Navigation in Oskari map view

New navigation has been planned by the service designer in NLS-FI in late 2019. This project aims in fulfilling the design. More accurate Project plan (in Finnish).

Main tasks

  • Development of navigation and rearrangement of menubuttons in Oskari map view
  • New symbols for tools - symbols are to use Ant Design-icon (open icon library)
  • Users sign in ==> under main tools
  • Search ==> floating bar
  • Info and tooltips for all tools
  • Zooming tools rearranged according to the plan

These issues should be tackled in the project

  • Ideas how sub-tools are shown (tools that are under the main tools in navigation)
  • Mobile version should be taken also into account
  • Not decided yet: do we want to show all tools for users that have not been signed in?

Options

  • Responsiveness and optimization of different forms
  • Drawing and measurement tools together
  • Combining search for metadata, datasets and address/place name

The first part of implementation towards this has been done in the base HTML rewrite:

The next part would be to implement a new interface for bundles to interact with the menu/navigation ie. new way of registering a "tile"/menu item on the menu. This menu item needs to include the icon that can be used when the navigation is minimized.

Next part after that would require making everything else in navigation to handle a minimized state.

Last and more involved part would be to restructure the current tools like combining measurement and drawing/my places functionalities and making the tools "make sense" if an application only has measurement without my places functionality or vice versa etc.

@ZakarFin can this be closed or is this still a work in progress?
