Reliability itself depends on various factors. To develop reliable critical software system it is very important to evaluate reliability in active and efficient manner. Soft Computing techniques are effective in assessment of models. The main objective of this study is to develop a reliability model that is based on important factors. The secondary objective is to evaluate the model by using fuzzy logic/soft computing. Since multiple factors have impact on reliability so fuzzy logic will help to provide specific solution for imprecise and ambiguous concepts by converting vague information into a good judgmental model Critical software system selection is a complex task. Four factors are considered to evaluate the reliability. Then the evaluation results are validated by using defuzzification. The proposed model can be implemented for various applications in an effective manner.

They are also making a transition from time-based maintenance and heuristic decision-making to condition-driven maintenance and information-based decision-making. Achieving the objectives for infrastructure asset management requires integration of information from multiple heterogeneous data sources. This data resides in diverse and distributed systems of record, and these systems have proprietary data formats, data semantics, and data stewardship processes. It is challenging to organize these varieties of data sources into an integrated system to enable development and deployment of a wide variety of advanced asset analytics to support an effective asset management strategy. In this paper, we report on an integrated analytics system that addresses challenges in 1) organizing the data sources into a coherent integrated data model, 2) providing core capability of history reconstruction and other data services, and 3) provisioning to handle the large volume of historical data.

In a cross-sectional study, a total of 448 dental students (118 in preclinical categories, 330 in clinical categories) were surveyed using a self-administered, structured questionnaire pretested through a pilot survey. Out of 448 dental students, 92.6% had heard about swine flu, whereas only 64.3% of them knew about the H1N1 virus. More than 50% of dental students showed a positive response towards swine flu attitude, and pandemic H1N1 influenza modified the behaviour of dental students. Respondents rated hand washing and face masks as the most effective measures for the prevention of pandemic influenza. Half of the dental students had enough information and showed a positive attitude towards a H1N1 pandemic influenza outbreak. However, the behavioural response of the participants was poor.
